Chapter 515 An Encounter at the Restaurant

"Ai, want to go see a movie tonight?"

Kōyū shifted his position, leaned closer to Ai's ear, and slightly altered his tone to make his voice sound more like the handsome guys in games and anime. He whispered, "There's a pretty good movie tonight, interested?"

Before even seeing someone, a pleasant voice can conjure up a matching appearance in one's mind, and its effect is undeniable.

Even though Ai had already memorized Kousuke's appearance, his sudden change in voice still gave her a completely new experience.

As soon as the voice entered her ears, Ai felt her heart skip a beat. Kōyū's voice sounded very magnetic, mature, and charming.

But when Guangyou's face appeared in her mind, it felt very incongruous.

Ai suppressed a smile, turned her head slightly, glanced at Kousuke, and asked, "What type?"

"Romance film."

Guangyou raised his head slightly, thought for a moment about the movie's name, and replied, "It seems to be called... Snow Country. I heard it's adapted from a novel, and the name sounds very beautiful."

"Snow Country, huh..."

Without much thought, Ai shook her head and said to Kousuke, "Then let's forget about it."

"Is it not good-looking?"

Kōyū was somewhat puzzled. He had no knowledge of either the movie or the original work and did not understand Ai's feelings at this moment.

Ai didn't elaborate, but simply told him, "It looks nice, but I don't like it."

She had read this book called "Snow Country" before, so she knew whether it was good or not.

It's important to know that this book was written by Yasunari Kawabata, a "giant" in Japanese literature and the second Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

His novel *Snow Country* is one of his greatest masterpieces, in which the beauty of nothingness, purity, and sorrow is depicted to the extreme, moving the reader and leaving them with a profound sense of melancholy.

The beautiful imagery is integrated into the expression of the characters' emotions, carrying a touch of sorrow.

It's a good watch, but the ending, where the female lead dies unexpectedly, is a bit heartbreaking.

In the past, she might have bought a movie ticket for this film, but not now.

She wants to watch some upbeat movies, even popcorn blockbusters are fine, as for those depressing ones…

Let's forget about it for now.

"Okay, then we won't watch this movie."

Kōyū didn't have much affection for this film, so he didn't care. Since Ai didn't like it, he would just let it go.

Ai, admiring the scenery, asked without turning her head, "Are there any other movies?"

"We're going to eat later, and according to the schedule, there's only one commercial popcorn movie left at 7:30, I think the name is something like Monster."

Guangyou focused all his attention on Snow Country from the beginning, and didn't pay much attention to the later movie, and couldn't even remember its name.

Upon hearing that it was a popcorn movie, Ai Haibara had no more reservations and said, "This one is fine."

"Okay, let's find a place to have dinner later, and then we'll look around for a while before signing the contract."

Guangyou glanced down at his less-than-ideal clothes and pants, raised an eyebrow, and said, "I still need to buy some clothes after this is over."

The "rafting" trip was nearing its end, the sun had already set, and darkness was falling.

After reaching the shore, Kōyū returned the boat and retrieved his deposit. Just as the two were leaving, he saw Kōto in the crowd again.

Kaito also saw Kousuke. He looked at Kousuke and Ai's hands clasped together with a playful expression and mouthed a few words: "Kid, it's not good to start dating too early."

Kwang-yu didn't mind, and raised his other hand to give him the middle finger, returning the favor in the same way.

...

"loser"

Kaito understood what Kōyū was trying to say; he knew Kōyū was mocking him.

They mocked him, saying that his relationship with Aoko hadn't made any real progress so far.

Looking at the mocking expression on Kōyū's face, and that middle finger that was still raised, Kaito felt more and more that this was not a good thing.

"We absolutely cannot let him look down on us."

Kaito turned around and glanced at Aoko, then shook his head. "Aoko isn't a tool for comparison, so let's forget about it."

Aoko looked at Kaito with her bright, sparkling eyes and a radiant smile, and asked, "Kaito, where are we going for dinner?"

Kaito's sabotage didn't seem to have affected Aoko's good mood at all; she still faced Kaito with her brightest smile.

Kaito involuntarily called out her name: "Aoko..."

"Hmm? What's wrong?"

Aoko was somewhat bewildered. She didn't know why Kaito was looking at her like that, nor did she know why she suddenly felt a little nervous.

Looking at the girl's face and recalling the past, Kaito felt a sudden rush of heat to his head and instinctively reached out to grab Aoko.

By the time he came to his senses, their hands were already clasped together.

Aoko's face flushed bright red instantly. Blushing, she said shyly, "Kaito, let me go."

"There are a lot of people here, I'm just afraid you silly woman will get lost."

Kaito even forgot about Kouyu's presence. He grabbed Aoko and quickly left the crowd, explaining as he walked, "If we lose it, your policeman dad won't let me off the hook."

"I think I've made an assist."

Guangyou watched the two leave hand in hand, feeling somewhat bewildered.

He really didn't mean to help them; he was just teasing them. Unexpectedly, this led to Kaito and Aoko holding hands.
