"Just because of that?"
Takagi felt that this reason was too far-fetched and there was no substantial evidence to prove it.
Although there was no evidence for the previous reasoning, it was logically sound and he could believe most of it. But this part doesn't make sense.
"More or less, that's definitely my own intuition."
Guangyou didn't really have much reason for this; it was more of an unfounded intuition, and he even made a very bold guess about it.
“Officer Takagi, if you investigate Ms. Watanabe, you might find that she and Mr. Sonoda were high school classmates or something.”
Guangyou suddenly remembered a certain uncle who was obsessed with Kantai Collection and remarked, "Maybe the two of them are childhood sweethearts who grew up together."
"Are you kidding me?"
While saying this, Takagi obediently walked over to Watanabe Kazuna and said, "Ms. Watanabe, may I speak to you in private?"
Ai walked over to Kousuke, reached into her pocket, pulled out a strawberry-flavored lollipop, tore off the wrapper, waved it in front of him, and asked, "Want some?"
"eat."
Guangyou reached out and took the lollipop, then put it in his mouth and took a big suck. The rich strawberry flavor filled his mouth, and the sweetness, which seemed to seep into every cell, made him squint his eyes slightly. He said with satisfaction, "Delicious."
Ai withdrew her gaze from Kousuke's face, took a blueberry-flavored cigarette from her pocket, tore off the wrapper, put it in her mouth, squinted her eyes slightly, and whispered, "Delicious."
Takagi, with a serious expression, looked at Watanabe and asked, "Ms. Watanabe, when did you meet Ms. Sonoda?"
Watanabe Kazuna took a breath, seemingly a little impatient, but after realizing the identity of the person in front of her, she suppressed her temper and honestly said, "She and I were classmates in high school, and that's where we met."
Upon hearing this, Takagi quickly turned around and glanced at Kōyū, who was sucking on a lollipop, his eyes filled with shock.
Turning back, Takagi pressed on, "So when did you and Mr. Sonoda meet?"
Watanabe frowned and asked, puzzled, "Does this have anything to do with the case?"
Takagi paused for a moment, then explained, "We suspect that the culprit in this case has some connection with Mr. Sonoda, so we want to find out more."
"Are you saying you suspect he's the murderer?"
Watanabe Kazuna looked displeased, as if she might explode at any moment, but because of the man's identity, she patiently said, "A man like him would never do such a thing."
After she finished speaking, she turned her head to look at Takagi, thought for a moment, and then explained her relationship with Sonoda Satoshi: "He lived next door to me when we were little, so we were like friends who grew up together."
Thank you for your cooperation.
After thanking him, Takagi turned around and stood back next to Mitsuyu, saying incredulously, "Mitsuyu, you're absolutely right. Mr. Sonoda and she are indeed high school classmates and childhood friends."
Guangyou raised an eyebrow. This situation was indeed unexpected. He was just being quirky, but he didn't expect it to actually be like this.
"However, she should have no connection to this case."
Kōyū didn't think this operation had anything to do with Watanabe Kazuna. He continued, "I guess she knew that the deceased had a messy love life, so she felt something like dissatisfaction or indignation that her beloved Mr. Sonoda married the deceased."
"Yes, I now also feel that Ms. Watanabe has some special feelings for Mr. Sonoda."
Recalling the conversation, Takagi thought for a moment and said, "Ms. Watanabe said that he was that kind of man, which means she must be very familiar with Mr. Sonoda, otherwise she wouldn't have answered so decisively."
Guangyou nodded, agreeing with his statement: "Yes."
"So how did he carry it out?"
Takagi couldn't figure out how Sonoda Satoshi carried out his plan. Without knowing this, and without enough evidence, even if he knew who the murderer was, he could only watch helplessly.
Now, back to the main point, Kōyū glanced at Sonoda Satoshi's shoes and said, "I do have an idea, but it may not be entirely correct."
"Tell me about it."
What just happened left a deep impression on Takagi. He no longer sees Kōyū as a simple child and wants to hear Kōyū's thoughts on the case.
"I suspect that Mr. Sonoda once impersonated a staff member of the haunted house."
Kōyū remembers clearly that when he and Ai were deliberately hiding from the werewolves, they heard a dull thud behind them. When they turned around and returned to the room, the candlestick that had been on the ground had been overturned, and the wax had spilled onto the floor, forming an irregular pattern.
There were obvious signs of trampling on it, but Kou didn't pay attention at the time. However, when Sonoda Satoshi appeared in front of him, the sneakers on his feet reminded Kou of the wax incident.
There are wax marks on the soles of the shoes, which is fine; he could have accidentally stepped on them while running in from outside. But why is there a wax drip on the upper of the shoes?
That doesn't make sense; no one would put a drop of wax on their shoes for no reason.
Moreover, the sneakers on Sonoda Satoshi's feet weren't cheap items that cost twenty or so yuan at a street stall; the large black swoosh on them proved that the shoes weren't cheap either.
