On the bench outside the wooden house
A cool breeze blew by, making people unconsciously tighten their clothes.
Seeing Conan eating bread beside her, Ran asked with concern, "Conan, it's so warm inside, why don't you go inside and sit down?"
"But there has to be room for me inside..." Conan took a big bite of bread, as if he were Mitsuyuki, and sighed in his heart, "Although they didn't kick me out, the atmosphere inside... isn't really suitable for me."
He was quite touched when Guangyou gave him bread. After all, Guangyou had saved some bread for him, hadn't he?
But just as he was about to happily eat his bread, Guangyou said something utterly meaningless to him, which completely ruined the taste of the bread in his mouth.
Do we really have to emphasize that we bought these breads because we were worried he wouldn't have enough to eat?
So he resolutely picked up the bread on the table, walked straight out of the house, and prepared to sit on the bench to solve his lunch problem.
It was a bit chilly outside, but nothing serious. He thought it was better to eat bread in the cold wind than to eat dog food in a warm house, and the scenery outside was better too.
"Did Kōyū let you out?" Ran was a little surprised. In her mind, Kōyū was quite sensible and shouldn't do such a thing. But seeing Conan's complicated expression, she felt that something had happened to Conan.
"No, it's just that I think bread and scenery go better together." Conan shook his head, and looking at Ran's concerned expression, he said as if possessed, "Besides, I can keep Ran company here."
Hearing this, Ran laughed and reached out to ruffle his hair: "Conan, you really are something."
"hey-hey…"
Seeing the smile on Ran's face, Conan felt the taste of the bread in his mouth return.
It smells so good!
The sun hanging in the sky radiated heat, dispelling the chill from the two of them.
"Seriously, why is this car so slow? I really want to go to the hot springs!"
Suddenly, Uncle Mori's complaining voice came from afar. The two people sitting on the bench shook their heads helplessly as if they had agreed beforehand, and then smiled.
…
Inside the wooden house, Guangyou could clearly see what was happening between the two through the window.
Even though he couldn't hear the sound, Guangyou could still guess what it was.
However, Kousuke was too lazy to gossip about what happened between the two of them, so he turned to Ai and said, "Ai, I'm going to sleep for a while. Wake me up when the car arrives."
"Hmm." Ai nodded, turned around, took out a novel from her backpack, and started reading it by herself.
A moment later, Ai heard a steady breathing sound. She looked up, glanced at Kyou, who was sleeping on the table, smiled slightly, and then continued to immerse herself in the sea of words.
Sunlight streamed through the glass, filling the entire wooden cabin. The sound of steady breathing and turning pages mingled together, creating a tranquil and comfortable atmosphere.
And this is exactly the kind of life that Ai longs for.
...
Xiaotiangou Mountain is not in a good location, and the interval between the two buses is quite long.
One bus had already left when the case was being solved, so the passengers waited for almost an hour.
Hearing the sound of the bus engine outside, Ai looked up and made sure the bus had reached the foot of the mountain. She then reached out and shook Kōyū, whispering, "It's time to wake up."
"Oh... okay..."
Having just woken from a sweet dream, Guangyou was still a little dazed. In his hazy vision, his brown hair shone faintly in the sunlight.
As his vision cleared, seeing Ai's delicate profile revealed as she packed her bag, still half-asleep, Kōyū subconsciously murmured, "So beautiful..."
Hearing this, Ai smiled slightly, placed the packed schoolbag in front of Mitsuyu, and said, "Stop joking, they're still waiting outside."
After a short while, Guangyou fully regained his senses, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and replied, "Oh."
...
The bus was empty as always. There was an old lady with it when it arrived, but now there was no one else besides the driver and them.
Uncle Mori suddenly had a bad feeling: "It's so deserted here. Is that hot spring deserted too?"
"Isn't it good that there are no people?" Kōyū gave Uncle Mori a strange look. "If there are few people, wouldn't it be like we have the whole place to ourselves?"
"Yes, I think the fewer people, the better." Xiaolan seemed to have thought of something, her tone rising, "Dad, you don't have another purpose, do you?"
Hearing this, Conan was puzzled: "Huh? If you're not going to the hot springs to soak in them, then what are you going for?"
“Children don’t need to know so much.” Xiaolan stared at Uncle Mori with a stern face, maintaining her previous tone, and pressed, “Dad, tell me honestly, what exactly do you want to do?”
"Well... let me explain..."
Feeling immense pressure from Ran, Uncle Mori's forehead was covered in cold sweat.
Looking at Xiaolan, who was about to explode with anger, he suddenly remembered the phone call the police had made to him earlier.
While he was waiting for the bus, the police called him.
He thought he was being notified to go to the police station to give a statement, but it turned out the police called and asked him to pass on a message to Xiaolan.
"It's good to subdue the criminal in that situation, but remember to control your strength."
Puzzled, he quickly pressed for details, only to learn that when Ran saw Kondo trying to escape, she swiftly and decisively subdued him.
The examination revealed that Kondo had a dislocated jaw and three broken ribs, one of which nearly pierced an internal organ.
