Chapter 389 What a pity, they almost kissed.

"Um, did I interrupt your good time?"

Mingmei held a water glass in one hand and covered her mouth with the other, her eyes wide with surprise.

She was genuinely quite surprised; she hadn't expected this situation at all. She had been engrossed in the music and hadn't noticed that her water glass was empty. She had just come out to get a glass of water when she came out and saw this.

Ai's face instantly turned bright red with embarrassment. She quickly distanced herself from Kousuke and turned her head away from him.

Kōyū pursed his lips, tilted his head, and looked at Akemi, his expression clearly stating his opinion—"What do you think?"

He felt awkward, regretful, and a little angry, but he couldn't bring himself to be angry at Mingmei.

"You guys continue, don't worry about me."

Akemi stopped worrying about the water glass, left those words, and turned to go back to her room.

Just when Mitsu thought Akemi had returned to her room, she poked her head out again and called out to Ai, "Shiho, remember not to cause any deaths. I'm going to sleep now."

She realized something was wrong as soon as she finished speaking, blinked, and muttered to herself, "It seems impossible for me to kill someone at my age."

Ai's face turned even redder, and she leaned closer to one side of the sofa.

Kōyū looked at Akemi helplessly. Even he was stunned by what Akemi had just said. She really was a woman who would never be outrageous.

"Um, can we continue?"

Clinging to the slightest possibility, Kousuke tentatively approached Ai and sat down, only to have a cushion fly right onto his face.

"As expected, a minor issue."

Kōyū rubbed his nose, looked at Ai's still-rosy complexion, scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly, and gave an awkward smile.

After all, he was the one who started it all, which he admits. But it was just an accident; nobody wanted it to happen.

The atmosphere between the two became somewhat awkward because of this incident.

After a long pause, Guangyou spoke first.

"Well, you should go to sleep early."

After thinking for a long time, Guangyou could only come up with this one sentence to break the current awkward situation.

The blush on Ai's face had faded considerably, and she shook her head: "I want to talk to you."

Kōyū frowned, somewhat unsure what Ai wanted to talk to him about, and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"

Ai Haibara pointed a slender, long finger at Kyouya and said, "Talk about you."

Guangyou stared wide-eyed, pointing at himself, and asked in confusion, "Me?"

Ai's expression was serious, and she didn't seem to be joking.

Guangyou was completely confused. Apart from those things, he really had nothing to hide. But he had already said everything, so there shouldn't be anything else to talk about.

"Wait."

After saying something mysterious to Mitsuyu, Ai got up and walked towards Akemi's room.

Not long after, the sound of two people talking could be heard coming from the room, and then Ai came out with a notebook in her hand.

Ai reached out and handed the notebook to Kousuke, then sat down next to him and explained, "All the questions I want to ask you are in here. You can answer them or skip them, but I don't want you to lie to me."

"I definitely wouldn't lie to you."

Kōyū nodded, and just as he was about to open his notebook, he thought of a question, so he stopped what he was doing and said to Ai, "That's not fair. After I answer your question, you have to answer mine too."

Without a second thought, Ai readily agreed, "No problem."

After receiving Ai's response, Kousuke opened his notebook.

The handwriting in the notebook was exceptionally neat, and the occasional English words were also written in a free and elegant style.

After quickly glancing at the first line, Kōyū was slightly surprised. He turned his head to show Ai the contents of the notebook and asked, "Is this your diary?"

After glancing at it, Ai realized that she used this notebook to write down unrelated diary entries. She quickly took the notebook, flipped through a dozen pages, and then handed it back to Kōyū: "You probably didn't see the beginning, did you?"

"I didn't see it."

Guangyou pretended not to know, but he only saw a little bit, so it shouldn't count as lying, right...?

Looking at the questions above, Guangyou's expression changed rapidly: worry, doubt, helplessness, anticipation, joy...

Guangyou could answer every single question above; it was just a matter of whether he wanted to or not.

Kōyū put away his pen and handed the notebook to Aya.

The notebook was still empty. Ai looked a little disappointed and said softly, "You don't want to answer?"

Guangyou reached out and ruffled her hair, smiling as he explained, "No, I just feel that it's better to say it aloud than to write it down."

"I'm just afraid you won't be able to say it out loud, so writing it down on paper will reduce the pressure."

Guangyou heard this and was somewhat touched; she had considered his feelings after all.

Ai took out her pen, pointed to the question on it, and looked up: "Then I'll start asking."

After receiving a positive answer from Guangyou, she took a breath and asked, "What do you think the future will be like?"

Guangyou shook his finger, looking mysterious: "I won't tell you, it's a secret. I can only tell you it's a surprise."

Ai nodded, didn't ask any more questions, and moved on to the next one.

"Could you explain again why you asked me those questions before?"

If we really have to figure this out, Kōyū has already explained it three or four times. Although we don't know what Ai is thinking, repeating it again wouldn't be difficult.

He explained it again using the same words as before, this time Ai was just listening from the side, so Kousuke was able to explain in more detail.
