Who was that child just now?
A stylish woman dressed in glamorous clothes, arm in arm with the man beside her, teased, "Is he your illegitimate child?"
"How could that be?"
The man shook his head, reached out and tapped the woman's nose, saying affectionately, "But for me, that child is indeed very special."
"Or rather, he changed me unintentionally."
This question puzzled the woman. She didn't understand its meaning and asked, "What has changed about you?"
The man kept everyone in suspense, smiled slightly, and said, "I'll tell you about this another time."
The woman pouted, let go of his hand, took a few steps forward, then turned back to make a face at the man, feigning anger, and said, "I hate you so much!"
The man shrugged and slowly followed, grabbing her hand without asking if she agreed.
The woman tried to break free, but failed, so she let the man continue to hold her hand and lead her away into the distance.
...
"hey-hey."
Kōyū touched his nose, not wanting to continue discussing with Ai whether he was narcissistic or not. He raised his arm, glanced at his watch, and said, "It'll start in a few minutes."
"Um."
Ai nodded, got up and walked to the window, and whispered, "I really hope it can be like this every year."
Guangyou also got up and went to the window, saying, "Yes, merchants will never miss such a money-making opportunity."
Without turning her head, Ai replied, "That's not what I meant."
Kwang-woo pretended not to understand and asked, "What does that mean?"
Ai understood that Kousuke was pretending to be stupid, and her response was concise and clear, just two words.
"you guess."
Upon hearing those two words, Guangyou recalled a joke and replied, "Guess whether I'll guess or not."
A sly glint flashed in Ai's eyes as she continued, "Guess what I'm guessing, or do you want to guess?"
Not to be outdone, Guangyou continued, "Guess what I'm guessing, guess what I'm guessing, or not?"
Faced with such a convoluted sentence, Ai didn't think much and blurted out, "Guess what I'm guessing, guess what I'm guessing, guess what I'm guessing, guess what you're guessing or not."
…
The two played like this for a long time, and in the end, Ai was the better player, and Kousuke was defeated miserably.
Ai is still strong; she can think for less than a second and answer extremely quickly.
But Guangyou didn't have it so easy. He was fine at first, but the conversation got longer and longer, and more and more convoluted, until he completely forgot how to respond.
If you were to write down their conversation in Chinese and show it to Guangyou, he would probably completely forget how to write the word "guess".
"Ahem, let's not do anything fancy like that."
As the one who started it all, Guangyou ended up losing the most, which made him a little embarrassed. He quickly changed the subject and asked again, "What did you mean by what you said before?"
Ai Haibara responded with those same two words: "Guess."
"..."
This time, Kōyū wasn't going to play that guessing game with Ai anymore. He turned his head, looked out the window, and said softly, "Don't worry, it will be like this every year from now on."
Ai also dropped her joking tone and said gently, "I know, I believe you."
Outside the window, stars twinkle on a deep blue canvas. Even though their brilliance pales in comparison to the neon lights of the amusement park, their beauty cannot be completely replaced by neon lights.
Ai crossed her arms and rested her chin on them, looking up at the dazzling starry sky. She said, "I've heard that when people die, they become stars in the sky, silently watching over those who are still alive."
She suddenly turned her head to look at Guangyou and asked, "Do you think it's true? Do people really become stars in the sky after they die?"
Kōyū did not respond immediately. As a scientist, how could Ai not know that most stars are just ordinary celestial bodies in the universe?
He hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "If you just believe it, then it's true."
I believe it.
Ai pointed her finger at the clear glass and asked, "Can I find their star?"
"able!"
Guangyou walked behind her, put one hand on her shoulder, observed for a while, then pointed to what he thought was the brightest star in the night sky and said, "That's it."
Ai looked in the direction Kousuke was pointing, and then asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why is there only one?"
"And you called me stupid, ha~"
Guangyou ruffled her hair and explained, "Because they are family. That star is their home, and they will never be separated in this lifetime."
Ai lowered her eyes, then her lips curled up slightly into a smile, and she said, "You know how to talk."
The star-studded night sky is always so enchanting. For a moment, Guangyou was mesmerized by the starlight and exclaimed, "It's really beautiful."
As he gazed at the beautiful and vast starry sky and felt the warmth emanating from the delicate body in his arms, he almost believed in the existence of heaven.
"Um."
Ai's eyes sparkled as she softly echoed, "I hope this vast and magnificent starry sky will last forever."
The Ferris wheel was still turning, and soon Guangyou and his companion's cabin would rise to the highest point, which meant the fireworks festival was about to begin.
People in the park had all found their spots, either sitting on chairs by the fountain or sitting side by side on the grass with a good view.
All eyes were on the direction of the castle in the very center of the park, because the first firework of the fireworks display would be launched above the castle.
