Chapter 41 Rolling in the Mud

"Hey, do you want some of this?"

Covered in mud like a mud figure, Ya Zi handed a few yellow candies to Yue Jiuling beside him and asked.

Yue Jiuling was also covered in filth, her body and hair were covered in mud, and she looked like she had just crawled out of a mud pit, looking extremely disheveled.

"Hmm, I want to eat. I'm actually a little hungry. By the way, how come you have some candy on you?"

Yue Jiuling stretched out her dirty paws, grabbed Ya Zi's candy, peeled it open, and threw it into her mouth: "Hmm~ It's actually durian candy, not bad, not bad. It seems we have similar tastes and both like this flavor."

Ya Zi smiled and looked at Yue Jiuling's current appearance, and couldn't help but say, "It's very uncomfortable, isn't it? Just bear with it for now. As long as we find the array core, we can get out. We can rest for a while and then move on?"

Yue Jiuling looked down at herself and clicked her tongue, saying, "This is all I can do. Actually, I feel pretty uncomfortable. This mud is so smelly. It's all because of those magical beasts earlier. They were so annoying!"

Actually, they got all the mud on themselves because there were just too many monsters attacking them, and they couldn't defeat them all at once. So they wanted to find a place to hide, but their aura was too obvious. No matter where they ran, the monsters could find them. So they came up with a way to cover their aura by covering themselves in mud.

Surprisingly, this method worked quite well. After the two of them rolled around in the wet mud for a while, getting covered in mud, the monsters really couldn't detect their presence anymore. Now, as long as they didn't see them, they wouldn't attack them anymore.

After resting for about half an hour, Yue Jiuling and Ya Zi decided to go and find a way to break the formation.

As Ya Zi walked, he secretly released his spiritual power to explore this other world. He said, "Generally, the spiritual energy in the place where the array core is located will be different from other places. I'll try to find it."

Yue Jiuling nodded and said, "Okay, you try first. Let me see if my phone still has a signal. I've been here for so long and there's been no signal. Even the time is inaccurate. I don't know what time it is now, and I can't even report the situation to the organization."

Because this is a small world created by the Blood Demon, time inside is different from time outside. Even though Yue Jiuling has been here for so long, the time on her watch has remained at the level before she entered, so she has no idea what time it is outside now.

"Hiss hiss hiss~"

In the jungle, a monster several meters long, covered in red scales, with a horn on its head, and looking somewhat like a crocodile, was slowly crawling.

As it crawled, it seemed to be searching for something, constantly sniffing the ground with its nose, just like a puppy sniffing something.

Suddenly, it seemed to have found what it was looking for on the road to the right, so it started running wildly, heading to the right until it encountered two strange mud figures and stopped.

These two strange clay figures are Yazi and Yue Jiuling.

Before the monster appeared, Yue Jiuling and her companion were breaking off tree branches to drive away mosquitoes. This place was already a damp area, with a lot of insects and the like. Plus, the two of them were covered in mud, making them even more likely to attract those creatures.

So while they were busy working, the sudden appearance of the monster gave them all a big fright!

Yue Jiuling was furious. She waved the tree branch she had just broken off at the giant monster and yelled, "What the hell are you? You suddenly appeared and scared the hell out of me!"

Ya Zi was also a little scared. The monster had appeared silently. If it had attacked them, the two of them would not have been able to defend themselves and would have been injured.

The monster stopped in front of the two and remained motionless. It stared at them with a puzzled expression, seemingly unable to distinguish whether the two mud figures were its companions or enemies, because the aura emanating from them was too strange, possessing both an unfamiliar and a familiar scent, which left it confused.

Yue Jiuling pointed at the monster with a branch for a short while. Seeing that the monster had no intention of attacking her, she put the branch down. She whispered to Ya Zi, "Hey, what's wrong with it? It's not attacking us or leaving, it's just staring at us. Is it stupid?"

Ya Zi was also puzzled by the monster's actions. After thinking for a moment, he suddenly remembered the mud on his body and said, "Could it be that because our auras are too chaotic, it can't distinguish whether we are friend or foe?"

"Hmm, that's not impossible..."

Yue Jiuling figured the monster was probably genuinely trying to identify her, so she pulled Ya Zi down to sit on the ground and started rolling around in the mud.

Yue Jiuling thought that since the monster was doubting whether she was a native of this place, the reason for its doubt must be that her aura had not been completely concealed. So she decided to roll in the mud again to make herself look more 'authentic'.

When Ya Zi was pulled to sit on the ground by Yue Jiuling, he understood what Yue Jiuling meant by doing so, so he immediately followed along and rolled in the mud.

In truth, if the two of them wanted to fight this monster, they could definitely win. However, killing it would likely attract even more magical beasts. They could handle one or two, but a large group of monsters would be troublesome. Therefore, neither of them planned to fight. They simply wanted to cover up their scent and pretend to be 'native inhabitants'.
