"The world is going to the dogs! In broad daylight..."
Conan closed the door, glanced at the darkening sky outside the window, and changed his words, "In broad daylight... sigh, they didn't even know to lock the door."
"Hey, you've got it all wrong!"
The sound coming from behind the door was mostly blocked by the door, so Conan couldn't hear it clearly, nor did he dare to. He quickly shook his head and returned to the dining table.
"Conan, is Kousuke still going to eat?"
Conan settled back into his seat, thought for a moment, and replied, "He probably won't eat. He's... busy right now."
"Okay, but let's save one for him anyway, so he can heat it up if he gets hungry tonight."
Xiaolan was very thoughtful. After saying that, she went to the kitchen, got a lunchbox, and made a bento for Guangyou.
Conan ate his rice, glancing at his room with a complicated expression: "Why don't they move to another place? Sigh, how am I supposed to look at them the same way again?"
"The door wasn't even locked, is there such a rush?"
"Besides, my current physical condition isn't really good for doing these things!"
"Forget it, forget it. Let them handle their own affairs."
"Let's eat."
Conan snapped out of his daze and continued to devour the rice in his bowl.
…
"Hey, you've got it all wrong!"
Kōyū instinctively called out to Conan outside the door.
Unfortunately, Conan didn't hear it, and even if he had, he wouldn't have dared to come back.
"A lifetime of illustrious reputation ruined in an instant!"
Kōyū wanted to touch his forehead and sigh, but his hand was being held down by Ai, and he was sore and weak that he couldn't move at all.
Before closing the door, Kousuke saw Conan's face, and the expression on that face...
Well, the word "complex" is hardly enough to describe it; that expression was truly quite complex.
Shock, confusion, embarrassment... a multitude of emotions converged on Conan's face.
That wasn't even the most awkward part. The most awkward part was that Conan closed the door!
As Conan closed the door, he said to him, "Sorry to bother you, please continue."
Upon hearing this, Guangyou wished he could dig a hole and disappear.
This is all a misunderstanding!
Putting age aside, Guangyou felt that even if that incident hadn't happened, he wouldn't have chosen to stay here!
He wasn't that desperate, and besides, even if he had those thoughts, he was willing but unable to act on them!
What was with that "I understand, I'll make way for you" look on Conan's face before he left?
You're usually quite smart, so why didn't you think things through this time?
What's going on with all the running around?
"I'm so damn angry at this husky."
Kōyō was utterly bewildered. He wished Conan had arrived a moment earlier or a moment later, but Conan barged in right at the start of the incident.
"Forget it, it's too late to say anything now."
Kōyū decided to put the issue aside for now and let Conan think what he wanted.
As long as you know the truth about your own situation, that's enough.
The most important thing now is to see if Ai is alright.
Are you alright?
Are you alright?
The words had barely left their mouths when the two of them visibly paused, then, as if by prior arrangement, they both said in unison, "I'm fine, how about you?"
The two couldn't help but laugh. Ai said, "You're here to cushion my fall, and if all else fails, there's always the mattress."
"You're fine, but I'm in trouble. This living person just fell on me and hit me in the chest. I'm still in pain."
Guangyou took a deep breath, as if doing so would alleviate the pain.
Ai teased, "Didn't you just say you were fine?"
Guangyou explained with a wry smile, "How could nothing be wrong? I just subconsciously didn't want you to worry."
Ai reached out and rubbed her forehead where she had bumped it, saying, "You're one to talk! I bumped into you, and it hurts a little too."
"Didn't you just say you were fine?"
Guangyou laughed; he realized what he had just asked.
Wasn't that what Ai asked him just now?
"How could it be nothing? Forces are reciprocal. When I bumped into you, you felt pain, and I felt pain too. You said it was nothing just because..."
At this point, Ai realized what was going on.
Their answers were exactly the same; they both didn't want the other to worry about them.
So I subconsciously told the other person, "I'm fine."
The story is quite heartwarming, and the two of them momentarily forgot their current predicament.
But after saying that, Ai realized what had happened.
She's still nestled against someone's chest!
She was so engrossed in chatting that she didn't even realize it.
The last time I did this was when I was staying overnight at the hospital.
That time it happened in a dream, and when I woke up I was like that.
This time is completely different; both of them are fully conscious this time.
However... it's quite warm here.
Moreover, you can clearly hear the heart beating "thump-thump" in Guangyou's chest.
Even so, Ai still decided to leave this warm embrace as soon as possible.
If things continue like this, Guangyou might take advantage of it in the future, and then it will be too late.
Although Ai knew that Kousuke wasn't that kind of person, she still had to be careful.
Thinking of this, Ai quickly stretched out her hands to support herself and prepared to get up and go out to serve Guangyou a bowl of soup.
However, how could Guangyou let her go so easily?
Conan just stumbled upon the two of them... and misunderstood them. They probably won't be coming in anytime soon.
Xiaolan is even more of a different story; she never opens someone's door without knocking.
In other words, for a short period of time, only Kousuke and Ai were left in the room.
