If you get scolded, admit it; if you get hit, stand up straight. This time it really was Takagi's fault, so Takagi naturally nodded in agreement.
He was deeply moved when he saw Inspector Megure and Shiratori's reactions, and in the end, he also saw Miwako shed tears for him.
That scene was unforgettable for him.
Takagi's head still had bloodstains from the attack, which worried Miwako. She took out her handkerchief and wiped Takagi's dusty face.
Miwako gently wiped Takagi's face with a handkerchief in her delicate hands, which secretly pleased Takagi. He could no longer feel the pain in his head, and he shouted in his heart, "Worth it!"
Takagi briefly explained what had happened to him. Throughout the whole incident, what Miwako was concerned about was why Takagi hadn't broken the handcuffs.
Takagi stammered about it, but thankfully it was dark, otherwise the blush on his face would have been very noticeable.
Conan explained for Takagi, "Because he didn't want to damage those handcuffs."
Ayumi quickly recovered from being held hostage by the arsonist and, standing behind Conan, added, "Because that was Officer Sato's father's keepsake."
Genta understood what was going on and said, "That's why you can't bring yourself to do it."
"He just loves to play the hero too much." Mitsuhiko also expressed his helplessness regarding Takagi's behavior.
When Mitsuhiko said this, Mitsuyu looked at him in astonishment, thinking to himself, "Do you have the right to say that to him?"
Ai glanced at Takagi, who stood there like a wooden statue: "People like that often die quickly."
It was Takagi's momentary selfishness that led him into danger. If he had told Shiratori directly and sent the police to arrest the suspect, he wouldn't have almost died. Of course, if that had happened, Miwako wouldn't have shed tears for him.
After hearing the explanation, Miwako glanced at Takagi, who was standing next to her, blushing and unsure of what to say, and whispered, "Idiot."
After witnessing all of this, Shiratori smiled wryly, shook his head, greeted Inspector Megure, and left.
Guangyou shared the candied hawthorns he bought. It was the first time that Ayumi and the others had ever tried candied hawthorns. The sweet and sour taste and the unique texture made them all exclaim with admiration.
When Kōyū distributed the candied hawthorns to Takagi and Miwako, he gave Takagi a meaningful smile. Miwako, however, did not see Kōyū's smile as she peeled off the thin film from the candied hawthorns.
Takagi blushed slightly upon seeing that smile.
Urged on by Inspector Megure, Takagi and Miwako quickly joined the police. Takagi went to get his wound bandaged, while Miwako and Inspector Megure were to take the suspect back.
It was getting late, so Ayumi and her two companions said goodbye to the others and went home.
Conan walked ahead alone, while Mitsuyu and Ai followed behind, each carrying a candied hawthorn. Originally, Conan was walking alongside Mitsuyu, but after careful consideration, he didn't say a word and silently walked ahead, only occasionally glancing back at the two behind him.
The three of them had just stepped out of Beika Station when they heard Uncle Mori and Ran shouting.
Uncle Mori's drunken voice was very distinctive: "Ran! I want to drink more!"
Then, the three of them saw Ran carrying Uncle Mori on her back. Ran also noticed the three of them and asked, "Hey, you guys are back!"
Kōyū pointed at the flushed-faced Mori uncle: "Drunk again?"
Speaking of Uncle Mori, Ran got angry: "Yeah, it's one thing for me to pick him up, but he even came all the way to the station to drink, and he got so drunk, really!"
That being said, what surprised Ai was that Ran was carrying a drunk man on her back with such ease. She couldn't help but glance at Conan and whisper, "The great detective's days are probably going to be tough from now on."
As Ran walked toward the office, she complained about Uncle Mori's wise decision to drink next to the race station.
Suddenly, Conan noticed a red flyer in the back pocket of Uncle Mori's pants. Conan took it out, opened it, and immediately understood why Uncle Mori had done that.
He held up the flyer and said, "This flyer says that from eight to ten o'clock, you can eat and drink as much as you want for 2,000 yen without paying extra."
Xiaolan understood: "Really, Dad, you don't care about anything when you see this kind of news, and you even got so drunk!"
Uncle Mori was drunk, but not asleep. He completely ignored Ran's complaints and instead said with great pride, "What are you talking about! I only pay for one person's food and drink for three people. Isn't that a great deal?"
"Besides, I'm not drunk. I can still drink ten large cups!"
After saying that, Uncle Mori burst into laughter.
Suddenly, a window on the far right of the second floor of an apartment building next to them seemed unable to withstand Uncle Mori's laughter and burst open.
A young man's head popped out from the balcony of that room. After glancing outside, he turned and shouted into the room, "Don't litter, okay? You should go back inside!"
"Let me go back? You bastard, you dare tell me to go back?"
Then, something seemed to happen in the room, and judging from the young man's reaction, there appeared to be physical contact.
Ai didn't care about any of that. She ate the candied hawthorn in small bites, and it was clear that the candied hawthorn had also won over her taste buds.
"What should we do, Dad?"
As the saying goes, a person's character is revealed after drinking. Uncle Mori thought that since he had seen it, he might as well try to mediate the fight, even if it was a bit inappropriate. He swayed as he walked and prepared to break up the fight.
