It was a little past three in the afternoon when three women who had been shopping were sitting in a dessert shop, enjoying afternoon tea.
"Ai, how have things been between you and Kousuke lately?" Eri asked with concern.
She knew the two were very close, but she still wanted to ask.
Even the closest relationships inevitably involve arguments in life.
"It's great." Ai placed the milk she was carrying on the table and replied, "We rarely argue, and we make up very quickly."
"That's good." Eri Kisaki was relieved to learn that the two were still on good terms. She said, "Fortunately, Mitsuyu doesn't have all of that guy's bad habits."
"I really envy you two," Yoko Okino exclaimed. "After all these years, your relationship is still as good as when you first fell in love."
After taking a small sip of milk, Ai slowly shook her head and said:
“My personality isn’t actually that great, and only he and my sister don’t find me annoying. In fact, he said he quite likes me.”
"I was just lucky to meet the right people, and I cherish them all."
"You'll meet them again someday."
"I hope so." Yoko Okino smiled, then asked curiously, "By the way, Ai, what's your favorite thing about Kousuke?"
She asked Kōsuke the same question, and Ai gave the same answer:
"Like him, all of them."
"If I had to choose one, I would probably choose his personality."
"It starts with looks, then you fall for personality." Yoko Okino repeated what Kosuke had said in a previous interview, and asked with a smile, "Right?"
"Mmm." Ai smiled slightly, giving an affirmative answer.
"Oh, right, Ai," Eri suddenly remembered something and asked, "Do you and Kousuke have any plans for the next few years?"
"plan?"
After a two-second pause, Ai Haibara finally understood what Eri Kisaki meant.
Instantly, a faint blush rose to her cheeks.
Fortunately, the afternoon sunlight streamed through the dessert shop's glass, gently illuminating her face and making it less noticeable.
Under the slightly expectant gaze of Eri Kisaki and the somewhat bewildered gaze of Yoko Okino, she uttered an "Mmm," then casually picked up the cup on the table and took a small sip.
She quickly composed herself, suppressed the faint blush on her face, put down the cup in her hand, opened her mouth slightly as if to say something, but then suddenly stopped.
Immediately afterwards, she acted as if nothing had happened, drinking her milk and chatting with Eri Kisaki and Yoko Okino.
...
While sitting on the sofa watching TV, Kōyū looked up and saw Ai returning home, so he got up to take the shopping bag from her hand.
He placed it on the sofa, then sat down and asked Ai:
Did you have fun today?
"I'm quite happy." Ai nodded, hung her coat on the hanger, and asked, "By the way, are you hungry? If you are, I'll cook you a bowl of noodles."
"Okay," Guangyou replied with a smile.
Two simple bowls of noodles, a fried egg, and a few pieces of char siu pork—that was their dinner for the day.
After finishing their meal, the two went up to the second-floor balcony.
For many years, after dinner, they would either go for a walk in the street, lie on the sofa and watch TV for a while, or simply go to the balcony to chat.
The weather is nice tonight. The moon is bright and clear, a few stars dot the night sky, a gentle breeze is blowing, and the temperature is pleasant.
The hanging rattan chair on the balcony swayed gently, and the two of them snuggled up on it, chatting while enjoying the night view.
When they talked about the issues they had discussed today, a strange look flashed in Ai's eyes.
She asked Guangyou:
Do you have any plans for the next few years?
Clearly, such a subtle question prevented Kōyū from grasping the deeper meaning behind Ai's words.
After thinking for a moment, he shook his head and said:
"I really don't have any plans."
"This is the kind of life I want most."
“I have relatives like Uncle Mori, friends like Kudo, and you by my side.”
"I'll take care of the children with you from now on, until we're old, and then we can talk about our youth like we do now."
Although his answer was unrelated to the question, Ai was quite satisfied with it, and while she was happy, it also aroused a bit of curiosity in her heart.
She asked:
"If you had never met me, what do you think your life would be like now?"
If this had happened before, Guangyou would have suspected that this girl was asking this because she thought he was a burden.
He wouldn't think that way now.
After a moment's thought, he gave his answer:
"Maybe it will be like this again."
"I'll start a small business, and once I'm financially independent, I'll find something else to do, and then I'll probably continue living like this."
He ran one hand through Ai's hair and said to her:
"Actually, I've thought about many possibilities."
"Being a star in the spotlight and a wealthy entrepreneur, but when I think about it carefully, what I am most satisfied with is the peaceful and tranquil life I have now."
"You don't have to worry about money, so you can do what you want to do."
"Most importantly, I have you by my side."
"I'm really satisfied."
He turned his head to look at Ai, his gaze gentle, his eyes filled with the affection that had grown stronger over the years.
Feeling a little embarrassed by Kōyū's gaze, Ai hummed in response and casually turned her head to look at the deep night sky.
Despite being in love for many years, Guangyou's confession still makes her blush and her heart race, causing her to involuntarily look away and avoid eye contact with him.
How could Guangyou not see through her deliberately feigned posture?
He hugged Ai tightly, bringing his face close enough for her to feel his breath as he spoke:
