Chapter 52 Strange Runes

After only a second of contemplation, the two forgot all about what the underworld was like and anxiously shook the bells in their hands.

Just then, Yu Wenhai felt the soul-guiding bell in his hand burning hot and faintly glowing, as if a force was trying to break free from their grasp.

Remembering Jiang Si's words, Yu Wenhai quickly released his strength and followed the directions forward.

After many twists and turns, they arrived at a stage.

The opera was being sung loudly on stage, and there were many audience members below who gave tips when they enjoyed the performance.

The gifts included everything imaginable, from gold ingots and incense to even a bone from someone's own body.

He gave it to the female lead in the opera, reciting lines as he did so: "I'm giving you my rib. In the next life, will you be my rib and let me take care of you for the rest of my life?"

Yu Wenhai and Zhao Huijing were naturally familiar with such lines, and couldn't help but twitch their lips.

The people down here are quite up-to-date.

No, they were just like those ghosts to begin with.

The soul-guiding bell in their hands exerted an increasingly strong pull, drawing them to the side. There they saw their foolish son standing behind the stage pillar, grinning foolishly as he sang along to the opera.

When he got really into the song, he couldn't help but dance around.

Jiang Si told them that Yu Zhong had come to the underworld with one soul and two spirits. They couldn't tell whether it was a soul or a spirit. They were genuinely happy that he had found someone so quickly, but their feelings were also somewhat complicated.

Their son always projected a cool image, both on and off stage, but who would have thought that after letting loose, his true self would turn out like this.

If there were a camera, it would be considered a major stain on his life's history.

Just then, Yu Zhong looked over and stared intently at the soul-guiding bell in their hands.

Yu Wenhai shook the soul-summoning bell vigorously and said, "Chongchong, come here quickly."

“Chongchong,” Zhao Huijing’s voice choked with emotion, “Come quickly to Mommy.” Her son was moving.

The Soul-Guiding Bell has a natural attraction for Chong, so he stopped dancing and singing along and jumped off the platform, staring intently at the Soul-Guiding Bell the whole way.

Without complete souls, Yu Zhong would not recognize them.

The two composed themselves and continued to let the soul-guiding bell lead them.

The second location is near the Naihe Bridge, where they wander helplessly, as if searching for something.

As the two approached, they heard Yu Zhong softly murmur a name: Hu Zi.

Tiger is Yu Zhong's childhood friend. He was nicknamed Tiger because he looked chubby and sturdy when he was little.

Unfortunately, they were unlucky. While playing outside, they accidentally drowned when they were only seven years old.

For the next three or four years, Yu Zhong had nightmares and only gradually improved after receiving psychological intervention.

I never imagined that Yu Zhong would still remember this after all these years.

They felt a pang of sadness.

As he approached the past, Yu Zhong was also drawn to the Soul-Guiding Bell.

As a result, the two Yu Zhong stared at the Soul-Guiding Bell and repeatedly tried to touch it.

The incense for guiding the soul had burned halfway, and they only had one last person, Yu Zhong, left to find.

They encouraged themselves, telling themselves they would definitely find it.

But it seems they set their goals too early. The Soul-Guiding Bell was guiding them, but they walked for a long time without reaching their destination.

And the further we went, the more remote we became, with only something overhead, I don't know if it's called the moon, providing light. Apart from the path beneath our feet, everything around us was pitch black, and we couldn't see anything more than five meters away.

In the shadows, there are bright red flowers.

Perhaps it should be the red spider lily.

It was as bright and fiery as fire, but now it only added to the terror.

Jiang Si once said that the underworld is similar to the mortal world; bad people become bad ghosts when they die, so one must always be careful.

They swallowed hard, gripped the red thread tightly with one hand, and each grabbed one of their sons with the other.

Fortunately, nothing serious happened, except for the scary part.

But they couldn't find the last one.

If Yu Wenshao and Zhao Huijing hadn't been so determined, they probably would have gone crazy by now.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, when only a little of the Soul-Guiding Incense remained, they finally saw Yu Zhong's figure.

Ahead was something resembling a cave, with a dark iron door at the entrance, engraved with intricate patterns.

It was as if something ominous was being suppressed inside.

Yu Zhong stood blankly at the door.

Fortunately, the iron gate was closed, otherwise they were worried that Yu Zhong would run in.

They were curious about what was behind the iron gate, but they wouldn't do anything reckless.

As they approached, they felt the red thread in their hands seem to tremble slightly, as if in response to something.

Moreover, the closer they get, the stronger the resistance they feel.

No wonder no ghosts are coming this way; it must be the evil spirits inside causing trouble.

They exchanged a glance, convinced that there was definitely nothing good inside.

Let the master handle the master's affairs.

They are just ordinary people.

Yu Zhong was interested in both the iron gate and the soul-guiding bell, his head bobbing from side to side as if hesitating about which one to approach.

Zhao Huijing cried out in her heart: Son, are you still considering this? There's definitely something bad behind that door. What good ghost would be trapped there!

Those trapped inside must be the people who committed heinous crimes, as depicted on television.

Overcoming their fear of what lay behind the door, they quickly approached their son and pulled him over with brute force.

Having gathered their son's soul, the two did not delay and quickly rang the soul-guiding bell three times.

Then Jiang Si will send them back.

Jiang Si, standing in the courtyard, looked at the moon in the sky, her brows furrowed. Time was running out; if she couldn't find it by then, she would have no choice but to accept her fate.

Just as he was about to cast a spell to summon them back, three bells rang in his ears.
