"Don't move! Kidd! Surrender now!"
Kidd remained completely calm: "Oh, it's Inspector Nakamori, nice to meet you!"
For once, Nakamori Ginzo's intelligence was on full display. He deciphered the code, pointed his gun at Kid, and shouted, "Surrender! I've cracked your code. You knew we'd set up a trap here. We suspected you'd use a grappling hook to glide down from the sky. We've investigated everyone in the hotel and even had people guarding the entrance. But we never expected you to take such a roundabout route from Tokyo Tower to this place!"
A confident Nakamori Ginzo sneered, "Just give up on that black pearl! You have nowhere to run!"
Kidd chuckled: "The reason I've come here to visit you all is just to do a preliminary rehearsal, because I have no intention of stealing that black pearl!"
"What?!" Nakamori Ginzo exclaimed in disbelief.
"Oh dear, didn't you guys see the date on it? April 1st, April Fool's Day, of course it's fake!"
As he spoke, Kidd pressed a button, and his cloak instantly unfolded into a hang glider. As if it had been planned, Kidd calmly put on his protective gear, and flashbangs from his sleeves instantly slipped out, the intense flashes blinding everyone.
Kid said to Conan, "Little brother, let me tell you, if the phantom thief is a highly skilled and creative artist who steals treasures, then the detective is just a critic who only follows behind the phantom thief and nitpicks!"
The flash of light didn't last long. Once it ended, with a puff of smoke, Phantom Thief Kid disappeared as if he had never been there at all.
"Helicopter! Radar search, track him with radar immediately!" Nakamori Ginzo picked up the walkie-talkie and gave the order to the officers.
The helicopter pilot's answer angered Nakamori Ginzo. The pilot said, "But there's nothing else besides our four helicopters! We haven't spotted any objects in the air nearby!"
Conan couldn't understand why a living person would suddenly disappear!
At that moment, a handsome young man—no, a piece of paper—floated in front of Nakamori Ginzo.
When Nakamori Ginzo picked it up, he saw that it read: "On April 19th, the Sallybeth will set sail from Yokohama Port. I'm going to have that genuine Dark Star on board. Kaito Kid, here I come."
A deserted alley near the restaurant
As Kid took off his police uniform, he muttered to himself, "Heh heh, you think you can catch me, Phantom Thief Kid? Think again..."
"What are you thinking about?"
When the sound reached Kidd's ears, he abruptly stopped what he was doing, pulled out his poker gun from his pocket, and pointed it at the source of the sound.
From a dark corner of the alley, a figure came into Kidd's view.
This person is Kōyū. Kōyū followed Conan out when Conan left. Conan didn't notice at all, and Kōyū didn't call him either. He came here directly to wait for Kid.
"Since there's nothing in the air, it must be on the ground. The only explanation for your disappearance is that you disguised yourself as a police officer."
With his hands in his pockets, Kōyū looked at Kaito Kid in front of him and said, "Oh dear, I've found Kaito Kid!"
Kidd's face was eerily calm: "So, are you going to call the police to arrest me?"
Kōyū shook his head: "I'd rather not arrest you. There's no benefit in it. You can leave you to that arrogant brat. Oh, I mean, Conan."
Kidd secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He had sensed a sense of danger from the other person, even though the person in front of him was a child!
Suddenly remembering something, Kwang-yu took a beautifully wrapped box from his backpack and tossed it to Kid: "Here, a gift for you! Kid, remember to open it when you get home!"
After saying that, Guangyou left humming a little tune.
Kidd looked at Guangyou's retreating figure, then at the gift box in his hand. He felt a sense of unease, but he didn't dwell on it and quickly ran back home.
Once home, Kidd finally dropped his poker face and let out a huge sigh of relief: "Did I mess with a bunch of brats? The kid with glasses was alright, but the other one... damn it!"
"But that gift looks exquisite, let's open it and see!"
At that moment, a line of text on the gift box made him a little flustered. It said that the sender was none other than his real name—Kaito Kuroba!
Kaito, oh Kaito, it took him a while to come to his senses. He thought to himself: He actually knows my true identity. But thankfully, he doesn't seem to be interested in me. Otherwise, sigh.
Kaito held the gift box, hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and quickly opened it.
A scream comparable to that of a world-class tenor echoed throughout Kaito's house. Aoko, who was nearby, thought something had happened to Kaito and shouted across the house, "Kaito! What happened?"
Kaito looked a little uncomfortable, but still said, "No, it's nothing!"
Upon hearing this, Aoko turned and went back into the house. Kaito, who had just recovered from his shock, looked at the fish jumping around on the floor and clenched his fist tightly: Damn it!!! They even knew I was afraid of fish!
As soon as he opened the gift box, the fishy smell immediately hit Kaito's nose. He realized something was wrong, but it was too late. The fish inside was still alive. Because it was wrapped in cotton and Kaito was in a hurry to get home, he hadn't paid attention. As a result, the fish jumped right onto his face!
Kaito stared at the fish still hopping around on the ground, lost in thought: How am I supposed to get rid of this fish? I don't want to run into this kind of creature!
