The bright moonlight shone on the courtyard of the Kuroki family's house, and the crescent moon was reflected on the pond, shimmering in the light. Occasionally, a koi carp would swim by, creating a ripple, and often a gentle evening breeze would blow, making the leaves rustle.
If it weren't for the strange expression on Guangyou's face, the quiet scene would have been quite charming.
"Is this guy that short of money?" Guangyou couldn't understand it. Satake Ken's salary was definitely enough to support himself, and he had many ways to increase his income.
For example, he could teach others to play the piano or be invited to play the piano at someone's wedding. He has many ways to make money, so he would never have to resort to finding a rich woman.
"Is his girlfriend materialistic? No, that has nothing to do with me."
Halfway through his thought, Kōyū suddenly realized that whether or not Ken Satake found a rich woman had nothing to do with him; what he cared about was whether his guess was correct.
"If what he said is true, then Kenji Kuroki is undoubtedly the prime suspect now, because his wife betrayed him, and out of love turned to hatred, he accidentally killed her and then staged the scene."
Sitting to the side, Conan had no idea that Kousuke had thought of so much in an instant. He still maintained that thoughtful expression, and soon he deduced the entire process of the case based on the information he had.
Of course, whether this process is correct remains a big question mark.
"Now, besides the evidence, there's one more thing: where is Kenji Kuroki?"
Coming to his senses, Kōyū listened to the conversation inside and began to think about serious matters. "Inspector Megure just said that they couldn't contact Kenji Kuroki, which means that Kenji Kuroki is currently missing. We don't have any evidence yet, so we can't be sure that he is the murderer."
In fact, as long as he knew the whereabouts of Kenji Kuroki, Mitsuyu was confident that he could make him confess whether he was the murderer.
Based on the information he currently has, Kenji Kuroki probably knows that his wife is cheating on him, but it's unclear whether he knows that he might be wearing two green hats.
Even so, Mitsuyu felt that Kenji Kuroki still had feelings for Yuri Kuroki, and he really wanted to maintain the family, otherwise he would have divorced Yuri Kuroki long ago.
That's why Kōyū felt he could appeal to Kenji Kuroki's emotions.
There's a saying that goes like this?
Love can change everything... To put it bluntly, it's all about smooth talk, or to be more precise, it's the special ability of the protagonists in those action-packed anime—talking trash.
However, now that we can't even see him, his verbal skills are completely useless.
It's impossible for him to shout "Kuroki Kenji, hurry up and turn yourself in" and then Kuroki Kenji would jump out and turn himself in, right?
If Kenji Kuroki really comes forward and confesses, he'd gladly eat the koi in the pond like sashimi and drink the pond water like soup.
Thinking of this, Guangyou glanced towards the gate, and nodded in satisfaction after confirming that everything was calm.
The story isn't that dramatic; you don't even need to think about it to know it's impossible.
"Thump..."
The sudden sound of a door closing made Kōyū instinctively glance toward the source of the sound and breathe a sigh of relief. He had thought it was Kenji Kuroki who had suddenly appeared.
Fortunately, fate had other plans; instead of Kenji Kuroki, it was the pretty boy, Ken Satake, who came out of the door.
“It seems they’ve finished talking inside. Shall we go in now?” Mitsuyu stood up from the stone bench as he watched Satake Ken’s departing figure. “Or shall we go eat? I’m actually quite hungry.”
"I won't go. You two go ahead. I want to stay here and look for clues." Conan refused without even thinking.
Just kidding, if he went to eat with these two guys, he'd be eating food in his mouth but swallowing dog food instead.
Do you want him to be a third wheel?
Are you kidding me?
"Alright, good luck then. Ai and I will go grab some dinner nearby." Kōyū didn't think much of it; he just wanted to fill his empty stomach.
Then, the two left the Kuroki residence and prepared to find a place nearby to have dinner.
The sky had completely darkened, and the streetlights illuminated those still outside. Under the streetlights were two long shadows, hand in hand, walking very slowly.
“A perfectly good family has been torn apart like this.” Guangyou felt regretful when he thought about it. “They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but now that we’re so far apart, the family is gone. I really don’t know what to say.”
“The couple rarely managed to have dinner together, maybe a few days a year. It’s normal for things to turn out this way after a while,” Ai Haibara commented. “Because he didn’t want to be alone, the deceased… sought out Ken Satake.”
Her words reminded Guangyou of Ms. Komiya, the teacher who took photos of Kuroki Yuri. Although he wasn't there, he could sense that Kuroki Yuri was quite happy when she was with Ms. Komiya.
“One wants to earn money to support the family, and the other wants someone to be with them. In the end, they each have their own reasons, but their methods are wrong.” Guangyou clicked his tongue. “I’m different from them. Anyway, I’m not short of money. After we get married, we’ll open a clinic or a small supermarket together or something.”
"It doesn't matter how much money we have, what we care about is freedom. We can open the door whenever we want, or go out and have fun together if we don't want to... Ah, perfect."
Imagining this kind of life, Guangyou's face showed a satisfied smile.
He had dreamed of this kind of life countless times, both in the past and now.
Previously, this kind of life was only in his dreams, but now it's starting to take shape.
"You wish! Who would want to marry you?" Ai said dismissively, but her smile was still quite obvious, showing that she was quite satisfied with the life plan that Mitsuyu had described.
"Oh ho, judging from your words..." Kwangyu could hear the smugness in her voice, so he pretended to say, "Do you want me to be with someone else, or do you want to abandon me?"
Upon hearing this, Ai shifted her gaze elsewhere and lowered her voice slightly: "Then why weren't you the one who abandoned me?"
"Because I'm lazy." With a little effort, Kōyū pulled Ai to his side and continued, "I'm so lazy that I feel like having you is enough, and I'm too lazy to fall in love with another person."
"Alright, alright, stop joking around. Go in and order, I'm going to the restroom."
Unbeknownst to them, the two had arrived at the entrance of a restaurant. After saying this, Ai quickly let go of his hand and hurried into the restaurant.
"This girl..." Guangyou looked up at the restaurant sign and smiled helplessly, "She could have come anytime, but judging from her expression, she probably agreed, right?"
...
Inside the restaurant's restroom, a spotless mirror reflected Ai's slightly flushed cheeks. This could be due to Kouyu's words, or it could be because the restaurant had its heating on.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Ai murmured, "Actually, I'm pretty lazy too..."
