Chapter 624 Would you be willing to be my research subject?

"Huff...huff..."

In the TV series, the protagonist hides in a closet and observes the outside world through a crack; the faint sound of footsteps seems to tread on one's heart.

Coupled with the quiet but eerie background music, the terrifying atmosphere was instantly created.

This atmosphere is one of the selling points of this TV series, and also what the director is most proud of.

What the director never expected was that when the plot entered its most terrifying part, two "elementary school students" in front of the TV were not only completely unaffected by the atmosphere, but the atmosphere between them was like watching a romance movie.

If the director saw this, he'd probably vomit blood. The TV series has a good reputation online, but even fans of this genre felt a bit creeped out after watching it.

In the end, it didn't even scare the two "elementary school students".

"Actually, it was filmed quite well, but I didn't really feel anything about it." Guangyou turned off the TV. "I even thought the music was a bit noisy."

The occasional footsteps gave Guangyou the feeling that someone might push the door open and enter at any moment.

If someone actually comes over, their footsteps might be drowned out by this background music, which would be really awkward.

Kōyū looked down at Ai in his arms and said, "Ai, I've noticed you've changed a lot lately."

"I've changed?" Ai asked, puzzled. "Changed in what way? Have I gained weight?"

Kōyū didn't give her an answer right away. Instead, he hugged Ai a little tighter and said, "You seem to have gained a little weight."

"You've gained weight?" Ai quickly shifted the blame, "It's all because you made me eat so much. Looks like I'll have to stay away from you when we get back. Don't come looking for me until you've memorized the theory of relativity."

This reaction made Guangyou realize once again how important weight is for most girls. He laughed and explained, "Memorizing 'Relativity' is one thing, but I was just kidding, I was just teasing you."

Upon hearing this, Ai realized that her reaction had been a bit too strong. Recalling the words she had just uttered, her thoughts drifted away.

She used to never have to worry about gaining weight because she usually only ate one or two meals a day, or sometimes she wouldn't eat at all. She also drank coffee every day and sometimes exercised.

Therefore, her weight simply cannot increase; it would be a miracle if she didn't lose weight, let alone gain weight.

And so what if she gets fat? Nobody cares if she gets fat. What people care about is whether she still has any use to them.

But she's different now. A simple comment from Guangyou, "You've gotten a little chubby," can cause her emotions to fluctuate noticeably.

In the past, Ai Haibara never imagined that one day she would worry about getting fat.

After thinking about the reason for a while, Ai raised her head slightly and glanced at Kousuke: "Am I worried that he will think I'm fat?"

"This feeling..." Ai lowered her head and muttered to herself, "It's actually quite nice."

Actually, Ai really wanted to tell Kousuke what was on her mind, but somehow, the words that came out were: "That won't do either. I don't have to memorize 'Relativity,' but I still have to stay away from you for a while."

"As long as you're happy." Kōyū looked down at Ai and teased, "Don't come looking for me then."

"No, don't worry." Ai said this without much confidence, so she quickly changed the subject, "Speaking of which, you said I've changed, so what exactly has changed about me?"

"I've noticed you've become much more proactive," Kōyū said, nuzzling her soft hair with his chin. "You wouldn't have done something like this when we first met. You'd blush even just holding hands. Now... ugh..."

Before he could finish speaking, Guangyou felt a pain spreading up his thigh, the intense pain making him gasp.

"Ai, what are you doing?" Kōyū quickly rubbed the spot where he had been pinched. "I'm just stating the facts."

Upon hearing this, Ai slowly placed her hand on Kousuke's thigh, seemingly wanting to pinch it again, and coldly said, "You still dare to say that?"

Guangyou quickly said, "Fine, I won't say anything more. Just let go of my hand."

“People always change.” Ai shifted her gaze elsewhere. “Besides, you’ve changed a lot too.”

Have I changed too?

Upon hearing this, Guangyou paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "That's true."

Then, the two fell silent, each reflecting on the changes in themselves since they met each other.

Guangyou felt that the biggest change that happened to him was canceling his FFF group diamond membership and leaving the ranks of single people.

Aside from that, Guangyou felt more and more like a normal person walking in the sunlight, which was good news for him.

This is also reflected in Ai Haibara. At first, she was wary of everyone around her, but now she has changed a lot.

Kōyū didn't know about the others, but he knew that Ai had completely let her guard down with him, otherwise she wouldn't have snuggled into his arms or even fallen asleep peacefully next to him.

Ai thought similarly to Kousuke. She realized that she smiled at Kousuke more often than she had in the previous ten years combined, and all of them were genuine smiles.

In the past, she wouldn't have dared to even think about such daring things, let alone do them.

She is also a girl, and she also hopes that someone other than her family can cherish her, but her past experiences have made her seal away these girlish thoughts one by one.

After meeting Kousuke, Ai felt that the door in her heart, which had been closed for a long time and had even been covered in dust, was opened by his own hands.
