Chapter 547 I'll stay here tonight to take care of him

Ai put the report aside. Since it had been confirmed that Kousuke was fine, the report was no longer of any use.

"Ai-chan."

Hearing Kōyū suddenly call her name, Ai looked at him in confusion and asked, "What's wrong?"

Guangyou glanced at her and said in a calm tone, "Let me see your left hand."

What are you going to do?

Ai looked puzzled, as if she knew nothing, but she secretly hid her hand behind her back.

"Sweetie, stretch it out here."

Kōyū looked at Ai and his tone suddenly became serious. "Put it out so I can see it."

Ai's eyes darted away, and she said somewhat hesitantly, "Can I refuse?"

Guangyou countered with, "What do you think?"

Ai pursed her lips, hesitated for a moment, then stretched out her left hand to Kyou, without saying a word.

"well.."

Guangyou looked at the hand in front of him and sighed deeply, "Why bother?"

There were burn marks on the web of Ai's left hand, the small red patches standing out starkly against her fair skin.

In fact, Kōyū had already noticed something was off. For example, when Ai came in, her little face was flushed, and she didn't look like she was going to buy porridge at all, but rather like she was cooking porridge.

The outside temperature wasn't cold; in fact, it was even colder inside the hospital. It wasn't cold enough to make that face so sore.

Only the rising steam from cooking porridge could make Ai's face look like that.

However, what dispelled Guangyou's suspicions was the takeout bag she was carrying. The bag had the logo of a nearby porridge shop on it. Coupled with his hunger, he didn't think too much about it for the time being, but he glanced at Xiao Ai before drinking the porridge.

However, at that time, Ai was holding the lunchbox in her left hand, which covered the burn marks, so Kousuke didn't notice.

But now Guangyou suddenly smelled a strange odor in the air.

The reason I didn't smell it earlier was probably because the delicate aroma of the porridge masked the smell.

Now that I've finished my porridge, I realize that there's a strange smell in the air.

The strange smell seemed somewhat like a medicinal ointment.

It's normal for the air in a hospital to smell like disinfectant, but this smell is clearly not from disinfectant.

Guangyou only received an IV drip of glucose; no ointment was used at all.

Moreover, this smell only started to appear after Ai came in.

This made Kōyū suspicious once again. Just now, he glanced at Ai's hand and suddenly saw what appeared to be a red mark.

This made Kōyū want to test the waters, but Ai's reaction told him that she was indeed hiding something from him and didn't want him to know.

Finally, he saw the heartbreaking scene before him.

"It has already been dealt with."

Ai's voice sounded as calm as ever, as if she wanted to tell Kousuke that she was alright.

"I know, but I still can't help feeling heartbroken."

Guangyou has been burned before; he often got burned when he was learning to cook, which was unavoidable.

In the beginning, it was common for him to get four or five blisters on his hands from the burns. Guangyou knew this kind of pain all too well.

The immediate pain after a burn is not too bad, but burns are continuous magical damage, and afterwards it will feel like the burned area is being pricked by tiny needles, and it is difficult to relieve this feeling in a short time.

Ai breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Kouyuu didn't blame her. She explained, "I accidentally got scalded by boiling water earlier. I've already applied ointment, and I can't feel any pain now."

You must be more careful in the future.

Kōyū won't stop Ai from touching the stove because of this incident. If Kōyū really did that, it would be far too domineering.

"Okay, I understand."

Ai withdrew her hand and nodded with a smile.

"Did you bribe the boss with money?"

Kōyū skipped the topic and looked at Ai, asking, "Otherwise, how could you possibly borrow their kitchen?"

Ai shook her head, denying Kōyū's guess, and said, "Then you really underestimate me. A woman's acting skills are innate."

"What's the meaning?"

Guangyou suddenly became curious: besides money, what method did Xiao Ai use to borrow someone else's kitchen?

“I told them that my brother wanted to drink a bowl of porridge I made before he died.”

Ai looked at Kōyū with amusement and continued, "Then I reasoned with him and appealed to his emotions, and finally the boss agreed to let me make a bowl of porridge in their kitchen."

"Even the porridge shop owner said that since I was so thoughtful, he would pay for the bowl of porridge himself."

After hearing this, Guangyou was speechless. Was the porridge shop owner really that easy to fool?

Or perhaps Ai's acting was so superb that the boss couldn't tell.

It was just that her brother wanted a bowl of porridge she made before he died...

Wait, what did Ai say?

Did my brother want a bowl of porridge before he died?

"Ai, there's something wrong with your excuse."

Kōyū looked at Ai with dissatisfaction. The term "brother" was a misunderstanding caused by the nurse earlier, but the rest was pure fabrication.

"It's just a lie to outsiders."

Ai placed her hand on the hospital bed, propped her chin up, and said, "Don't worry about it, the sibling relationship is fake too."

"No, I still feel a little unwell."

Kōyū snorted and gave Ai a few meaningful glances.

"So what do you want?"

Ai smiled as she looked at Kyou, who was being unreasonable, without feeling the slightest bit impatient.

"I want your porridge for my first meal after I'm discharged from the hospital tomorrow."
