Chapter 42 Ayumi and Ai's Secret Talk

Mamiya Mitsuru noticed that the number of people seemed off: "Hey, where's that little kid with glasses?"

Professor Agasa said with some concern, "We haven't been able to find him since just now. I'm going to look for him again carefully after I finish eating."

The nobleman remained unchanged, smiling as he said, "This castle actually has quite a few mechanisms; I think he must have gotten lost somewhere."

Mamiya Mitsuru stroked his chin: "I hope he doesn't run to that stone tower next door."

"A stone tower?" Professor Agasa asked.

Mamiya Mitsuru said, "It's that stone tower that burned down four years ago. My wife died in that stone tower."

When Mamiya Mitsuru mentioned the stone tower, he seemed to recall something: "I remember two years ago, one of our newly hired servants suddenly disappeared one night. Later, we learned that he had told a servant he was on good terms with that there must be something strange in that tower, so I went in to look for him. Although there were signs that someone had gone in, I just couldn't find him."

After a slight pause, Mitsuru Mamiya continued, "Later, we called the police to search the nearby forest, and nine days later we found his body in the woods. He had starved to death."

Upon hearing that someone had died, everyone except Ai and Kouyu seemed a little uneasy. Professor Agasa asked, "How could this happen?"

Mamiya Mitsuru shook his head: "I don't know. The police later treated it as an accident that he wandered into the forest. During that time, the servants were talking about how my wife's ghost was haunting them, so we sealed off the entrance to that tower."

Hearing this, Ayumi's eyes welled up with large tears: "Then, if we don't find Conan soon, he'll starve to death because he has nothing to eat!"

Mitsuhiko and Genta, who were standing nearby, each stuffed their own bread into a bag to leave for Conan.

Since that's the case, the nobleman stood up and suggested, "Then let's split up and search! Otherwise, it'll get darker and darker!"

Everyone else was moving, but Kōyū and Ai remained still. Ai poured herself a cup of coffee and was about to drink it when Kōyū snatched the cup away. Seeing Ai's surprised look, Kōyū said, "Drinking too much coffee is bad!"

As he spoke, Guangyou poured a glass of juice and handed it to him: "Drink this!"

Ai paused for a moment, then took the juice without expression and drank it in small sips.

Although she had no expression, Ai suddenly felt something she had never felt before.

This feeling is very warm.

The rain intensified, and the group, having found nothing, decided to call the police to search the area the next day.

The professor was looking for a phone to call the police and ask them to come tomorrow, but something suddenly flew out from around the corner. When the professor got closer, his pupils contracted slightly. The thing was Conan's hat, and it was covered in blood!

At that moment, the wall at the corner flipped over, revealing a space large enough for one person to pass through.

Dr. Agasa had no suspicions and went inside.

Suddenly, Professor Agasa groaned and collapsed to the ground. Behind him, a hideous face could be vaguely seen.

That night, the entire detective team went to sleep.

Aside from Ayumi, who was looking at the drizzling rain outside the window, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably: "Conan..."

"Don't worry, even if that guy is trapped, he'll find a way out."

Ayumi turned around and saw that it was Ai who said, "Haibara-kun, how do you know so much about Conan?"

Ayumi hesitated for a moment, but still said, "You don't like Conan, do you?"

Xiao Ai smiled and said, "So what if it is?"

Ayumi panicked upon hearing this: "No, you can't!"

Ai looked at Ayumi's tear-streaked face and chuckled softly, "Don't worry, I don't like that Edogawa guy."

Ai turned around and looked at Kouyu, who was sleeping soundly in bed: "There are plenty of people better than Edogawa."

The voice was very soft, but it was very clear in the confined space.

Kōyū seemed to hear him, and smiled slightly: "Hehe..."

After hearing the answer, Ayumi nodded and smiled.

Ai said to Ayumi, who was wiping away her tears, "I'm going to find Conan. Do you want to come with me?"

Ayumi nodded excitedly.

The two then walked out of the room, but they didn't notice that in the dark room, a pair of eyes as bright as the stars were watching them.

The two girls were walking toward the room where Conan had disappeared during the day when suddenly, a figure appeared in front of them.

The figure quickly covered their mouths, and in the moonlight, the two little girls saw the owner of the figure.

It was clearly Kwangyu who was sleeping in bed just a moment ago.

Ayumi clutched her chest and said, "Kuangyou, you scared me!"

Guangyou's expression was very serious: "Shh, keep your voice down."

As he spoke, Guangyou pointed to the corner of the corridor.

Ai peeked out, her pupils contracted slightly, and she turned back: "It's that First Madam!"

Ai pointed to her leg, and Kōyū, understanding her meaning, nodded: "I guess Conan was... because of her..."

Ayumi panicked slightly: "She didn't kill Conan, did she?!"

Kōyū shook his head: "Probably not, let's go find Professor Agasa first!"

Just as Kōyū was about to leave, Ai stopped him: "I looked for him just now, and Professor Agasa is also missing."

Ayumi was still young, and tears welled up in her eyes: "The Doctor won't be... *sob*."

Guangyou made a few gestures: "I've done some calculations, and I'm sure they won't die. At most, they'll just be knocked unconscious!"
