Chapter 401 Scores

Chapter 401:

"Oh my god, did I scare someone's dog?"

Upon hearing the barking, Ya Zi chuckled and said to Yue Jiuling, "What should we do? It seems we've scared the dogs."

"Um, should we go back first or what?"

Yue Jiuling smiled and said, "We've already come all this way, wouldn't it be a waste to go back like this? Why don't we just be gentlemen thieves for once?"

“A gentleman on the thief’s roof,” Ya Zi laughed even harder upon hearing Yue Jiuling’s words. He nodded and said, “Well, that’s not impossible. Shall we go in then?”

After saying that, Ya Zi gently pushed open the door to Xiaomian's house. The husky inside barked even louder when it saw a stranger enter the house, and it was also very scared.

"Woof woof woof woof!"

Hearing the dog barking, Yue Jiuling glanced at the husky with a sneer and said, "Tsk, you have a pretty loud voice, but I don't like it, it's too noisy."

As Yue Jiuling spoke, she snapped her fingers at the big dog, and the dog fell into a deep sleep.

"Alright, it's finally quiet."

After knocking the husky down, Yue Jiuling and Ya Zi wandered around Xiaomian's house, but after searching the whole place, they found nothing.

"That's strange, how can it be so clean? Could it be that the demonic energy on Wen Yue's body has nothing to do with this place?"

After searching through Xiaomian's house thoroughly, Yue Jiuling frowned and said to Ya Zi, "It's getting late, we should leave, but we still haven't found anything today. What should we do?"

Ya Zi was also puzzled, because they all thought that the demonic energy on Wen Yue's body came from her classmate Xiaomian, but they didn't expect to find nothing at Xiaomian's house.

Ya Zi glanced at the time on her phone and said, "Well, since we haven't found it, why don't we go back first? We can't take too long off from school, it's not good."

"Okay, well, actually I don't like going to school at all~"

Upon hearing that she had to go back to school, Yue Jiuling immediately felt utterly hopeless, because she really disliked going to school.

Ya Zi didn't actually like going to school either, but there was nothing she could do; it was their job: "Let's go then. Sigh, actually, I don't like going to school either~"

The two quickly left Xiaomian's house and returned to school.

In a dilapidated rental house, several children were locked in a huge iron cage. Inside the cage were several dirty little bowls containing some cold, spoiled food and some murky water.

The food and drink in the bowls were for the children, who were like domesticated animals, waiting to be slaughtered at any moment.

They were all children around five or six years old, both boys and girls. They all had some injuries on their bodies, and their expressions were numb and frightened as they huddled together quietly without making a sound.

"Hey, get up, it's time to eat."

Suddenly, the door to the rented room opened, and a fierce-looking man and a tall man entered. Their entry caused all the children in the cage to show expressions of fear.

The fierce-looking man was holding a large pot filled with cold food, while the tall man was carrying an unconscious boy on his back.

The fierce-looking man came in, took a key out of his pocket, opened the door of the large iron cage, and said, "Alright, Cao Kai, put the person in. By the way, did you give him the medicine?"

"Yes, I've fed him/her, don't worry."

As Cao Kai put the children on his body into the iron cage, he said, "Hurry up and finish feeding them, then we'll leave. The checks have been strict lately."

"Tsk, coward, what are you afraid of? Do you think those mere humans can catch us?"

The fierce-looking man poured the food from the pot into several bowls inside the iron cage, then sneered, "Those management offices are a bit of a problem, but don't worry, we'll just be careful."

After the man finished pouring out all the food, he closed and locked the iron cage door, then left the house with Cao Kai. As soon as they left, the children silently climbed into the rice bowls to eat.

Yue Jiuling and Ya Zi returned to school in the evening because they wanted to delay and didn't want to go back to school so soon. However, no matter how much they delayed, they eventually returned to that suffocating high school.

"Ah, I really want a miner~"

Yue Jiuling lay sprawled on the table, pretending to be a couch potato. She said to Ya Zi, "Young Master Long, save me, I don't want to come back here."

Ya Zi also looked helpless. Looking at his classmates who were all studying hard and making progress every day, he secretly said to Yue Jiuling, "Sorry, classmate, I can't even protect myself~"

"Tsk, what bad luck!"

Just as Yue Jiuling and Ya Zi were feeling utterly hopeless, their homeroom teacher walked in, carrying a stack of test papers. She then addressed the class, saying, "Class, the results of the last English test are out. Everyone's scores were quite good this time, except for a few individual students. I'm very satisfied with your scores."

The homeroom teacher then had the test papers handed out, and many students in the class were quite happy because they could guess roughly what their scores would be.
