Chapter 514 Guangyou's Little Magic Trick

"You tricked me."

Guangyou looked up at the roof of the boat, his face showing a look of utter despair. He sighed and said, "After years of wandering the world, I've been completely outmaneuvered by a little girl. It's truly a disgrace."

His slightly pretentious remark made Ai roll her eyes at him, and she said, "Sit down and speak properly."

"oh."

Guangyou quickly abandoned his earlier attempt to show off and obediently sat back down in his chair. Although he didn't care in his heart, a disappointed expression still appeared on his face.

Okay, I'm sorry.

Ai didn't know he was faking it. She thought that the joke had made Kōyū feel a little down, so she felt guilty and quickly apologized to him, "I shouldn't have made that joke to you."

Kōyū didn't answer, but lowered his head so that Ai couldn't see the wicked smile on his lips.

Are you really angry?

Ai's expression changed slightly, a hint of regret showing in her eyes. She lowered her voice and whispered, "I'm sorry."

Does an apology help?

Kōyū's slightly hoarse voice reached Ai's ears, and the slight tremor in it made her heart skip a beat. She thought to herself, "He wouldn't..."

But Ai realized in the next second that her idea was wrong, and very wrong.

"At least you should give some kind of compensation."

Kōyū straightened his back instantly, turned his head and looked at Ai with hopeful eyes, the smile on his lips looking a bit smug. As he did this, he also raised an eyebrow at Ai.

After all this, how could Ai not know she'd been tricked? The little bit of guilt she felt vanished instantly. She slapped Kyouu lightly and said, "You tricked me and now you want compensation?"

She turned her head to look at the sunset outside and said, "It's not even dark yet, why are you already dreaming?"

Guangyou didn't give up. He shifted his position, moved closer, and said, "Then let's compensate each other, how about that? Is that fair?"

In fact, Ai had already agreed in her heart the moment Kousuke made the suggestion, but she didn't want to give Kousuke an answer so quickly, so she deliberately hesitated for a moment. After "thinking" for a while, she shook her head and said helplessly, "Okay, okay, what kind of compensation do you want?"

Kōyū's gaze was fixed on a certain part of Ai's face, his eyes beginning to wander, as he said, "I want..."

"No, absolutely not."

As soon as Ai saw Kousuke's expression, she knew what he was going to say. She shook her head, using a serious expression to hide her inner turmoil.

"well..."

Kōyū knew that the chances of Ai agreeing to the compensation were slim, but he was still a little disappointed when Ai actually refused. Then, a thought suddenly came to his mind, and he thought to himself, "Do it yourself and you'll have plenty."

Ai glanced around, then picked up a takoyaki, held it to Kouyu's lips, and said, "Here, your compensation, a delicious takoyaki."

"ah..."

Kōyū opened his mouth and ate the takoyaki, swallowing it whole. Then he looked at Ai and said, "Now it's my turn to give it to you."

Ai gave him a heads-up, saying, "You can't be like me."

"Okay, it's definitely different."

Kōyū smiled and said to Ai, "Then I'll show you a magic trick, but you have to close your eyes first."

"Magic? Okay."

Ai, without a second thought, closed her eyes as instructed by Kousuke, while secretly wondering, "What kind of magic trick requires me to close my eyes?"

After closing her eyes, she didn't have any other thoughts, only feeling a gentle breeze, which seemed to carry his scent, followed by a slight coolness on her left cheek...

"Pop"

After feeling something strange on her left cheek, Ai immediately sensed something was wrong, but it was too late.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Guangyou sitting upright. If the feeling on his face hadn't been so real, she might have actually been fooled by him.

"you…"

When Ai saw the bewildered look on Kousuke's face, she swallowed the words she was about to say.

What's wrong with me?

Guangyou blinked innocently and said calmly, "Isn't this the compensation we agreed on? How great is that?"

Ai rolled her eyes at Hikaru and spat, "What kind of compensation is this?"

Her reaction was exactly what Guangyou had expected. He remained completely calm and said to her with great confidence, "Compensation isn't about what you want, but about what I have."

"Really... humph..."

Ai didn't bother arguing with Kousuke, so she turned her head to look out the window and ignored him.

A gentle breeze, carrying the fragrance of riverside grass, lightly brushed against Ai's face, making the spot where Guangyou had "ambushed" her even cooler.

Her face, which had been stern just moments before, was now serene. She leaned against the railing, resting her chin on her hand, letting her tea-colored hair sway in the wind. The smile on her lips was warmer than the sun at that moment, but no one could see this scene except for the trees on the opposite bank.

Kōyū didn't disturb Ai; he was currently looking at Kaito and Aoko opposite him.

...

Aoko had recovered from her earlier withdrawn state and was leaning on the railing, looking at the scenery outside, occasionally letting out a gasp of surprise.

Kaito sat down next to her, his hands on the railing, secretly watching Aoko who was laughing. As soon as he saw that Aoko seemed to be turning her head away, he quickly turned his head away and returned to his original half-asleep state.
