Chapter 1159 The Treasure

"Also because it records my inner conflicts."

"Therefore, I also call this black notebook the 'Book of Demons'."

"It's so cringeworthy, isn't it?"

"That's what I think too."

I won't waste any more time on this nonsense.

"If you want to know, open your notebook."

"I allow it."

There was also a line of small print in the bottom right corner of the note.

"Open it."

After reading the note, Ai also recalled what happened back then.

She still remembers what Guangyou said to her.

What she said about Kwang-yu at the time.

After regaining her senses, Ai turned her attention back to the so-called "Book of Demons".

Only after receiving Guangyou's permission did she pick up the black notebook and open it.

The first page of the notebook had a line of text written on it.

It was also written for Ai.

"Do we really want to open it?"

It was as if they were trying to dissuade Ai from pursuing this idea.

However, there is another line of smaller text below this line.

"Open it."

Next to this line of text, Kwang-woo also drew a few cute emoticons.

Seeing this, Ai chuckled softly:

"That's really true."

But as the pages went on and framed illustrations appeared, Ai gradually lost her smile.

Her expression gradually became serious.

Framed drawing...

Actually, calling it "comic" might be more appropriate.

The comic's title is simple, and Kōyū has placed it at the beginning of each page:

If I had never existed

This comic has no ending; it abruptly ends midway.

She determined the approximate time when she saw the last page of the comic.

That was when the accident happened.

That accident was actually a good thing.

Because of that accident, her relationship with Kwang-yu developed further.

And it's no longer limited to just a light kiss on the cheek.

She also remembered that after returning from Mingmei Apartment that time, Guangyou's extreme lack of security improved a lot.

After finishing the unfinished comic, Ai frowned slightly and said with a somewhat downcast tone:

"I never imagined he had thought about these things before."

"If it were me, maybe..."

After putting herself in Kōyū's shoes, Ai pursed her lips and muttered to herself:

"Maybe my condition is even worse than his."

"He was clearly hiding something big in his heart, but he still pretended that nothing was wrong."

"What an idiot."

"Did you think that doing that back then would stop me from worrying?"

"But it's because you didn't tell me that I'm even more worried."

After talking to herself, Ai, with a slightly heavy heart, continued to turn the pages.

Comics come after paintings.

To be precise, they are a series of paintings about Ai.

The most frequently drawn image is Ai Haibara smiling.

Different scenes, different outfits.

It could be in the middle of a lush, beautiful flowerbed, or on a stretch of sandy beach.

She might be wearing a pure white dress or a simple straw hat.

The scene changes, the outfit changes.

The only thing that remained unchanged was the subtle yet captivating smile at the corner of her lips.

Looking at these portraits of herself, Ai's heavy heart was relieved.

A smile then bloomed on her face.

Just like in the painting.

The upward curve of her lips wasn't very pronounced.

It comes from the heart and is enough to captivate people.

Anyway, that's what Guangyou thinks.

Ai's gaze shifted downwards, and she noticed a line of small text below one of the paintings.

"Your smile is one of my most precious treasures to date."

I always write down the time when I finished each of my previous paintings.

But this one doesn't.

Did Guangyou forget to write it?

No, Ai knows what Kousuke means.

"Up to now" in this sentence means:

--Now.

When you see it, that's when you said it.

Tomorrow means "up to tomorrow".

The day after tomorrow means "until the day after tomorrow".

...

Until forever.

The rest of the notebook is mostly drawings.

All of them are paintings related to Ai Haibara.

One of the paintings is of "Shiho Miyano".

For example, a scene where "Ai Haibara" and "Shiho Miyano" stand together.

Some of his paintings were just things that Guangyou suddenly wanted to paint.

For some of the paintings, Guangyou even came up with a little story for them.

The stories are written in the blank areas around the painting.

Sitting on the edge of Kouyu's bed, Ai carefully looked at the contents of each page.

At first glance, her expression seemed unchanged.

He still had a smile on his face.

However, upon closer inspection, one can see that Ai's eyes are somewhat red.

Her heart was filled with emotion.

The notebook is quite thick, and Guangyou hasn't finished using it yet.

There are still many blank spaces.

After nearly half an hour, Ai finished reading all the contents of her notebook.

She was watching very carefully, so it naturally took her a long time.

Then, she got up, picked up her notebook, walked to her desk, and took a pen.

On the last page of the notebook where there was writing, Guangyou wrote a few lines:

“I used to call this notebook the ‘Book of Demons’.”

"Because it records my inner conflicts."

"But the 'Book of Demons' ended when I stopped drawing comics."

"The following content has absolutely nothing to do with the 'Book of Demons'."

"As the absolute female protagonist of this notebook, why don't you come up with a name?"
