Chapter 276 Sin

"Burn these things," Jiang Si instructed Guan Qingchen.

Before coming here, Jiang Si went to the city's most famous paper craft shop and ordered thirteen sets of gorgeous clothes, all of which were the latest trendy styles.

Along with the clothes, some modern daily necessities also burned, such as cosmetics, mobile phones, bags, and so on.

Guan Qingchen had seen Jiang Si perform rituals before, but never like this, with these items attached.

Jiang Si said calmly, "They died with barely any clothes on, so we should at least give them some dignity, otherwise they won't come out later."

Guan Qingchen listened and then remained silent.

Instead, they quietly added money to order paper replicas of luxury sports cars and large villas, agreeing to pick them up after placing the order.

"At their age, their parents may have passed away long ago. They shouldn't be left without even a house down there."

"I've picked out clothes for you, so please put them on."

Guan Qingchen vaguely heard some sounds, but they were not clear.

As the clothes burned out, several people emerged from the thick trunk of the locust tree, still looking somewhat embarrassed.

They were wearing the clothes they had just burned.

Upon seeing Guan Qingchen, she took another step back.

At first, Guan Qingchen didn't understand, but in a moment she realized it.

He stepped back, almost to the very edge, so as not to put any pressure on them.

Perhaps in their lives, the last image they see is of different men abusing them, leaving them with hatred and fear of men.

Guan Qingchen knew that perhaps some of the perpetrators of the violence back then had already died, but their descendants were still continuing the evil deeds.

Why bother saving these people?

It would be better to go straight down to the eighteenth level of hell; the taste of that oil cauldron is so delicious, how could they not experience it?

Jiang Si glanced back at Guan Qingchen's figure. "Before I came, I chanted sutras for you to help you pass on to the afterlife. You can go directly to the underworld to report and wait for reincarnation, or I can send you back to see your loved ones one last time."

Thanks to Jiang Si's chanting and reincarnation, the resentment in their bodies has been completely dispelled.

"Really?" Everyone was excited to hear that they could go back and see their loved ones.

They harbored deep resentment in life, and after death, they lived in a daze, their hearts consumed by resentment, for decades.

“Of course,” Jiang Si said. “I will take you back now, and in 24 hours, ghost messengers will come to pick you up.”

Jiang Si pulled out a spirit-dispelling talisman, flicked it with her hand, and the talisman spontaneously combusted without wind. "Soul, return quickly."

As soon as the words were spoken, the thirteen wronged souls in front of them vanished from the spot.

The locust tree spirit sighed, "Isn't this a rather great sacrifice you've made? Is it worth it for some strangers?"

"This is the mission of my Qingyun Sect. There's nothing to be ashamed of or not as worthwhile as it is," Jiang Si said calmly, thinking of those bygone days.

Even though she has now joined the Qingqiu sect with her adoptive brother, it was Qingyun Temple that raised and nurtured her.

In her heart, she never forgot her master's teachings.

Jiang Si's face was a little pale, and Guan Qingchen helped her sit down under a tree.

After resting for a short while, Jiang Si said, "Come out, stop hiding."

Guan Qingchen: "???"

How could he not have noticed someone was there?

Ge Li was still dressed in black, and his old tattoos were still visible through his half-rolled-up sleeves.

"Thank you."

Jiang Si found it somewhat amusing, "And from what standpoint are you thanking them on their behalf?"

Ge Li smiled and didn't say anything more. "I will turn myself in."

He killed the fifteen people who disappeared in the village.

This village is notorious for its evil deeds, yet it has never suspected that the disappearances were committed by its own people.

Ge Li went out to make his way in the world at a very young age. By taking the knife for the boss a few times, he became the third-in-command and had a lot of influence in the gang.

He dreamed of returning home in glory.

That very night, however, they saw a woman with tattered clothes running out of their second uncle's house at the village entrance.

The second uncle even had the audacity to say to Ge Li, "Nephew, help your second uncle stop her. This bitch actually dares to run away."

Ge Li will never forget the despair in that woman's eyes when she looked at him.

He simply stood there, making no move, while the woman was pulled back into the courtyard.

Soon, the sound of a woman weeping came from the courtyard.

He remembered that the moonlight was very bright that night.

When he returned a year later, he heard that the woman had died in childbirth.

Two lives lost, one unborn.

He knew that some people in the village were abducting women from outside the village, and even his mother had been abducted, but she had resigned herself to her fate.

In his memory, his mother had never smiled, never smiled at anyone, including him.

Perhaps it wasn't resignation, but rather a feeling of utter despair.

The woman died on a winter night. The next day was the first day of the Lunar New Year, and the next morning the mother also hanged herself.

From that day on, he never returned to the village.

Looking back now, perhaps my mother didn't resign herself to fate, but rather her heart was dead, and that woman's death gave her the greatest courage.

After all, what hatred could possibly warrant her hanging herself in the middle of the hall, so that people who get up early on New Year's Day could see her swaying corpse and her unseeing eyes as soon as they step out of their rooms?

When he returned, he heard the villagers talking about old jokes, showing no respect for those who had been trafficked and died in the village.

Seeing Ge Li, he seemed to recall that his mother had also passed away in the same way, and said with a forced smile, "Oh, it's all in the past. It's just a pity that so-and-so hasn't found a wife yet."
