After Conan came to his senses, he found himself at the entrance of the market: "Kuangyou, why did you bring me here?"
While looking at the market, Guangyou replied, "Of course I'll buy groceries and cook them myself. Eating at restaurants is too expensive."
"You can cook?" Conan slapped his forehead as soon as he finished speaking. "I forgot you just said that."
Guangyou pouted: "Silly goofball."
"What did you say?" Conan didn't quite catch it.
Pretending not to hear this, Kōyū dragged Conan on a stroll, while Conan felt as if a herd of alpacas was galloping through his mind.
Because Conan had already handed over all the groceries he bought, and Conan's hands were almost too heavy to carry them, Kōyū noticed this and reluctantly gave up his desire to continue grocery shopping.
In his previous life, Guangyou had few friends and few hobbies, with eating being one of his few remaining hobbies.
There's a saying that goes: A foodie who doesn't like being a chef isn't a true foodie.
With his hands empty, Kouyu finally arrived at Dr. Agasa's house with Conan's hands full. As soon as Dr. Agasa opened the door, he saw Conan's miserable state, quickly took the groceries from him, and invited the two of them into the house.
Guangyou carried the groceries and hummed a little tune as he entered the kitchen. Although Professor Agasa couldn't cook, the kitchen was still there, but it looked a bit messy because no one had used it for a long time.
Professor Agasa looked at Kousuke with a strange sense of unease, then leaned closer to Conan: "Shinichi, what are you guys planning to do? What's wrong with this kid?"
Conan glanced at the kitchen, then leaned close to the professor's ear and said, "This child also seems to have shrunk after taking the medicine, although he seems to deny it, and I've already told him about my situation."
Professor Agasa seemed surprised: "Really? What brings you here today?"
Conan gave a half-moon-shaped look and said speechlessly, "He said he wanted to celebrate our collaboration, and then he dragged me to the market, saying he was going to cook for us."
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, it's already dinnertime, even though I just left home at noon.
"Dinner's ready, Professor, Conan!"
Guangyou touched his earlobe with his hand and then put his finger to his lips and blew on it.
Conan and the professor, who were hiding in the laboratory, heard this and opened the door.
As soon as the door opened, a rich fragrance wafted into their nostrils, and they were immediately captivated by the aroma, as if they had floated over.
Professor Agasa looked at the food on the table and took a deep sniff with his big nose: "It smells so good!"
Conan pointed at the food and said, "This looks like Chinese food, doesn't it?"
Guangyou nodded and said, "Yes, you could eat Chinese food for a hundred years and never get tired of it!"
Looking at the food on the table, Guangyou felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Dishes emphasize color, aroma, and taste, and all three are indispensable. "Color" does not refer to physical appearance, but rather to the dish's appearance. Just like people, if a person is good-looking, they will leave a good first impression. If you are not good-looking, you can only rely on fate to meet someone who can understand you.
"Fragrance" is easy to understand; it refers to flavor, the flavor of all aspects.
"Taste" is like a person; a person's "taste" is their inner self, and their attitude towards others and their work is their "taste".
When you possess all three qualities, you're sure to be a popular person; the same applies to food.
Kōyū introduced each dish to Professor Agasa one by one: "Although I don't know if you can stomach it, I'll still introduce it to you. This dish is called Squirrel Mandarin Fish, and next to it is Three Treasures of the Earth, but it's not in season yet, so the taste will be a bit off. Then there's braised pork, cold seaweed salad, a plate of Japanese tofu, and finally a bowl of light winter melon and pork rib soup."
Conan and Professor Agasa couldn't wait any longer and sat down immediately. Although they were clearly eager to eat, judging from how they kept swallowing, their good upbringing prevented them from doing anything inappropriate.
Seeing their reaction, Guangyou didn't say anything. He simply said, "Let's eat!" and the two of them, following Japanese dining etiquette, said, "I'm going to start eating," and then began to wolf down their food.
In terms of food culture, Japan and China have some similarities. For example, you shouldn't stick your chopsticks directly into rice, because they believe that only the dead should do that. The difference is that Japanese people often make noise when drinking soup or eating noodles. In China, this might be considered impolite or unsightly, but in Japan, it means that the food is delicious and that they are praising the food and the chef.
Guangyou smiled contentedly as he looked at the two of them.
After finishing their meal, Professor Agasa and Conan patted their bulging bellies and let out a rather unrefined burp.
Conan turned to Kouyu and said, "This is so delicious! To be honest, hiccup, I, hiccup, I've never eaten anything this delicious in my life."
Dr. Agasa, who usually only eats fast food boxes and instant noodles, nodded vigorously in agreement.
Guangyou squinted and rested on the sofa for a while before tidying up the table.
...
Night fell, and Guangyou lay on his bed staring at the ceiling.
He remained expressionless, but was inwardly extremely excited.
"I guess that counts as progress..."
"Hope it goes well..."
