Chapter 18 The Karaoke Room Murder Case (Part 1)

Katsumi Yamada, who was standing nearby, stepped forward and said to Tatsuya, "Tatsuya, how can you say that? Mari is our band's manager, so it's only natural that he would say that!"

Tatsuya, looking impatient, slammed his glass on the table and said, "I want to ask you, as our drummer, have you done what you're supposed to do? And you, Mieko, what are you doing today? I've had enough of your amateurish guitar playing!"

Tatsuya was in the middle of his rant when the shop manager came in with some snacks. As he spoke, he placed the snacks on the table. Tatsuya, as if he had swallowed gunpowder, started cursing at everyone he saw, saying in a sarcastic tone, "Speaking of which, it's pathetic that a former band leader would open a shop that doesn't make any money."

Just then, a cheerful tune filled the air. Tatsuya picked up his cup, took a sip, and said, "This is the song I just requested. I said, Manager (pointing to Mari), this song is for you~"

Tatsuya glanced at Mari, whose face was already showing slight displeasure, and said, "This couldn't be more suitable for you, who still believes in Santa Claus even in middle school, right? Our beautiful and pretentious manager."

Mari frowned, but did not refuse, saying, "You don't need to say anything, I'll sing, are you satisfied now?"

The store manager, Sumii Go, curled his lip, said goodbye, and left the private room.

Although Mari sang very well, Conan was somewhat angry at Tatsuya's attitude and jumped off the sofa to run in front of Tatsuya.

Although Conan was angry, he also noticed that Tatsuya's appearance at this moment revealed a sense of nostalgia and sadness.

After Mari finished singing, Tatsuya, who hadn't heard a sound, looked up and saw Conan in front of him. He looked at Conan and said, "Little boy, why don't you sing a song too!"

Conan broke out in a cold sweat and waved his hand dismissively.

Seeing that no one wanted to sing, Mieko went on stage, picked up the microphone, and sang. As she sang, tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down her cheeks. Conan was puzzled by this, but Tatsuya, eating a sandwich, explained, "Because I'm leaving. I'm saying goodbye to Mieko and the band."

Sonoko was very excited upon hearing the news. She slammed her hands on the table and asked, "Does this mean that the Rex Band is going to disband?"

Tatsuya didn't show any other expression on his face. He nodded and said, "Yes, as soon as the tour is over, I'll be leaving the band. The whole band knows about it. Then I'll have to say goodbye to this lousy drummer, this childish guitarist, and this high and mighty manager."

By the end, Tatsuya was visibly agitated, and the room fell silent for a moment. As a song began to play, Tatsuya smiled and said, "This is my song. Who requested this one for me?"

As he spoke, he stood up, preparing to go on stage. Mari looked somewhat panicked and stopped him, saying, "Tatsuya, it's getting late. If you don't hurry, you'll miss the stand-up comedy show!"

Tatsuya turned around and yelled, "Stop nagging! When I want to sing, I have to sing!"

Immediately, Tatsuya walked to the microphone, took off his jacket, and began to sing his hit song, "Blood Red Venus".

The song ended quickly. To be honest, although Tatsuya didn't seem very nice from his attitude just now, he sang quite well. Sonoko and Ran gave him a round of applause.

Tatsuya greeted Katsumi, took the rice ball, and explained, "You don't need to worry about the disbandment. I will return to the stage as a solo artist. My new single is ready."

Sonoko and Ran were still wondering what the new single was called when Tatsuya's expression suddenly changed. He clutched his neck, made a painful sound, and collapsed to the ground.
