"You've had a long day, take a break."
Akemi couldn't stand it anymore and said to Mitsuyu, "Shiho and I are going out to buy groceries later. You can go to my room and rest for a while."
"It's nothing. I just took a nap in the bathtub and I've fully recovered."
Guangyou waved his hand, a smile always on his face, and said, "This is like celebrating Girls' Day early. Today, you girls are the most important, so I'll cook a festive meal for you to celebrate."
"Listen to your sister, go and rest."
Ai got up and walked over to Kōyū, saying softly, "You didn't rest yesterday, so go and rest for a while. When you wake up, it will be time to eat."
She had fully appreciated the boy's feelings, but that didn't make her agree to Guangyou's request to cook lunch again.
Similarly, Kōyū understood the girl's feelings, but he genuinely didn't want the two sisters to spend their time cooking.
Kōyū reached out and gently ruffled her hair, leaned closer to Ai, looked into her eyes, smiled, and said softly, "You're really not tired. I'll cook today, so just enjoy it, okay?"
The boy before her still held a lingering languor in his gentle eyes. He had just finished showering, and his body exuded a faint, refreshing lemon scent. Coupled with his smile and soft, gentle tone, Ai momentarily forgot what she was going to say, and simply nodded blankly, "Mmm..."
"good."
Kōyū ruffled Ai's hair and asked with a smile, "What do you want to eat for lunch?"
"Um?"
When asked by Kōyū, Ai quickly snapped out of her daze, realized what she had just done, blushed, and casually replied, "Anything is fine."
After saying that, she turned around and went back to the sofa, sat down, and turned to look at the blue sky outside the window.
Guangyou smiled, looked up at Mingmei, and asked, "Mingmei-neechan, is there anything you'd like to eat for lunch?"
Mingmei shook her head, smiled at him, and replied, "Do whatever you like, I'm not picky."
"Okay, then I'll go buy groceries first."
After saying that, Guangyou turned around and walked out of the apartment to prepare the ingredients for lunch.
...
The moment Kōyū left, Ai turned back to look at the apartment door and sighed.
"Shiho, were you just swooning over a girl?"
With Kousuke gone, Akemi felt more at ease. Looking at Ai's regretful expression at not rejecting Kousuke, she teased, "I never thought that you, Shiho, would be so infatuated with such ordinary words for a few seconds."
"No, I just saw how serious he was and I was too lazy to refuse."
Ai's slightly flushed face wasn't as noticeable in the sunlight, but her haughty tone couldn't be hidden by the sun.
Akemi was too lazy to expose the girl's little scheme. Since Ai had already agreed, she couldn't very well continue to go against Mitsuyu's good intentions.
Although I don't want him to keep busy, what can I do when Ai is so disappointing?
Clearly, Ai herself knew this, and at this moment she was secretly criticizing herself for being too unreserved.
"Let's help him out when he gets back."
Ai is quick-witted. Since things have come to this, there's nothing she can do. She'll try her best to help lighten the burden later.
Seeing Ai's relaxed brows, Akemi knew what she was thinking and said, "I guess you're thinking about helping later, right?"
Remembering what Kōyū had just said, she said to Ai, "But your idea might not come true. He probably won't let you help him, since he said you should enjoy yourself."
"Um…"
Ai realized this after being reminded of it, and her mood became somewhat downcast.
"It's okay, just listen to him and enjoy yourself today."
Akemi patted Ai's back and comforted her, "Kuyou is doing all this for you. Don't think too much about it. If you're happy, he'll be satisfied."
"Um..."
Now, this is the only reason Ai can use to comfort herself.
Of course, even though she said that, she still felt somewhat uncomfortable inside.
She hadn't done anything in the past day or two; Guangyou had been the one running around taking care of everything, and she felt a little guilty about it.
Seeing Ai's conflicted expression, Akemi could roughly guess what she was thinking.
"Relax, you need to know that you two don't need to worry about this in your relationship."
Mingmei, having been through similar experiences herself, said, "If you really feel bad, just be nicer to him in the future." Although her relationship wasn't exactly successful, she had gained some insights.
"After all, he's not doing this so that you'll do anything for him."
Akemi knew that Kōyū's purpose in doing all this was very simple: to make Ai happier. He never thought about getting anything in return.
This is also one of the things she greatly admires about Kōyū.
"I know."
Ai naturally understands this, but she's not yet used to this way of getting along.
Guangyou has always been very good to her, and he never asks for anything in return for what he does for her.
"Perhaps, what he needs in return is simply that I..."
Ai tried to put herself in Kousuke's shoes to see the problem from his perspective, but she didn't say what she came to.
Perhaps it was out of shyness, or perhaps there were other reasons; no one but herself knew the answer.
"It's good that you know. When Guangyou comes back later, don't worry about this and that like you do now. Just smile more, and he'll be very happy."
