Chapter 169 Another Underling

The man raised his thin eyelids and sized up Jiang Si, a hint of interest appearing in his eyes. His tone was somewhat flippant, "She is quite a beauty."

“I’m always tolerant of beautiful women,” he said gracefully as he descended from the tree. “Tell me, what brings you here?”

They seemed to see Jiang Si as no threat at all.

Jiang Si was secretly alarmed and became cautious.

She always prefers to subdue people with force when fighting, and what she does most is to suppress others with her own intimidation so that they will obediently surrender, saving her the trouble of wasting her energy.

But the person in front of me was completely unaffected.

"It's nothing," Jiang Si said, suppressing her imposing manner. "It's just that the people in the castle below don't know how long you've been trapped."

Since they are all Chinese, Jiang Si wouldn't mind lending a hand.

The man in front of her raised his handsome eyebrows slightly, looking at Jiang Si with even greater interest.

"The prophecy has indeed come true."

"I'm curious, can you really save them from the fire?"

The man took a few steps closer and stopped in front of Jiang Si. "Are you really capable of dealing with me?" His tone was full of distrust.

This wasn't the first time Jiang Si had heard this.

The old man in the castle also said that one day a destined person would come to rescue them, and she was that destined person.

Who could have predicted this event hundreds of years ago?

Did someone foresee everything that would happen to her?

"What do you mean by this?" Jiang Si asked.

Fortunately, the man wasn't in a hurry to fight Jiang Si. "Hundreds of years ago, a man from your country came here and said, 'You are the only one who can bring me death.'"

As he spoke, the man took a step back and politely extended his hand: "Please, I hope you can truly subdue me."

Looking at the excited light in his eyes, Jiang Si almost thought he really wanted to die.

Jiang Si: "Since you're determined to die, why don't you just stand there and let me hit you?"

Jiang Si generally doesn't like to persuade people who are determined to die or unknown creatures.

Life and death are preordained, wealth and honor are determined by fate; good words are hard to persuade a ghost destined to die.

The man tilted his head slightly, and after a moment smiled: "Indeed, an interesting person."

He closed his eyes, spread his hands, and said, "Come on." He was eagerly anticipating death.

Jiang Si didn't hold back either. This man had trapped someone in the castle for so many years; sentencing him to death for illegal detention wouldn't be excessive.

Jiang Si had never heard of Western vampire bat demons. Based on the original owner's experience, she only had a vague impression of them from vampire movies. However, they were all evil creatures, and the underlying principles should be the same.

Jiang Si drew her Cold Light Sword, channeling all her magical power into it, and slashed down with a single blow. This strike contained ninety percent of Jiang Si's power, possessing a devastating effect. The cave exploded from the impact of the magical power.

However--

The man spat out blood. Looking at his habitat, which had been cleaved in two, he was unusually speechless, and asked very seriously, "Is this all you have?"

Even with 90% of his power, he couldn't kill him with a single sword strike?

Jiang Si: "..."

She encountered a Waterloo unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

She never imagined she could be this bad one day.

She didn't believe it when she stepped forward; the vampire bat demon was indeed injured, but it was far from fatal.

"Who turned you into this?" Jiang Si asked.

Jiang Si believed it must be due to external reasons.

Upon hearing this, the man laughed with a strange expression.

"As expected, he was right."

"Who exactly is he?" Jiang Si asked.

"I don't know." Jiang Si was still somewhat injured from the sword strike. The man coughed a few times, found a broken rock and sat down. "He said if you can't kill me with one lift, it's because your magic power is not up to par. He gave you a chance, so don't blame him."

Jiang Si: "..."

This is completely nonsensical; what kind of lunatic is this?

"What does he look like?" Jiang Si asked, changing her question.

"Ahem," the vampire coughed a few times and said, "Wearing a white robe, he looks young and good-looking, but he has a somewhat strange air about him."

Jiang Si had met hundreds, if not thousands, of such people in her lifetime.

“Well then,” Jiang Si said with a smile, not bothering to argue, “you take back the blood that fell on those people, and then we’ll part ways, okay?”

“No, that won’t do.” The vampire shook his head. “Unless you promise me one thing.”

"What is it?" Jiang Si asked cautiously.

"Only you can take me out of this manor. If you agree and find a way to kill me, I will agree."

In Jiang Si's limited life, she had never encountered such an oddball.

"Don't worry, I only drink blood for fun."

Jiang Si: "..."

Do you think I believe you?

I can't kill you, but if you go out and cause widespread suffering, she won't be able to atone for her sins no matter how many lifetimes of good deeds she accumulates.

Jiang Si refused the three-part refusal.

Seemingly surprised that Jiang Si wouldn't agree to something so simple, the vampire was somewhat bewildered. He quickly assured her again and again, "I can pledge my blood to you as my master and obey your commands."

The wife could never have imagined that someone would agree to such a humiliating and disgraceful act.

"Why would you do that?" she asked incredulously.

The vampire gave a bitter laugh: "What else can I do? Am I supposed to stay trapped in this place for thousands of years, unable to live or die?"

He was already handsome, and that sad smile was somewhat unbearable to watch, even for someone like Jiang Si who had never been in a relationship.

For the sake of the handsome guy, it seemed like she might be able to agree.

Since I've already taken in two followers, taking in one more won't hurt.

While Li Jianshan was waiting anxiously downstairs, he saw his master return.

A man in somewhat tattered clothes followed behind.

He has black hair and black eyes, but his facial features clearly indicate that he is a foreigner.

"Who is he?" Li Jianshan asked.

"Hello," the man said politely, his tattered clothes not affecting his demeanor at all. "You can call me Zhao Huaishu." Perhaps it was because he was about to embark on a journey to freedom, but his tone was very relaxed and cheerful, and one could even detect a hint of pride in it.

Sure enough, his next sentence was: "This is the name my mother gave me, meaning to have a broad mind and a generous spirit. Oh, she is also Chinese."

Jiang Si heard a hint of bitterness in his voice.

Her mother gave her a name with a meaningful connotation, yet he never had the chance to introduce her to anyone.

Zhao Huaishu kept his word and took back every drop of blood he had shed among these people.

Blood gathered in his heart, eventually forming a bright red droplet, which he even generously took out. "Once the blood is taken back, it will completely lose its effect. Does anyone want to keep it as a souvenir?"

Everyone shook their heads.

Who would want that thing? Isn't it bad luck enough?

Zhao Huaishu felt a little regretful.

The old man and his clan, now free, were extremely grateful to Jiang Si: "We will never forget Master Jiang's life-saving grace. We only have some small gifts, and we hope that Master Jiang will accept them with a smile."

"Take it out," the old man instructed.
