Chapter 30 Conan VS Phantom Thief Kid (Part 1)

"What? Phantom Thief 1412?" Ran looked at Sonoko in confusion.

"Yeah, that arrogant thief." Guangyou explained to Xiaolan, holding his head.

Sonoko, known as a fangirl in Detective Conan, was furious that someone spoke of her dream man like that. She looked at Kousuke and said, "Kousuke, don't think you can say whatever you want just because you're cute!"

Immediately, Sonoko said to Ran with a lovestruck expression, "Many girls like him. I heard he's a super charming thief who's already in his forties!"

If Sonoko said that Phantom Thief 1412, also known as Phantom Thief Kid, is a super handsome young man, perhaps Ran would be interested in seeing him. But an old man... hmm...

Xiao Lan squinted at the garden with her half-moon eyes: "Old man..."

Sonoko, who didn't even know who Kaito Kid was, looked at Ran with the eyes of someone looking at a rare animal: "Ran, really? You're the daughter of the great detective."

Ran said speechlessly, "Even if I'm the daughter of a great detective, I'm not interested in every case."

After saying that, Ran turned around and walked away first. Sonoko caught up with her, wanting to tell Ran about Kaito Kid.

Ran listened to the gist of what had happened and understood Sonoko's meaning: "Do you want my dad to catch Kaito Kid?"

Sonoko nodded: "That's right, the Beika Museum has a lot of famous gems from all over the world, and my dad is planning to exhibit our Dark Star there, which is why he asked your dad to help us protect this pearl!" (Also known as the Dark Star)

"But why don't you just call the police?"

Sonoko shook her head: "No way. If we call the police, my Phantom Thief Kid will be taken away by them. If your dad catches him, I can at least see my dream guy face to face!" (To save trouble, I'll basically use Phantom Thief Kid instead.)

Kōyū shook his head, looking at Sonoko with a mocking gaze, thinking: If you knew that Kaito Kid looks just like Shinichi, you wouldn't think that way. But Shinichi and Kaito may look quite alike, but the difference in their emotional intelligence is... tsk tsk tsk.

Just then, the green light turned on, and Ran pulled Sonoko across the street, with Kouyu following beside them. But a person on the other side caught Ran's attention. That person looked exactly like Shinichi, whom she had been longing to see day and night. However, he didn't notice that the girl next to that person also looked very much like Ran herself.

Xiaolan hurriedly tried to catch up with "Shinichi," but the green light gradually turned off and the red light came on. The car blocked Xiaolan's view, but it couldn't stop Xiaolan's longing.

Seeing this, Kōyū realized what was going on and said to Rin, "Rin-neechan, that's not Shinichi!"

Ran looked at Guangyou in confusion: "But, I clearly just now..."

Kōyū waved his hand: "Well, that person is called Kuroba Kaito, a second-year student in Class B at Ekoda High School. The girl next to him is Nakamori Aoko. By the way, Aoko-neechan and Ran-neechan look very, very alike! Oh, right, Kaito-nii's father was a very famous magician named Kuroba Toichi!"

After hearing this, Xiaolan looked at Guangyou and asked, "Guangyou, how did you know?"

Just as Guangyou was about to make up an excuse, Xiaolan said, "I hope that's the case."

In the evening, after returning to the agency, Conan heard that there was someone who looked a lot like him. After dinner, he pulled Mitsuyu aside and whispered in his ear, "Is what you said true?"

Seeing Kōyū nod, Conan couldn't help but exclaim, "The world is full of wonders!"

Looking at the curiosity on his face, Guangyou understood that he really wanted to see how similar they were, to the point that Xiaolan mistook one for the other.

Guangyou smiled and said, "Not only does he look a lot like you, but he also has a childhood friend who looks a lot like Xiaolan!"

He paused slightly at this point, then continued, "However, Kaito Kuroba's emotional intelligence is much, much, much higher than yours..."

Conan's crescent-shaped eyes reappeared on his face: "Hey, isn't this a bit exaggerated!"

Ran suddenly remembered something and pulled a letter from her pocket: "Oh, he also sent a very strange letter to Sonoko's house to tell them when they would appear! None of them could understand it; it was like a code."

Upon hearing the word "code," Conan stopped arguing with Kousuke and listened intently.

Uncle Mori took the letter, looked at the words on it and read them aloud: "April fool, when the moon separates the two of us, I will go to claim the name of the Dark Night Star, invited by the waves, and the Phantom Thief..." The rest of the words were illegible.

Xiaolan was also speechless, and explained, "When this letter was sent, Sonoko's father was furious and tore it up. Sonoko had to glue it back together later."

"I have no idea what this means, except that it initially indicated that it would appear on April Fool's Day."

Conan approached the notification letter, nodded, and ignored Uncle Mori's urging him to go to sleep. Looking at the code on it, a smile appeared on Conan's lips.

Guangyou couldn't help but shake his head: April 1st, April Fool's Day, why take it so seriously?

However, Kwangyu didn't want to say it out loud; otherwise, it would lose its meaning.

The following day, there were few visitors in front of the Beika Museum. The entire area around the museum was swarming with police, with searchlights and helicopters everywhere, as if all of Tokyo's police force had been gathered at the museum.

"Wow, that's quite a sight!" Uncle Mori exclaimed, looking at the busy police officers outside the window.

Seeing this display of power, Xiaolan had to admit, "He truly deserves to be called a world-class super thief!"
