The moment Takagi got out of the car, Miwako and the other two were stunned.
Even Kōsuke thought it looked too much like him at first glance. Apart from having darker skin and not being as muscular as Matsuda Jinpei, he was practically a carbon copy of him.
Putting that aside, this version of Takagi is much more attractive and has lost much of that honest, simple charm.
"Officer Takagi, even if you're disguised, we can still recognize you."
Ayumi and the other two, unaware of the details, simply smiled and praised Takagi's outfit, saying it was indeed quite nice.
Takagi scratched his head, a hint of shyness appearing on his dark face, and said, "I also think this outfit is pretty good, Officer Sato, what do you think?"
The person in front of her still stirred up a memory she least wanted to recall. She stretched out her right hand and slapped Takagi hard across the face.
But as soon as she moved her hand, she felt her right hand being held tightly, preventing her from slapping Takagi.
Miwako turned her head to look at Kōyū, her whole body trembling slightly. She took a deep breath, realizing that her behavior was somewhat problematic.
So she said nothing, turned around, put on the wig, and walked away into the distance.
"Officer Takagi, your outfit is indeed quite nice, but you should take these off first."
After saying something to Takagi, Kōyū ran in the direction Miwako had gone.
Takagi stood there, stunned, and touched his face. He saw Miwako's gesture as if to slap him, but he was still unaware of it. A sense of grievance welled up in his heart.
Takagi looked down at the ground and asked softly, "Did I do something wrong?"
...
Miwako was just walking, and Mitsuyu quickly caught up with her.
She looked somewhat downcast and kept her head down as she walked, completely unaware that she was about to bump into someone in front of her.
After being reminded by Kwangyu, she finally realized what was happening, looked at Kwangyu beside her, and asked dejectedly, "Kwangyu? What brings you here?"
I came to see you.
Guangyou's idea was actually quite simple: as someone who knew the whole story, he could also be a better person to confide in.
Miwako shook her head and sighed, "You wouldn't understand."
"Isn't that Matsuda Jinpei from three years ago?"
Guangyou didn't try to hide it and told him straight out.
Miwako looked Kōyū up and down, then asked suspiciously, "You know? How old were you back then? And..."
Before she could finish speaking, Guangyou interrupted her, saying, "It shouldn't be hard to find out about a case from three years ago."
“The deceased is gone. Takagi was unaware of this. Matsuda is Matsuda, and Takagi is Takagi. That would be unfair to Takagi.”
Miwako fell into deep thought after hearing Kōyū's words, and in the blink of an eye, she understood what he meant.
Miwako nodded and said with self-reproach, "It's my fault. I want to forget it, but every year around this time, I think of that incident."
Guangyou waved his hand and smiled, "Why forget it? Since it's so meaningful, just remember it. Just don't dwell on the past, and cherish the people in front of you."
Seeing that Miwako seemed to want to say something, Kōyū said, "Even if you ask Takagi, Takagi won't let you forget."
Miwako was also somewhat intrigued. She looked at Kōyū and asked doubtfully, "Really?"
"boom!"
Just as Guangyou was about to respond, a violent explosion suddenly came from afar.
The explosion made everyone nearby turn to look at the spot, and passersby and onlookers who were nearby all ran away in a panic.
The explosion affected an unfortunate passerby who was walking by the car; the shockwave sent him crashing into a shop window on the street.
Seeing the location of the car and the color of the wreckage, Miwako felt that breathing had become a luxury.
She reached out and took off her wig, then ran straight to the car. Guangyou clearly saw tears glistening in the corners of her eyes.
Kōyū followed and stood next to Ai.
Ai's eyes reflected the raging fire as she said, "The fax I received doesn't seem to be a prank."
"Takagi isn't going to die that easily."
Guangyou stood with his hands in his pockets, watching the explosion from afar.
Miwako was frantically searching through the wreckage, even though the car wreckage was scalding hot from the flames, she seemed completely oblivious to the heat.
After telling Ai, Kōyū walked over to Miwako, tugged at her sleeve, and said, "Miwako-neechan, Officer Takagi is alright."
Miwako turned her head and looked in the direction of Kōyū's hand. She saw Takagi's disheveled appearance, covered in dust. He was lying by the mailbox on the side of the road, panting, while talking to Ayumi and the others on the other side.
Seeing that Takagi was alright, Miwako breathed a sigh of relief. Takagi, who was over there, also saw Miwako and, remembering what had just happened, quickly ran over.
"Miwako, are you alright?"
In his haste, Takagi's way of addressing Miwako underwent some subtle changes.
Takagi caught a glimpse of Miwako's scalded hand out of the corner of his eye, and quickly took her hand. Seeing that blisters had already appeared on it, he couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
Takagi quickly said, "I'll take you to get bandaged up."
Miwako pulled her hand away from Takagi's, smiled at him, and said, "No need, I can go by myself. You guys take care of things here."
After saying that, she turned and left.
