Kuroki House Living Room
The group sat on the sofa waiting for Takagi to bring Satake Ken over, while Conan was deep in thought, stroking his chin.
"Is the murderer Kenji Kuroki?"
This is the problem Conan is currently thinking about. He has no evidence and cannot confirm the identity of the murderer, which is why he feels this case is very difficult to solve.
Even so, he didn't want to give up just like that.
Compared to Conan, Mitsuyu was much more relaxed. His purpose in staying here was simple: he just wanted to confirm whether he had guessed the culprit correctly.
Whether the case was solved in the end or not was none of his business, so he was currently engrossed in reading the "Edogawa Ranpo Collection" that he had borrowed from Conan.
Ai, meanwhile, was resting with her eyes closed, relying on Kyou's help.
...
“Mr. Satake, please have a seat in the living room for a moment. I will go and notify the police inspector.”
"OK."
Upon hearing Takagi's voice, Kōyū closed his book and looked up to observe the unfamiliar man who had appeared in his field of vision.
The man was about 1.75 meters tall, which is considered tall for a Japanese person. He wore a pure black tuxedo over a pure white shirt and had his hair slicked back, so he did look like a pianist.
And to be honest, this person is alright looking, but not nearly as good-looking as him.
This man is none other than Takeshi Satake, whom he and Conan were waiting for, and is also one of the current suspects.
The moment Mitsuyu saw Ken Satake, he understood why Yuri Kuroki would spend money to support him—because he had the means to not work hard.
Although he's not as good-looking as him, he's still alright. What's more, Takeru Satake can play the piano. He's got some good looks and some talent. I just don't know if he can satisfy that wolf's needs.
It should be possible... after all, it's been going on for a year.
"Damn... what am I thinking?" Kōyū banished these strange thoughts from his mind, then looked at Sōken Satake and thought to himself, "Based on the current situation, he is the least suspicious."
"Aside from his identity and that previous phone call, there's nothing else suspicious about him. The only question is whether he has an alibi for this afternoon."
There's no use in thinking about it now; everything depends on the results of the investigation.
A moment later, Inspector Megure and Takagi entered the living room.
"It's getting late, aren't you all going home?" Inspector Megure said, looking at the group sitting on the sofa. "I'll have someone drive you home. It's not good for kids to be out so late."
"Thank you, Inspector Megure, but no need to trouble yourself." Knowing that Inspector Megure didn't want the kids to hear their conversation, Mitsuyu quickly said, "We're just about to go out for dinner."
"Then you can go eat. If you want to go back, just let me know and I'll have Officer Takagi take you home."
Having achieved his goal, Inspector Megure did not insist further, but simply nodded to the group, indicating his agreement with Mitsuyu's statement.
"Let's go, I'm starving."
As he said this, Kōyū subtly pointed to his cuff, giving Conan a hint, to which the latter nodded in understanding.
After receiving a response, Kousuke took Ai and left the house.
...
It was getting late, and the deep, dark blue sky was dotted with stars.
The group couldn't just leave like that. At that moment, Kyou and Ai were sitting on a stone bench between the pond and the flowerbed.
The light outside was insufficient, so Guangyou naturally couldn't read here. The murder case in the house was still unsolved, but he was enjoying the moon with great interest.
The moon tonight is mostly waning; though not as full as the full moon on the fifteenth, it still has its own unique beauty.
"Thump..."
Before the sound of the door closing had even faded for a second, Conan's voice drifted over: "Actually, even if you hadn't told me, I would have known about the bugging device."
“It would be awkward if you forgot.” Guangyou reached out and patted a stone bench next to him, saying, “Come sit down, I’d like to hear what they’re talking about.”
"OK."
...
"Mr. Satake, the reason I called you here is to ask what you wanted to discuss with the deceased earlier?"
As soon as the conversation began, Inspector Megure cut to the chase, asking, "Our investigation has revealed that your relationship with the deceased seems rather unusual."
Sitting opposite him, Takeshi Satake lowered his head and remained silent, his expression conflicted, as if he was considering whether or not to tell the truth.
After a long pause, Takeshi Satake finally managed to utter, "Officer, I didn't kill him."
“I didn’t say you killed him,” Inspector Megure said seriously. “I’m asking if you had any relationship with the deceased. I hope you won’t give an irrelevant answer.”
Another silence fell...
As time ticked by, fine beads of sweat appeared on Takeshi Satake's forehead, likely because Inspector Megure's aura was so strong that it made him feel breathless.
It's also possible that his relationship with her was too embarrassing for him to talk about.
After a long stalemate, Takeru Satake still didn't answer Inspector Megure's question.
"Mr. Ken Satake, I hope you can cooperate."
Upon hearing this, Ken Satake knew that he could no longer delay. After making a decision in his heart, he gritted his teeth and nodded: "Yes, there is indeed an improper relationship between me and Yuri Kuroki."
After saying this, he lowered his head even further, which was already bowed.
"So what brings you to the deceased today?" Inspector Megure didn't seem to notice his odd behavior and continued, "I know you didn't kill anyone, so I hope you can answer honestly. We won't wrong an innocent person."
