Outside, the sky was still blue, white clouds drifted by, and a red sun hid behind the clouds, its warm rays shining down through the gaps, completely dispelling the chill from one's body.
"It's more comfortable outside."
Guangyou reached out his other hand and rubbed his face, took a deep breath of the sun-kissed air outside, and then exhaled directly.
Ai suddenly tugged at Kousuke, pointed to their left, and said, "That looks like the staff member we encountered."
"Really?"
Kōyū turned his head and looked in the direction Ai was pointing, then chuckled softly, "But it seems she's running into some trouble now."
The young woman who was sleeping at work was frantically apologizing to a middle-aged man in a suit, who seemed to be saying something to her as well.
It's unclear what the conversation was about, but judging from the girl's relieved expression, she seems to have secured her job.
The area outside the haunted house has been secured by the police and cordoned off with caution tape. Some passing boys developed an inappropriate curiosity about what was happening inside the haunted house.
However, their female companions kept their distance from the haunted house, pulling their male companions along quickly, afraid of getting tainted by bad luck.
Guangyou glanced back at the haunted house and sighed regretfully, "This haunted house is going to have a tough time from now on."
A death in a haunted house might attract paranormal enthusiasts, but many normal people would be wary of it. People will likely come, but there won't be a long queue like when Guangyou first entered.
What happens to the haunted house in the future has nothing to do with Guangyou. He's only coming here once. The most important thing now is to solve the lunch problem.
The two walked along the road, stopping frequently to discuss which restaurant to eat at. Just then, Guangyou caught a glimpse of a familiar golden archway out of the corner of his eye. He pointed to the fast food restaurant and said, "Let's go eat at that one?"
Before Ai could respond, Kōyū pulled her towards the McDonald's.
As soon as he entered, the familiar cool air hit him, and the air was filled with the unique aroma of fast food restaurants, which made Guangyou, who was already hungry, smack his lips.
"I'll go order."
Guangyou had just taken a step to order food when he suddenly felt someone tug at his clothes. He heard the girl behind him say, "Go wipe yourself first. Look at your face, it's all black."
"Is that so?"
Upon hearing that his "handsome face" had turned black, Guangyou immediately changed his mind, "Then I'll go wash my face first."
Ai turned her head to look at Kousuke and asked, "What do you want to eat?"
"Anything is fine with me, you can order whatever you like."
After saying that, Guangyou turned and walked towards the bathroom, muttering to himself, "I wonder if my handsome face is ruined..."
"There's just no way to deal with him."
Hearing his mutterings, Ai couldn't help but shake her head. "Looks don't matter. It's not because of looks that he... Never mind, let's go order."
The cashier lowered her head, smiled, and asked, "Little sister, what would you like to eat?"
Ai looked up at the dazzling array of dishes on the lightbox menu, and for a moment she didn't know what to order.
The eye moves horizontally from left to right, eventually settling on the image that occupies the largest portion of the entire lightbox.
The cherry blossom-pink color occupied all the space in the picture except for the food image. The picture acted like a magnet, successfully drawing Ai's attention to it.
Ai reached out, pointed to the picture, and said to the cashier, "Please give me one of those set meals."
The cashier glanced back in the direction she knew, her expression immediately becoming complicated. She turned back to Ai and asked, "Little sister, this is a double portion. You might not be able to finish it. Wasting food isn't a good habit."
"There are two of us."
Ai's cheeks flushed slightly as she said firmly, "I want that one."
The restaurant couldn't refuse the customer's request for anything on the menu. The cashier nodded with a complicated expression, pressed a few buttons on the machine, and then said to Ai, "That'll be three thousand yen in total."
...
"Splash!"
Guangyou reached out and cupped the water flowing from the faucet, splashing it on his face to wash away the grime and reveal his otherwise fairly good-looking face.
After wiping some of the water off his face, Guangyou looked up at his reflection in the mirror and couldn't help but rub his cheek, saying narcissistically, "Luckily, I'm not disfigured."
At that moment, he noticed a slender figure in the mirror. She was dressed casually, with short, smooth, black hair that reached her ears. Her handsome face was lightly made up, which gave her a more approachable, girl-next-door vibe.
"Guangyou?"
The woman spoke first, her tone tinged with surprise and a hint of nervousness.
Guangyou reached for a tissue from the dispenser next to him and wiped the excess water from his face. Then he turned to look at the beautiful figure and smiled, "Good afternoon, Miwako-neechan."
Miwako straightened her expression, concealing her initial panic, and asked, "Did you come here with Conan and the others today?"
"I'm not here with Conan, but I am here to have some fun."
Kōyū looked Miwako up and down, pretending to know nothing, and asked with a smile, "Miwako-neechan, you're all dressed up so beautifully today, are you here on a date with your boyfriend?"
A blush instantly appeared on Miwako's fair face, but she quickly suppressed it, stubbornly saying, "He's not my boyfriend yet!"
