Chapter 516 Kaito, the Unwitting Caught in the Crossfire

"What's it to me?"

A black question mark popped into Kaito's mind. He glanced at Aoko sitting opposite him, then turned to look at Kouyu sitting next to him, and was immediately confused. "Why am I being dragged into this?"

He could tell that Guangyou hadn't done it intentionally this time, but rather it was a habit he had developed over time.

This made him very upset. If he scolded him, people were just like that; if he didn't scold him, he felt bad because he couldn't refute him at all.

"You've gone too far."

Kaito leaned closer, covered his mouth with his hand, lowered his voice, and asked Kouyu, "You really came here today just to have some fun?"

Kōyū gave Kaito a strange look, nodded, and said, "Yeah, I'm going on a date today too, is that not allowed?"

"Alright."

Kōyū didn't follow him on purpose, and he didn't pull out the chair on purpose to show him off, so what could Kaito say?

"Shouldn't you be thinking about how to get out of here?"

Kōyū leaned closer to Kaito and asked softly, "Aren't you going to steal jewels again tonight?"

Kaito glanced at Aoko, who was talking to Ai, and after confirming that she wasn't looking in his direction, he said to Kouyu, "I have a feeling that Aoko is hiding something from me, and it seems like she's deliberately keeping me by her side."

"You noticed?"

Kōyū wasn't surprised that Kaito could guess some of it. He nodded and said, "Perhaps she wants to know if you are Kaito Kid, but I don't know exactly what she's thinking."

This was just an unconfirmed thought that arose from his association with Kaito's other identity. He couldn't guarantee whether it was true or false; it was just a feeling.

"She should have no reason to doubt me."

Kaito was somewhat puzzled. In the past, he had never aroused Aoko's suspicion during his operations. At most, he would just slip away early and make Aoko angry for a while.

He suddenly remembered something and finally had a clue about the matter: "If I had to say, Inspector Nakamori might have seen my face last time, and that's probably why."

"Anyway, it's up to you to decide. Whether you expose yourself or not is none of my business."

Guangyou casually agreed and then turned around to look at the menu.

"Does it have to be so heartless?"

Kaito pouted, a look of disappointment on his face, but the next second he smiled again and said softly, "We're friends after all, can you give me some advice?"

Kōyū, flipping through the menu, replied without turning his head, "You, the mighty Phantom Thief Kid, are actually asking a kid like me for advice? Aren't you afraid of losing face?"

Kaito sighed with some regret: "Fine, I won't tell you then. I have gadgets, I just don't want to use them up so soon, it would be too wasteful."

It's important to know that these high-tech custom-made props are very difficult to obtain. He only had one, and it hadn't even been in his hands for a few days before he had to use it so soon.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Guangyou was quite relaxed about it, since the prop wasn't his, so he didn't feel any pressure at all.

"Easy for you to say! Do you know how expensive this prop is? It cost me a week's living expenses!"

Kaito glanced at Ai Haibara and suddenly had an idea. He grinned and said to Kousuke, "How about I teach you a little magic trick, and you help me think of a solution?"

"No need for magic tricks, I can do that too."

Kōyū had also chosen his dinner menu, closed it, turned to him and smiled, "But unlike yours, I know the Heart Magic."

"What the hell?"

Kaito was puzzled after hearing Kouyu's words. What was this "magic of the heart"? He had been performing magic for so many years, and this was the first time he had ever heard this term.

"This is my secret."

Guangyou smiled mysteriously at him. This was his exclusive skill, and he would never tell just anyone. Besides, it was also difficult to describe in words.

For example, the so-called "magic trick" that happened on the ship earlier was one of them.

Seeing that he couldn't seduce Kyou, Kaito had no choice but to give up and planned to use the item today when he had the chance.

"However, as your friend, I'll still give you a solution."

Changing the subject, Kōyū glanced at Aoko and Ai, then leaned close to Kaito's ear and whispered a few words.

After hearing Kouyu's suggestion, Kaito was skeptical about its feasibility and asked, "Will it work?"

"Either we take a gamble with this method, or you use that prop that costs a week's living expenses."

Kōyū shrugged. He didn't care what Kaito chose, since the item wasn't his money.

"Let's give it a try. If it doesn't work, we'll see."

Kaito was prepared to "die heroically." Although he didn't quite understand the method that Kousuke had just told him, he had a bad feeling about it.

Please enjoy your meal.

A waiter pushed a food cart to Kaito's table and placed the food in front of him and Aoko.

The dishes were all served, and Aoko ended her casual conversation with Ai, returning her attention to the table. To avoid arousing suspicion, Kōyū and Kaito also kept quiet and did not speak to each other.

Kōyū placed his hands on the dining table, looked at Ai, and asked softly, "What did you two talk about?"

"Want to know?"

Ai glanced at Kousuke, then suddenly smiled, "Actually, we just talked about some things about you..."

She stopped halfway through her sentence, and Guangyou waited for a long time, but she didn't continue.
