Chapter 1260 Extra (Part 3): Conan's Departure

It's been a while since I returned from my trip.

On her third day back in Beika Town, Ai threw herself into the work of verifying the antidote.

Guangyou, on the other hand, was busy with other things.

On this day, Kwang-woo arrived at the bar carrying several gift bags.

He walked straight to the bar, put the bag aside, tapped the counter with his knuckles, and said to a plain-looking waitress with a serious expression:

"A glass of orange juice."

"You're back from your trip with your girlfriend?"

The waitress glanced at Guangyou before lowering her head to prepare the orange juice. Her words indicated that she and Guangyou knew each other and that she knew some things about him.

"I just got back a few days ago," Guangyou nodded in response.

Soon, a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice was placed in front of Guangyou.

He stirred it with the straw, took a sip, and then asked the waitress:

How are you feeling?

Are you getting used to it?

"Is there anything you're not used to?" the waitress asked Guangyou in return.

Remembering the woman's identity, Guangyou lightly patted his forehead, chuckled self-deprecatingly, and said:

"Too."

He then asked:

"Have you finished taking care of those things? Do you need any help?"

"No need for you, a busy person, to bother. It's just a matter of issuing a statement and dealing with a few remaining flies."

As she spoke, the waitress took a newspaper from under the bar and handed it to Guangyou.

The newspaper was entirely in English, and the front page featured a photograph of Chris Vineyard.

The gist of the news is that famous actress Chris Vineyard has announced her retirement from acting.

After Guangyou finished reading the headline, the waitress took out another newspaper, turned to one side, and handed it to Guangyou.

Guangyou took the newspaper and glanced at it.

The news reported that a local gang in New York was completely dismantled thanks to police efforts.

The waitress explained to Guangyou why she had shown him the news:

"This is an intelligence organization that is not recorded in the organization's documents, and it is also one of the sources of funding for the organization's members' activities in New York."

"I founded it entirely on my own."

"Hmm." Guangyou nodded and folded the two newspapers together, placing them aside.

Then he said to the waitress—no, to Vermouth:

"I've also spoken to the FBI on their behalf."

"Considering the immense help you provided, and out of respect for me, they may not arrest you and take you back, but they will have to send someone to supervise you."

"There are three main people: Jodie, Shuichi Akai, and myself, as well as some agents."

"As for your arrangements, you can choose to work as a school doctor at Teitan High School on weekdays, and work as a waiter in the evenings and on weekends."

"You can also choose not to be the school doctor and instead work as a waiter here."

After saying that, Guangyou added a special note:

"Of course, there are holidays."

"However, during holidays you can't just go wherever you want. Your activity range is limited to this area, unless there are special circumstances."

"I choose the former."

Almost as soon as Mitsuichi finished speaking, Vermouth made her choice.

There seem to be many restrictions, but in reality, she has many ways to leave if she wants to.

For example, disguising oneself as someone else.

But it's unnecessary.

For her, the so-called "freedom" held no appeal.

So what if she escapes?

What can it do?

Help the organization take revenge?

Stop joking.

Isn't the organization the culprit that turned her into this?

If it weren't for certain reasons, she probably would have started seeking revenge long ago.

Go back to acting?

Forget it, it's pointless. Besides, she's been acting for so many years, it's not worth her going to the trouble of running away.

In comparison, staying here as a school doctor at Teitan High School, even just watching her two "angels" from afar, is more interesting and meaningful than any of those other options.

"Just as I thought."

Her answer was exactly what Guangyou had expected. He took a sip of orange juice and then said:

"Okay, I'll talk to them for you later."

He had two main reasons for letting Vermouth work at the bar.

Firstly, we need to find a place for Vermouth and, incidentally, give her something to do.

Secondly, they wanted her to take the place of Numabuchi Kiichiro, who was turning himself in.

If any fools come looking for trouble or demand protection money, she can handle it, since the people in the bar are all ordinary people.

On a side note, after the mission was completed, Kiichiro Numabuchi voluntarily turned himself in to the Metropolitan Police Department.

According to him, he had no relatives or friends in this world, and his only obsession was to take revenge on the organization.

Now that his desire for revenge has been fulfilled, he has no regrets.

"Oh, right."

After taking another sip of orange juice, Guangyou remembered something.

He took three gift bags from a nearby bag and handed them to Vermouth, saying:

"This is a souvenir I brought for you, a specialty of Sapporo, Shiroi Koibito (White Lover)."

"Of course, there are some others as well."

"Thanks." Vermouth politely thanked her, without even glancing at the gift bag, and placed it down in front of the audience.

"Speaking of which, that organization turned you into the way you are now. Did you take any revenge actions before?"

Kōyū didn't know much about Vermouth.

All he knew was that she had a grudge against the organization, the specifics of which were unknown, and that Shinichi and Ran held special significance for her, as well as some other minor matters.

Therefore, he was very curious.

Faced with Kwang-woo's indirect question, Vermouth, who sensed Kwang-woo's thoughts, simply chuckled and uttered her favorite phrase:
