Chapter 146 Giving You a Head Thumbs Up

The group entered the elevator to head to the Phoenix Room, where the celebration would be held. There was still some time before the elevator reached the floor where the Phoenix Room was located, and Sonoko was curious about what kind of person the groom, Harutsuki Kotaro, was.

Xiao Lan thought for a moment and said, "I heard people say he's a painter."

"He's just an unknown painter." Uncle Mori had heard about the groom before.

Upon learning that he was an unknown painter, Sonoko was somewhat disappointed: "An unknown painter. If it were me, I would definitely not want to be friends with him."

These words made Ran and Conan both smile wryly.

However, Kouyu could understand. After all, they were on completely different levels. It wasn't that Sonoko was acting like a rich girl; rather, it was because Sonoko was of a much higher class and had a somewhat naive personality. If a writer with little fame were to approach Sonoko, she would naturally think that the other party wanted to take advantage of her, which was perfectly normal.

If Ran and Shinichi hadn't been Sonoko's childhood friends, they probably wouldn't have had the chance to meet someone of Sonoko's caliber.

Upon arriving at Phoenix Room, the first thing to do is sign your name on the guest list.

"You still write so boldly."

Just as Uncle Mori was signing, a languid, queen-like voice made him pause slightly.

Looking back, Xiaolan exclaimed in surprise, "Mom!"

Uncle Mori turned around and saw it was Eri Kisaki, and said, "They invited you too?"

Eri explained, "Yes, Sara is a future lawyer in the legal profession, so naturally we know each other."

Eri Kisaki, who attended the banquet today, wore light makeup and a light purple dress, which was somewhat similar to Uncle Mori's unchanging suit.

Eri Kisaki's handwriting brought a lot of brilliance to Sonoko. Her handwriting was more delicate, with the swallowtails perfectly placed. Compared to Uncle Mori's handwriting, it was like heaven and earth.

After putting her bag away at the temporary storage area, Xiaolan went into the Phoenix Room where the celebration was being held.

The Phoenix Room was hosting a wedding banquet, so the overall color scheme was romantic white and pink, and love-themed music filled the room.

Phoenix Room wasn't small, but a large number of people had already arrived. However, due to Shiratori's work, a significant portion of these people were police officers. These police officers were easy to identify; they looked fierce and menacing, and the atmosphere was so tense that they were almost certainly police officers.

At what should have been a quiet and celebratory banquet, the police officers seemed out of place, each engaged in their own conversation. Uncle Mori didn't need to ask to know they were talking about the recent attack on police officers, a case that had made them lose all interest in eating, drinking, and having fun.

However, Miwako was an outlier among the police officers. She was dressed in a green outfit, with a necklace around her snow-white neck. She struck a pose in front of Takagi and asked, "Well, clothes make the man, right?"

"How can you say that? You look good even without this outfit. No, you look great in any outfit!" Takagi quickly replied, though it wasn't entirely untrue; in his heart, Miwako would always be the most beautiful.

Even Kōyū's eyes lit up. Miwako, who had changed her usual androgynous style, looked like a completely different person. She had also put on some makeup, and the fitted dress she was wearing perfectly showcased her figure, which she had worked out to achieve.

Uncle Mori saw Toshiro Odagiri standing in the crowd talking to someone, so he said something to the group, straightened his tie, walked over to Toshiro Odagiri, bowed very respectfully, and greeted him.

When Uncle Mori was still a detective, Toshiro Odagiri was the head of the Criminal Investigation Division, and now he has been promoted to the head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. His promotion speed is quite fast.

The time was almost up, the lights in the Phoenix Pavilion dimmed, and the spotlight shone on the host's position. The host straightened up slightly and said, "Distinguished guests, I apologize for keeping you waiting. Without further ado, let's welcome the bride and groom with a warm round of applause!"

As soon as the words were spoken, the sound of a saxophone rang out, and the spotlight turned to the bride and groom who were waiting on the side. Amid the applause of the guests, the bride, Shiratori Sara, walked slowly towards the groom, Harutsuki Kotaro, arm in arm.

"Shiratori's sister is quite pretty." Guangyou looked at the two dazzling newlyweds and didn't hide his envy. There was a time when he also wanted to walk down the aisle with a girl he liked, but things don't always go as planned.

No matter how somber the atmosphere had been before, the police officers now wore smiles of blessing and were generous with their applause and well wishes.

After the bride and groom finished speaking, the ceremony officially began. Uncle Mori poured himself a glass of wine, and just as he took a sip, Shiratori called his name.

After turning around, Uncle Mori first expressed his blessings to the newlyweds, and Shiratori also bowed slightly to thank Uncle Mori for his blessings.

Then Shiratori introduced Uncle Mori to a man standing next to him. The man's name was Kyosuke Kazato, and he was a psychologist at Beika Yakushino Hospital.

Although Uncle Mori was confused as to why Shiratori wanted to introduce him to a psychologist, he still politely introduced everyone.

"This is my wife Eri and my daughter Ran."

"This is Guangyou."

Finally, to Conan's delight, Uncle Mori introduced him: "This kid is Conan, who's been staying at my house doing nothing."

Conan glanced at Uncle Mori with dissatisfaction: "Do you really have to emphasize the words 'lodging' and 'eating for free'?"

"Officer Shiratori, are you seeing a psychologist?" Eri asked curiously.

Shiratori made no attempt to hide anything, stating frankly, "Yes, actually, management work involves many annoying things, and I had no choice in the matter."

After explaining, Shiratori looked around and, seeing that no one was eavesdropping, leaned close to Uncle Mori and whispered, "Mr. Mori, I think you'd better take some time to go and see for yourself."

“That’s true, my recent memories are always…” After a few seconds, Uncle Mori realized what Shiratori meant and turned around to shout, “Nonsense! What do you mean by that?”

Seeing this, Ran and Eri covered their mouths and chuckled quietly, but Conan wasn't used to it. When he realized he couldn't help himself, he burst out laughing. He had just been saying that Conan was a freeloader, and now it was Conan's turn to say that Uncle Mori had something wrong with him!

The intense pleasure made Conan, who was usually serious, laugh uncontrollably. Uncle Mori, who was in a bad mood, suddenly felt a surge of inexplicable anger when he saw Conan's unrestrained laughter.

"Thump!"

Suddenly, Conan's laughter stopped abruptly, and the sharp pain in his head made his eyes involuntarily well up with tears.

Uncle Mori glared at Conan with displeasure: "Kid! It's none of your business to laugh at me!"
