They didn't return home until the tremors subsided more than ten minutes later.
...
Meanwhile, a group of people were standing in the forest outside the underground fortress.
Although everyone was covered in a mixture of blood and dirt and looked disheveled, they all had a slight smile on their faces.
Because they succeeded.
Apart from some researchers and medical personnel who were tricked into coming here, everyone in the distillery headquarters, including Karasuma Renya, has been buried underground along with this abandoned underground fortress that was abandoned half a century ago.
As for Vermouth, she was unharmed.
After Guangyou and his group successfully infiltrated the underground fortress, she met with Guangyou alone, said hello, and then left.
However, only Guangyou knew about this.
It wasn't them who collapsed the underground fortress, but Karasuma Renya.
The reason for doing this was that Karasuma Renya wanted to destroy some data and, incidentally, see if he could drag them down with him.
Fortunately, they communicated with each other and evacuated in time. Only a few people, including him, fainted, and only three people were in critical condition.
Fortunately, none of these people have lost vital signs yet.
According to the initial examination by the medical personnel, and with their simple treatment, the chances of survival are high if further treatment is timely.
Even after the mission is over, there's still a lot to do.
For example, sending the injured for treatment, settling the rescued scientific and medical personnel, and planning future explorations of the underground fortress.
Moreover, the distillery has not been completely destroyed.
This is just the headquarters of the brewery; there are many branches around the world, including the Karasuma Group, which is the brewery's "legitimate" source of income.
The remaining parts cannot be completely removed in a short time, but it is only a matter of time.
This is thanks to the winery's strict grading system.
Only a few people have code names; most of the people who work for the distillery are low-level employees without code names.
If the lower-level staff don't have any tasks, they are no different from ordinary people. In fact, many of them have never even performed any tasks. It doesn't matter if they are taken care of later.
Their current focus should be on the core members with codenames, such as Chianti, Cohen, and a few others.
Once all the codenamed members are taken down, this organization is basically finished.
The heads of several organizations are also discussing the specifics of these matters.
In addition, the FBI, CIA, MI6, Japanese Public Security Bureau, and even Mitsuyuki all gained considerable benefits in this operation.
For example, the Japanese Public Security Bureau obtained a list of personnel from the brewery in both political and business circles, as well as a list of properties owned by the brewery throughout Japan.
The FBI, CIA, and MI6 also obtained the distillery's overseas personnel lists, branch addresses, and other information.
These are mostly collective in nature. For example, Shuichi Akai and Mary Akai obtained information about Tsutomu Akai.
The good news is that Tsutomu Akai is suspected to still be alive.
Unfortunately, no definitive information was obtained regarding Tsutomu Akai.
Guangyou also gained something, and it was because of these things that he was injured and fainted.
If Kōyū were awake right now, he might smile and say:
"You have to give up something to gain something, and this time it was worth it."
...
Three hours later, the sun rose in the east, illuminating the entire sky.
In the sunless basement, Ai didn't realize this until she finished what she was doing and glanced at the time.
She muttered to herself:
"It's already morning."
"Go to sleep."
"So that he won't keep nagging when he gets back."
As soon as she finished speaking, Ai's smile faded, she pursed her lips, and said again:
"I wonder how he is doing there."
"I hope everything goes well."
After hanging up her white coat and changing into her pajamas, Ai lay on the bed, wanting to sleep for a while.
Perhaps it was out of concern for Guangyou's mental state, or perhaps it was because he had drunk a lot of coffee.
Even though she hadn't slept all night, she didn't feel sleepy at all.
She lay in bed with her eyes closed for almost half an hour before she felt a little sleepy.
Just then, the phone on the bedside table suddenly vibrated.
Ai wasn't asleep to begin with, and the vibration of her phone woke her up again.
Not many people know her phone number, so the person sending the message now is probably Guangyou.
"Looks like things are going pretty smoothly for him..."
With that thought in mind, Ai sat up, picked up her phone, and opened the text message she had just received.
However, what I saw was an address and a sentence:
"He's injured and is in the hospital now."
After reading the text message, Ai frowned slightly and pursed her lips.
She threw off the covers, got up, changed her clothes, went out, hailed a taxi, and headed to the hospital.
...
Arriving at the hospital according to the address, and finding Guangyou's ward, Ai stood in front of the door and muttered to herself:
"A familiar scene."
She snapped out of her daze and pushed open the door to go inside.
I spotted Shuichi Akai and Jodie at a glance.
"How is he?" Ai asked Judy as she walked to the bedside.
"His condition is relatively stable," Judy replied, looking at Kōyū lying on the hospital bed. "If nothing unexpected happens, he should wake up soon."
"I understand." Ai frowned slightly, looked at Kyou with concern, and nodded in response.
After explaining the situation to Ai, Jodie said goodbye to her:
"Alright, now that you're here, we should be going."
