Chapter 411 Waiting for Trouble to Come Knocking

At Professor Agasa's house, Ai Haibara had just woken up from her sleep. She hadn't slept comfortably on the sofa last night, and as if she had thought of something, a blush suddenly appeared on her face.

She murmured, "I slept very well that time."

After washing up, she prepared a simple and convenient breakfast for herself: a few slices of toast and a glass of milk.

After finishing breakfast, Ai walked to the sofa with a glass of milk in her hand and sat down, turning on the TV at the same time.

The television is broadcasting news about the Tokyo Tower explosion.

"Just now, an explosion occurred at the top of Tokyo Tower. According to reliable sources, a little girl is trapped in the elevator, and the police have dispatched personnel to the scene for rescue."

At that moment, someone leaned close to the reporter and whispered something. The reporter looked surprised, then turned around and said, "For various reasons, it seems that a little boy is now involved in the elevator rescue. Let's pray for this brave little boy..."

Seeing this, Ai took a sip of milk and said expressionlessly, "I guess that little boy is Kudo."

"Speaking of which, where is he?" Ai suddenly asked, puzzled. "Knowing his personality, he'd probably go over and join in the fun."

She reached for her phone, typed a text message for Guangyou, hesitated for a moment, and then sent it.

...

"Hmm? A text message from Ai?"

Guangyou looked at the text message and was both amused and exasperated. Since he was lying down, it was difficult to send a text message, so he simply dialed the number directly.

The call connected quickly, but there was no sound.

Guangyou, unfazed, put the phone to his ear and asked, "Awake?"

"Hmm." Ai's calm voice came through the microphone: "Where are you now?"

Guangyou chuckled and explained, "I'm just waiting for trouble to come knocking on my door."

"Waiting for trouble?" Ai on the other end was a little puzzled, but she didn't dwell on it and said, "Okay, then I'll hang up first. Send me a message when you're done, and I'll go do my research too."

"Okay, be careful not to overwork yourself."

"Okay, bye-bye."

After hanging up the phone, Guangyou plugged in his earphones, put the earbuds in his ears, bent down and continued to stare at the man mixed in with the crowd, a smirk playing on his lips. "Once you leave the crowd, I'll make you my dead man."

...

The explosion caused the elevator to plummet, trapping Conan inside.

Besides Conan, Takagi, who jumped in out of concern, was also in the elevator.

"Officer Takagi, I think there might still be a bomb here."

Conan looked around, then looked up at the top of the elevator and said, "Can I sit on your shoulders? I'm not tall enough."

"OK."

Takagi nodded, put Conan on his shoulders, and then took out his phone to call Miwako.

The moment the call connected, Miwako's slightly angry voice sent a chill down Takagi's spine.

"Takagi Wataru, you've got some nerve, daring to hang up on me?"

Takagi coughed lightly, feeling uneasy, but suddenly an idea struck her, and she changed the subject, saying, "Officer Sato, just now..."

After he told Miwako everything, she couldn't help but tease him, "So, the result of your heroic act is that you and Conan are both trapped in the elevator?"

"I'm sorry." Takagi quickly apologized, then got to the point, saying, "I suspect the perpetrators planted a bomb in the elevator, but they haven't found it inside. We're checking the top now."

Meanwhile, Conan climbed to the top of the elevator. When he saw what was on top, his pupils contracted sharply, and he gritted his teeth: "Damn it."

Unaware of the situation, Takagi said into the phone, "The cables are all broken now. I think we can only wait to climb to the top of the elevator and wait for the rescuers to arrive."

"No!" Conan, lying on top of the elevator, looked tense. Hearing Takagi's words, he quickly shouted, "You can't come up! The mercury column has already been activated!"

The four words, like a nightmare, reached Miwako's ears over the phone. In a daze, she recalled the events of that year, but compared to before, the emotional turmoil was much less.

After thinking for a moment, Takagi suggested a solution: "Why don't we have the rescuers drop the rope down, and then we can walk over?"

“No, there’s a listening device next to the bomb. If we leave, they might just detonate it.” Conan said to Takagi in a deep voice. “Have the bomb disposal team give me the bomb disposal tools with a rope, and then teach me how to disarm the bomb on the spot. That’s the best way right now.”

Takagi wanted to say something more: "But..."

There is no other way.

Conan took a deep breath, his eyes gradually hardening. He had come here of his own accord, and he had no regrets.

It's just that there are still people I can't let go of...

Thinking of this, he sighed and murmured, "If I can't get out, I'll confess my feelings to Xiaolan."

...

Guangyou twitched the corner of his mouth: "It's quite something for a person to be so brave before they die."

He modified the bugging device slightly, adding a listening source, so he can now hear the conversation from the other side of the elevator even from here.

Conan's mutterings reached Kouyu's ears without fail. He was both annoyed and secretly pleased; after all, Conan had been recording...

"Hey Conan, here's another piece of dirt on you~"

...

"Fireworks display, huh? Hehehe, what would you choose: your own life or the lives of twelve million people?"

The man mingling in the crowd had a fierce glint in his eyes, a malicious grin spreading across his face. "I've avenged you... I've avenged you..."
