"Keep looking? Or I'll take you back and make soup with you!"
Upon hearing this, the two people in the monitoring room were stunned. They had thought he was thick-skinned, but it turned out he was genuinely unafraid.
This haunted house is a specially made specimen; they even modified the upper body of the toad.
Even some of the girls working in haunted houses wouldn't want to touch such a disgusting scene, yet this kid said he wanted to take it home and eat it?
Do I need to make soup too?
Is this even a human being?
The two Japanese guys couldn't understand it; this thing was so disgusting, how could anyone eat it?
"Is it because we're out of touch with the times that we're doing this?"
One of the men glanced at Guangyou on the screen again and suddenly felt a sense of exhaustion.
"Perhaps."
The staff member called "Spring Field" leaned back in his chair and nodded weakly.
Their only source of enjoyment at work, besides bragging and joking, was watching the customers' terrified expressions.
Then a "werewolf" showed up, and instead of being disgusted, the person actually wanted to eat him.
…
"You're disgusting."
Even Ai couldn't stand it anymore. She rolled her eyes at Kousuke, let go of his hand, and started wandering around the room on her own.
"This thing seems to be able to move."
Guangyou stared at the toad, but he just wanted to see if the toad's eyes could actually move.
As the saying goes, perseverance pays off. When the staring contest between Guangyou and the toad reached its climax, the toad, unable to withstand the pressure of Guangyou's gaze, quietly turned around and changed direction.
"Hey, this thing is pretty fun."
A wicked idea popped into Guangyou's mind. Thinking about the effects of implementing this idea, he couldn't help but let out a strange laugh.
What are you laughing at?
Ai carefully observed the entire room, and without turning her head, asked a question. The laughter just now made her inexplicably feel that someone was going to suffer.
Kōyū didn't hide anything and said, "This toad's eyes can move. I'm thinking of having Conan wake up and have a loving eye contact with it."
"Tsk."
Ai couldn't help but imagine the scene, but she didn't say anything. After regaining her senses, she continued to observe the ornaments on the table.
Kōyū took out his phone and snapped a picture of the toad. He decided to develop the photo later and have it greet Conan.
This is no prank. If Conan wakes up and sees Brother Toad, he'll probably be completely wide awake. It's more useful than an alarm clock!
"Conan, you have to understand me, Mitsuyu. This is all for your own good!"
With tears in his eyes, Guangyou put away his phone and continued looking at the table in front of him.
"The person in this room has obsessive-compulsive disorder; the jars are spaced evenly apart, and they are also categorized..."
Guangyou stopped abruptly, holding the candlestick a little closer to the table, his eyes narrowing slightly, and muttered to himself, "Someone took the jars over here."
Whether it was part of the haunted house setup or not, Guangyou didn't pay much attention, simply noted this down, and continued reading.
Behind them was a well-preserved jar containing a healthy toad that lay quietly inside, showing no sign of resistance. Its mouth bulged, making the same sound the two had heard earlier.
Perhaps because it had been in darkness, the living toad seemed somewhat uncomfortable with the light, appearing a little agitated, and its cries grew louder.
"What are you yelling about? Do you want me to take you home and feed you to the black dog downstairs?"
Whether the toad understood or had become somewhat accustomed to the light, its voice softened after Guangyou finished speaking.
"They're quite obedient."
Guangyou glanced at it again, then turned back to look at the jar on the table that should have been there but wasn't; the jar was now empty where it should have been.
"So the little guy was making those noises earlier because its friend was missing?"
From the marks left on the table, Guangyou could tell that there was definitely a live toad in the jar next to it. Now, where that thing went is a question worth pondering.
The only sound coming from the little creature next to me was the chirping in the room; I couldn't hear a second one. However, all the signs here indicated that there was a second living creature in the room.
"Um?"
Guangyou wanted to take a step to the side, but it seemed that he stepped on something hard and sharp.
The candlestick was placed slightly downwards, and Guangyou could see clearly what he had stepped on. He bent down but didn't reach out; he just squatted down and looked at it, muttering to himself, "Judging from the amount of glass shards and the same seal as above, it should be that jar. But where did the little thing inside go?"
With so much dust here, if it really was an accident, there should at least be some traces left by the thing moving.
What did you discover?
Ai walked over to Kousuke, bent down, looked at the shards of glass on the floor, and asked with some surprise, "This shouldn't have been arranged by the haunted house, right?"
The organizers of the haunted house aren't stupid. How could they leave dangerous items like broken glass in a dark room? If something happened, it would be disastrous.
"It seems that someone deliberately took this thing and accidentally broke it."
Guangyou stood up, shrugged his shoulders, a playful glint in his eyes, and said, "Or perhaps, that person deliberately broke it."
He already had a general understanding of what had happened in the room. Although he didn't know who took it or what they took it for, he was certain that it had been taken.
