"Gift?"
Hearing Ai's words, Akemi glanced towards the bathroom and thought:
"Did Shiho hear that?"
She suddenly remembered that when she was talking to Guangyou about the painting, she didn't seem to have lowered her voice.
If Ai overhears their conversation, wouldn't Kousuke's carefully prepared surprise be wasted?
Akemi knew her younger sister's personality well.
Even though Ai hasn't mentioned the painting yet, if she did hear it, she would pretend she didn't hear it in order to prevent Kousuke's preparations from going to waste.
Just like it is now.
Just now, Kōyū mentioned "wedding" and she mentioned "festival". If Ai had overheard their conversation...
It wasn't hard for her to imagine that Guangyou wanted to give her a gift during these holidays or at his wedding.
This explains why Ai blushed earlier.
Even knowing that Ai might already know that Mitsuyu is going to give her a painting, Akemi won't bring it up.
What if?
What if Ai didn't hear it?
With this in mind, Akemi asked with a calm expression:
"Shiho, have you decided what to give Kouyu?"
"Not yet." Ai shook her head and said, "That's why I wanted to ask you, sister, if you have any suggestions."
She had no idea what Akemi was thinking in those few seconds.
What she was thinking was quite different from the truth:
She thought that Guangyou might propose to her in a special way on some holiday.
The truth is, "wedding" and "festival" are two completely different things.
The former is the promise that Kousuke made to Akemi, and the latter is Akemi asking Kousuke when he plans to give the painting to Ai.
"Gifts..."
Before Akemi could finish speaking, Ai seemed to anticipate what she was going to say next, and interrupted her in advance:
"elder sister."
"I know that the most important thing about a gift is the thought behind it."
"But can you offer any concrete suggestions?"
"I wanted to prepare a special gift for him."
"Well..." Akemi couldn't think of anything good to give, so she shook her head and said, "I haven't decided yet either."
Ordinary gifts are relatively easy to choose.
But if you add a "special" restriction, it becomes much harder to come up with a solution.
What makes something special?
How special do you want it to be?
These are all problems.
What she considers special, Ai and Mitsuyu might not find special as well.
Seeing that her older sister was also undecided, Ai told her what she had been thinking.
Of course, she deliberately omitted a small part of the content:
"I originally wanted to give him a novel, a game console, or sing him a song, cook him a meal, or paint him a picture..."
"But I felt these were too ordinary."
Akemi had a different opinion regarding Ai's words:
"I think these gifts are nice."
"Special... doesn't necessarily mean the gift has to be special."
"Is it okay if the recipient is special?"
Being the person Kwangyu likes already makes her identity quite special.
Ai had also thought of this. She frowned slightly, nodded, and said:
"Yes, that's possible."
"However, I still want to prepare something a little more special."
"I'll think about it some more."
"Anyway, we haven't decided when to deliver it."
She had originally planned to give it to Guangyou when he gave her a gift.
But she didn't know the exact time.
So she abandoned the idea and decided to choose another date to send the gift.
Christmas is still a while away, and Guangyou's birthday hasn't arrived yet, so there's plenty of time to prepare.
Seeing her younger sister, who was pondering what gift to give Kōyū, Akemi smiled with satisfaction.
This would never have happened in the past.
...
While the two sisters were discussing what gift to give each other, Kwang-woo was comfortably lying in the bathtub, pondering important matters:
"Contact Judy when you get back."
"Let's see if we can get Shuichi Akai to come out."
"I think I've only made an agreement with Judy so far; I haven't fully established connections with the FBI yet."
"It would be perfect if Shuichi Akai could help open the door."
"Rena Mizunashi and Tooru Amuro are not in contact at the moment."
"The former is alright. He's a well-known host who appears in public frequently. If you use some methods to make contact, it shouldn't be too difficult."
"Can Toru Amuro..."
"Do we have to wait for him to go work at the coffee shop downstairs?"
“And Mary Akai and the others should still be in England.”
"It won't be possible to get here in a short time."
"Looking at it this way..."
"The situation isn't very good either."
The FBI has a fair amount of information, but it's not a huge amount either.
Not to mention, there were only a few people who came to Japan this time.
Excluding Judy and Shuichi Akai, that leaves Carmel and James, along with some nameless extras from the FBI in Japan.
With just these few people, it would be a stretch to deal with the distillery.
The only solution is to take them down one by one.
This is also the FBI's current mission objective.
But so far, the FBI has still not made a move.
We may have caught a lot of small fry, but these small fry know very little about the distillery, so catching them or not makes little difference.
He let out a breath and muttered to himself:
"In any case, we need to get in touch with Shuichi Akai as soon as possible."
