Takagi looked somewhat dejected as he left the coffee shop.
This is understandable, given that in this case, even though the perpetrator is right in front of us, all the clues are extremely confusing.
"Tell me the testimonies of all the witnesses."
"An old man said that the criminal who hit him was a woman wearing a blue dress."
"The high school girl just now said he was a man who was 1.8 meters tall and wearing green clothes."
"The coffee shop owner believed the perpetrator was a person who was 1.7 meters tall and dressed in black."
Guangyou nodded perfunctorily, "I understand."
"Kuangyou, do you have any ideas?"
Takagi recalled that this child could occasionally provide crucial clues, including in the case on the Shinkansen last time, where Kouyu's help was very important.
"The clues are scattered, but you can piece them together from the clues of these people."
"For example, in the clue about that high school girl, she said it was a man who was 1.8 meters tall. I would like to ask you, where did she see that man?"
Takagi flipped through the police handbook and replied, "She said it was in a crowd."
"If you want to walk through a crowd without disturbing others, how would you do it?"
"If it were me, I would definitely cross the road directly from the edge..."
As soon as Takagi finished speaking, he immediately understood: "You mean he walked along the edge, so his height should be reduced by the height of the edge."
Guangyou nodded.
"Then the prisoner must be under 1.8 meters tall."
Takagi immediately ruled out one of the suspects in his mind.
"Let's continue. If the police encounter a bottleneck in a case, what is one of the more effective methods?"
After pondering for a long time, Takagi tentatively asked, "Should we simulate a case based on the existing clues?"
"Should we go to a convenience store and perform this scene?"
Guangyou rubbed his forehead: "Have the coffee shop owner come out and walk to where he was standing."
Takagi nodded as if he understood, then turned and called the coffee shop owner out.
"Excuse me, officer, is there anything else you need?"
The boss looked somewhat bewildered.
"Excuse me, what's wrong with your glasses?"
Takagi was surprised to see that the glasses the boss was wearing changed color after he came out.
"Oh, this is actually a pair of non-prescription glasses. I started wearing them because they seem to be quite popular lately and I thought it would be interesting."
The boss scratched his head and explained.
"So that means the reason you saw that the person was wearing black clothes is because of those glasses."
"It should be, but I'm sure that person's height is around 1.7 meters."
"Thank you for your help. I'll contact you again if I need anything."
After sending the boss back to the coffee shop, Takagi stroked his chin and said, "If we piece together the clues from the two people, we'll find that the culprit is 1.7 meters tall and wearing green clothes, but the old man said it was a woman wearing blue clothes."
"How did that old man know the person was a woman? Didn't she say she was wearing a helmet and a jacket?"
Takagi pondered for a moment, then looked up and frowned: "Could it be from jewelry or something?"
Seeing that things had progressed to the point where it was time for Kōyū to prepare a bombshell for Takagi.
"Officer Takagi, come here, I have some very important news to tell you."
Leaning close to Takagi's ear, Kōsuke told him that Miwako was on a blind date with Shiratori.
As expected, Takagi dropped the police manual in his hand to the ground, his eyes wide open.
"Miwako made a bet with Officer Shiratori: if you don't pick her up at the Water Tower in Beika Town before sunset, she'll have to marry Shiratori. They say they'll even have to seal their love with a kiss at sunset."
Another thunderbolt struck.
"Don't worry, you should finish the case now and then go there. There's still plenty of time."
"No, Guangyou, do you know who the culprit is? If you do, could you tell me?"
Takagi couldn't wait any longer, but his sense of responsibility wouldn't allow him to abandon the case.
"It's up to you now. Do you want others to help you solve cases in the future, or do you want to grow on your own? The clues have been sorted out for you. Now it's up to you. Whether you can reach Miwako-neechan or not is also up to you."
Guangyou said earnestly.
That's his plan. How could he possibly tell him who the murderer was? Otherwise, what's the point of reasoning? He could just tell him directly.
However, relying solely on others' reasoning makes it difficult to break free from that constraint over time.
Solving cases requires thinking; if your thinking becomes rigid, then solving cases will become very difficult.
There are still several hours until sunset, a long time to go.
If he still can't figure it out, then Takagi should say goodbye to being a police officer.
After saying all that, Kōyū left Takagi behind.
He turned and left by himself.
After all this commotion, Guangyou didn't even get to eat.
He planned to find a small restaurant or something to solve his survival problem.
It was already past 2 p.m. when I came out of the restaurant.
When I passed by the place where Takagi had parked, his car was gone. It seems he had made progress and rushed off to take action.
There's not much fun to be having alone, so he decided to head straight back to the firm.
When he returned to the office, he suddenly realized that the sports car that had been parked there was gone.
