"I haven't heard from him all day, and his phone is off. I have no idea what he's doing."
The faint light from the computer screen illuminated Ai's slightly flushed cheeks.
Uninterested in the research, she didn't force herself to continue. She stood up from her chair, took off her white coat, and hung it on a hanger nearby.
After thinking for a moment, Ai took out her phone and made a call to Conan.
As soon as the call connected, she asked impatiently, "Kudo, is Mitsuyu next to you?"
"He's not here."
Conan's puzzled voice came through the microphone, "Don't you know where he is? I didn't see him all day yesterday. I thought he went to your place."
"He has never come to my place."
Ai's lips were pressed into a thin line, and her eyebrows were slightly furrowed. Even she herself didn't notice that her tone unconsciously carried a hint of worry, "Do you think something might have happened to him?"
"You're overthinking it. When I called him yesterday, he was saying he was going out on a mission. He was even joking with me back then."
Conan paused for a moment, then asked, "By the way, why don't you just call him?"
“I called him before, but his phone was off.”
Ai calmed herself down a bit, recalled Conan's mention of the word "mission," and asked, "Do you know what mission he was talking about?"
Conan pursed his lips and said, "He only said the mission was about you, and then I didn't ask any more questions."
"I?"
Hearing Ai's questioning tone, Conan quickly distanced himself from the matter, saying, "Don't ask me about this. I know nothing about you two and don't want to know."
Xiao Ai blushed instantly and quickly said, "Who said we're a couple? I just happened to need to talk to him."
"Ah, women."
Conan twitched the corner of his mouth, held the microphone a little further away from his mouth, and muttered, "You've kissed so many times and you still say it's not true? Ran and I have never done it. I've eaten your dog food so many times. Women are just hypocritical."
"What did you say?!"
Ai couldn't help but think of those scenes. Although she appeared to be in a dark state, she couldn't help but feel a pang of shyness inside.
“I didn’t say anything, and you didn’t hear anything.”
Conan didn't want to get involved in their affairs any further, especially since he didn't even know where Mitsuyu was.
So he quickly said, "I really don't have any news about Guangyou. And don't worry, as long as he doesn't cause trouble for others, how could anything happen to him?"
After saying that, Conan hung up the phone without hesitation.
After hanging up the phone, Conan pouted and muttered, "It's clearly the truth, but they won't let others say it. Tsk, women..."
...
Xiao Ai put away her phone, the blush on her face just fading, and muttered to herself, "They're not even old enough yet, what 'little couple'? Really..."
"Go pour me a glass of milk. I want to see how long he's going to disappear."
After saying that, Ai pushed open the basement door and went up the stairs.
She had just poured herself a glass of milk when the phone rang.
She had intended to take a sip of milk, but upon seeing the caller ID, she immediately placed her cup on the bar, answered the phone, and asked with a smile, "Sister, is something the matter?"
"Can't you come to our Shiho for no reason?"
Akemi was in a great mood and teased, "Shiho has really grown up. Now that she has a boyfriend, she's forgotten about her sister. It breaks my heart."
The blush that had just faded returned to Ai's cheeks, and her voice gradually rose as she asked, "Who's his girlfriend!?"
Facing Mingmei, her tone became even more feminine, "Besides being nice to me, being good-looking, and having decent cooking skills... he doesn't have any particularly outstanding qualities. Who would be interested in him?"
Faced with such blatant arrogance, Akemi shook her head helplessly. Of course, Akemi's helplessness at this moment was something she was happy to see.
Mingmei teased with a mischievous smile, "Oh, in that case, I'll introduce him to the other girls. Many of my former classmates are still single, and quite a few of them are good-looking."
"no!"
Like a cat whose tail has been stepped on, Ai didn't even think before blurting out those two words after hearing Akemi's words. Her quick reaction made Akemi laugh out loud.
Ai forced herself to explain, "What I mean is that he knows about the organization, which could potentially affect other people. Besides, your classmates are much older than him, so it's not appropriate."
Not to mention Mei, even Ai herself felt that no one would believe such a ridiculous reason after she said that, and the part after that sounded like she was jealous.
Akemi's soft laughter came from the phone: "Hehe~"
Ai became even more embarrassed after being laughed at like that.
"Okay, I'm not kidding you anymore."
Mingmei's smile faded, and she asked seriously, "Are you coming to my place for lunch today?"
Ai naturally wouldn't refuse her sister's invitation, especially since they hadn't seen each other for a while.
Without much thought, she nodded and replied decisively, "Okay, shall I go now?"
"Okay, then I'll wait for you at my apartment."
After saying this, Akemi was about to hang up when Ai hesitated for a moment and then suddenly asked, "Sister, have you seen Kousuke? I haven't heard from him all day. I called him this morning and found that his phone was off."
