Chapter 144 Yellow Springs Water

"This tastes like the water of the underworld." Han Qulu stared at the tissue, her expression somewhat grim. "Where did you get this?"

Jiang Si said, "In a corner of the hospital."

"How could water from the underworld appear in the mortal realm?" Jiang Si looked at the ordinary, tattered paper.

The waters of the Yellow Springs are icy cold. Once you fall into them, there is almost no chance of getting back to shore. You can only float and sink in the Yellow Springs all day long, gradually being corroded until only bones remain, and finally vanishing into nothingness.

Qi Yan had never been to the underworld, and said, "Could it be that someone went to the underworld, was unwilling to give up, and came back up, accidentally getting some Yellow Spring water on themselves?"

“Impossible,” Jiang Si said. “Do you think Yellow Spring Water is anything good? If a newly deceased ghost gets wet in Yellow Spring Water, it’s good enough if he can keep his soul until he is reincarnated. How could he possibly cause trouble in the mortal world?”

“Even a great ghost falling into the Yellow Springs cannot escape,” Han Yunluo said.

"Then it's not a ghost, but some kind of creature from the underworld?" Guan Qingchen said.

"Forget it, we can't figure it out either." Jiang Si's face was displeased. "We'll find out when we meet them tonight."

Whoever it is, if they dare to cause trouble in a hospital, they should be prepared for no return.

That night, Jiang Si and Han Yunlu disguised themselves and sneaked into the hospital, accompanied by Qi Yan, who had reverted to his original form and was in Jiang Si's pocket.

Guan Qingchen felt that Jiang Si had dealt him a tactful yet sharp blow: "If you go now, you'll only be a hindrance. Don't worry, I'll take good care of your wife."

Fang Xiaoqing had been waiting for them for a long time.

"Master Jiang, over here," she whispered from a dark corner.

Fang Xiaoqing led them through the medical staff corridor.

“In the middle of the night, some parents who are accompanying their children will quietly come out and kneel here to pray.”

Jiang Si had already concealed their presence, so they wouldn't attract anyone's attention here except for Fang Xiaoqing.

At that moment, the clock struck exactly midnight.

The moment the second crossed twelve o'clock, Jiang Si felt that the atmosphere here had completely changed, as if yin and yang had switched.

Fang Xiaoqing was stunned for a moment, then shook her head, ignored Jiang Si and the others, and obediently walked back to her nurses' station.

In the middle of the night, almost everyone was asleep, and only the emergency lights underfoot were on in the corridor.

Only at the nurses' station were two nurses on duty, listlessly tapping and banging away.

But at night, this scene is all too familiar.

Although this is an intensive care unit, most people are resting at night.

From the corner, Qi Yan quietly crawled out, only daring to peek out, and commented, "I sensed an ominous aura."

Jiang Si pressed him back down, "Do you even need to tell me that? Even a fool would know that."

"The yin energy is so strong, it's like the ghost realm," Han Yunluo said.

Just as they were about to look at that wall, they saw the door of one of the wards open, and an elderly woman with a slightly unsteady gait came out. She walked shakily toward the wall.

Unlike during the day, her expression was a mix of madness and numbness, her mouth opening and closing as if she were saying something.

Jiang Si and Han Yunluo exchanged a glance and followed.

Anyway, no one can see them.

The old man knelt heavily on the ground with a loud thud in the quiet night, but strangely, it didn't elicit any reaction from anyone. The nurses at the station were still banging on the floor, while Fang Xiaoqing glanced over but didn't move.

The old woman stood upright, her hands clasped together, her eyes closed: "Great Immortal, I am willing to exchange my life for my son's life, please grant my request."

He kept repeating this phrase to himself.

It's pretty creepy late at night.

But this does not include Jiang Si and Han Yunluo.

They remained unchanged in the face of all changes, wanting to see what kind of monster was playing tricks here.

Before long, water slowly seeped back into the wall. It was so cold that it formed small droplets that hung on the wall, and the water droplets coalesced into a human shape.

A phantom appeared on the wall, and the phantom reached out and gently placed its hand on the old man's head: "Heaven recognizes your sincerity and will surely grant your wishes."

"He's draining life force!" Han Yunluo pursed her lips tightly.

Jiang Si saw through it too. She immediately cast a barrier to isolate herself from the outside world and scolded, "Stop pretending to be a ghost!"

Han Yunluo stepped forward and pulled the person out, placing her hand on the old lady to calm her down temporarily.

Unexpectedly, the phantom was not afraid at all. Instead, it laughed, its laughter high-pitched and arrogant: "Who do we have here? It's Jiang Si. Long time no see. How are you?"

His words suggested he was somewhat familiar with Jiang Si.

Jiang Si felt annoyed, "Who hasn't seen you in a long time?"

She slammed a talisman against the wall, but to her surprise, the other party didn't react at all and even fanned the flames: "Tsk tsk, this isn't my physical body, don't waste your energy."

Jiang Si squinted, drew her Cold Light Sword, and ran her finger along the blade. The blade turned blood red from the blood, and blood-red runes reappeared. She then slashed at the illusory figure.

The phantom didn't dodge, saying with a mocking tone, "I never thought Master Jiang would be powerless at times."

Jiang Si chuckled but didn't say anything.

No matter how much she isn't a physical entity, she will still be connected to the real person, tainted by the karma of her blood. She will chase after her no matter where she flees to.

Of course, Jiang Si was not one to engage in verbal sparring.

She wouldn't tell this secret to just anyone, and those who did know it are all dead.

Jiang Si didn't respond, and the illusory figure probably also felt it was pointless, considering the place was now useless, so it left without looking back.

That person told him that if he encountered Jiang Si, he shouldn't fight her, but should run away if possible.

The phantom was unwilling to accept this; one day, she would trample Jiang Si into the ground.

As the phantom fled, the wall returned to its original state, and the water disappeared, leaving only sticky marks on the wall surface.

The old lady had already fainted.

Jiang Si transferred some of her vital energy to the old lady, otherwise the old lady might not have been able to hold on.

Although she was called an old lady, judging from her appearance, Jiang Si thought she was only in her early fifties, but her hair had turned completely gray.

This is the result of life force being exhausted.

As life force fades, the soul returns to the underworld.

Jiang Si and Han Yunluo took the person back to the ward. When they removed the barrier, the yang energy inside began to circulate, and the person recovered.

Fang Xiaoqing looked at the computer in front of her with a puzzled expression: Wasn't she just bringing Jiang Si and the others in?

Where are people now?

She quickly got up to look for it, and the nurse next to her stopped what she was doing and asked, "Where are you going?"

"Pee."

Fang Xiaoqing made a hasty exit to urinate and walked towards that wall. She wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the eerie feeling she used to have was gone.

Could it be that Master Jiang has already captured the ghost?

Just as I was wondering what was going on, my phone rang in my pocket.

It's Jiang Si.

[Jiang Si: Everything is alright for now.]
