Chapter 398 The Custom Ring Project [Finally, I can comment!]

There weren't many people in the library; most of them were middle-aged or elderly people wearing reading glasses and sitting there reading.

There were very few children; they were all outside playing with their friends, so they didn't have time to come in and read.

Without children, the library was much quieter; the only sounds were the turning of pages.

Conan browsed the mystery novel shelf for new books, while Mitsuyoshi stood by the general bookshelf looking for the book he wanted.

"Found it."

After scanning two rows of bookshelves, Guangyou finally found a few books he needed in a corner.

Conan, on the other hand, looked around but didn't find anything. He walked over to Kouyu and realized that Kouyu wanted books about jewelry design.

Conan, puzzled as to why Kōsuke wanted these things, asked, "Are you going to switch careers and sell jewelry?"

"No, it's just something to expand my knowledge."

Guangyou gave a vague answer and managed to get away with it.

He found a quiet corner in the library and sat down to browse through the books.

Seeing that Kōyū had no intention of leaving, Conan picked out a book that interested him from the bookshelf and sat down opposite Kōyū to read it.

Guangyou was reading very attentively. Unlike his usual cursory reading of novels, this time he was reading carefully, sometimes turning a page, sometimes looking up in deep thought...

...

Half an hour passed, and Conan suddenly snapped out of his reading daze. Looking at Kouyu across from him, who was still looking up, he sensed something was amiss, so he tentatively reached out his hand...

"Hey, wake up."

Conan revealed his crescent-shaped eyes, filled with helplessness. He glanced at the page number "14" printed at the bottom of the book and let out a long sigh.

Guangyou remained motionless, still looking up and meditating with his eyes closed.

To this, Conan simply said, "Haibara came looking for you."

Guangyou opened his eyes almost instantly and looked around: "Where am I?"

But it would be a miracle if Kuang-Yu could see it. Realizing this, he rubbed the corner of his eye and stretched.

If Guangyou hadn't realized he was in the library, he would have definitely let out a unique, strange cry of comfort as he stretched.

Conan glanced at the book on the table, then at Kōyū, and asked, "How much have you read?"

Guangyou patted his mouth and said, "Just a little bit."

He eventually realized that he wasn't suited to reading such highly specialized books; he would fall asleep while reading them anyway, which was more effective than math class, where he at least didn't dare to fall asleep.

After all, with math, if you fall behind even a little, you basically won't understand anything later on.

Conan then asked, "So, what useful conclusions have you drawn?"

Guangyou nodded and said seriously, "Yes, but I'm not suited to reading highly technical books; they're too soporific."

Conan leaned to the side, twitched his lips, and said rather speechlessly, "I've read most of the book, and this is all you've come up with?"

Guangyou shook his head and explained, "No, it's mainly about learning some basics. There's no need to know so much else."

He wasn't planning to design jewelry to sell, so reading too much about design concepts and styles was of little help to him.

Is it difficult to design a piece of jewelry?

The answer is not difficult.

If you're only designing one piece of jewelry, it's certainly not difficult as long as you have a reasonable idea.

As for the jewelry designers, that's none of Guangyou's business. Those jewelry designers are responsible for designing jewelry that meets the customized requirements of their clients.

While meeting the client's requirements, it is essential to achieve uniqueness; otherwise, the meaning of customization is lost.

Why customize?

Besides expressing one's feelings, isn't it all about making the things you customize unique?

Guangyou wants to order two rings. The design is already in his mind, and he can draw it out when he gets back today.

He only came to learn some basic knowledge about jewelry materials, so as not to make a fool of himself later.

"Let's go."

Kwang-yu stood up, tucked the book under his arm, and prepared to put it back on the shelf before heading back to his office.

He couldn't wait to put his ideas into practice on paper first.

...

Uncle Mori went out to run errands, while Ran and Sonoko went to school to study for their upcoming exams.

Only Kousuke and Conan remained in the office. As soon as they returned, Kousuke went straight to his room.

Guangyou held a pencil in his hand, scribbling and revising in his notebook, his attention highly focused. Compared to reading, he felt that drawing directly in the notebook suited him better.

He wants to do it himself, so there's no need to be too serious about the design drawings. As long as he can understand them and the parameters are correct without any major errors, that's fine.

He spent several hours drawing, and while he was drawing, he would try to make some improvements. He scrapped three or four design drafts in total, and it wasn't until four or five o'clock in the evening that he was temporarily satisfied.

This is a long-term plan that can't be completed in a short time, so he's only temporarily satisfied. If there are any improvements later, he'll scrap it and redesign it.

After sitting all afternoon without eating lunch, Guangyou's stomach started to protest.

Pushing open the door to the second-floor office, Kōyū saw Conan sitting on the sofa watching TV and asked, "Aren't they back yet?"

Conan nodded and explained, "Ran just called and said she won't be home for dinner tonight, and Uncle is probably in the same boat, so we'll have to eat downstairs by ourselves tonight."
