Everyone rushed to the living room, and upon opening the door, they were greeted by the sight of Mrs. Masuo lying in a pool of blood with a knife stuck in her back.
Kōyū slowly walked in, and seeing Kōyū Masuo slumped on the ground, a strange smile appeared on his lips.
Seeing this smile, Conan went to Kouyu's side and asked, "What's wrong?"
Kōsuke didn't answer him, but shook his head. Seeing this, Conan also went to Mrs. Masuo's side to check the message.
Takagi immediately wanted to call an ambulance, but Miwako, who came forward to check the situation, stopped him: "No need to call an ambulance. Call the search and rescue team and the forensic doctor. Mrs. Masuo is already dead."
Upon hearing this, Keizo Masuo's expression grew even more terrified, with tears welling up in his eyes. While he might be able to deceive others, in Kouyu's eyes, his expression appeared unusually fake.
Takagi glanced at his watch and noted down the time the body was discovered.
This step is a very important clue in criminal investigation. The time of death can be deduced from this time and the forensic examination results to confirm alibis and similar documents.
Keizo Masuo grabbed Takagi's shoulder, looking incredulous. Not only Mitsuyu noticed it, but Conan did too.
The man's behavior was extremely strange. From the crime scene, there were no signs of dragging or fighting, which meant that this room was the primary crime scene.
When they entered the house, the living room door was closed. According to normal thinking, the murderer had closed the door. There was a broken window at the end of one of the corridors on the way to the living room. However, Masuo Keizo did not notice this at all after entering the house.
One possibility is that he didn't notice, but given that he had just entered the house unaware of the death and that Masuo Keizo didn't show any signs of panic, he would have noticed that no matter what.
Another possibility is that he already knew about the window before he even entered the room.
Furthermore, the fact that the police were sent upstairs as soon as they entered the door makes Guangyou think there's something fishy going on.
"There is a 120% chance that this is the murderer."
Guangyou crossed his arms and muttered to himself, "But we're still missing some evidence. I remember where the clues were in the original story?"
Soon, a large contingent of police arrived.
The other officers were also taking notes to understand the situation.
Takagi then recounted the whole incident, mentioning that everyone had heard Mrs. Masuo's scream.
Conan added, "I think Mrs. Masuo must have been doing something else besides making a phone call at the time."
Seeing the puzzled looks from the police officers, Conan pointed to Mrs. Masuo's body and explained, "I think Mrs. Masuo was probably riding her bicycle while making a phone call."
After the police officers had calmed down, Conan continued, "Because Mrs. Masuo was covered in sweat, and people stop their metabolism after death, they won't sweat even if it's hot. Therefore, it's clear that Mrs. Masuo was definitely riding her bicycle and talking on the phone when she was murdered."
Takagi forced himself to stand up and knelt down next to Conan: "Conan, how can a little kid like you come into the scene?"
However, Miwako and Takagi had completely different focuses, and they were somewhat surprised to hear Conan's words: "You're quite capable, aren't you!"
Miwako walked up to Conan, bent down, and asked with a smile, "Little brother, I haven't asked you your name yet!"
"This bespectacled kid is called Conan Edogawa. He calls himself a detective and currently lives at the Mouri Detective Agency," Kōyū added for Conan.
“No wonder you know so much! By the way, what about you, little brother?” Miwako looked at the adorable Mitsuyu, her eyes shining with the same light.
"My name is Kōyū. Don't overthink it. I have nothing to do with this bespectacled kid. It's just a coincidence!" Kōyū hurriedly explained, afraid that Miwako would misunderstand.
Conan was speechless after hearing this.
Miwako knew what to do at this point and ordered the police officers, "Remember to search the room thoroughly to see if there's any possibility of murder for money."
At that moment, a male voice came over: "I think the possibility of killing someone purely for money is very small. The culprit must have directly targeted Lady Masuo."
"Deputy Team Leader Shiratori?" Takagi said, looking at the figure at the door.
Officer Shiratori smiled proudly: "I'm no longer the deputy team leader, but an inspector. I'm now in full command of the cases here."
Upon hearing that Shiratori had been promoted to inspector, Miwako smiled and said, "That's great! Office workers get promoted so quickly! Oh, by the way, would you consider me as one of your bride candidates?"
Officer Shiratori showed no emotion on his face, but the joy in his eyes was self-evident: "Of course, it would be my honor."
Shiratori was secretly pleased, while Takagi panicked, his face showing undisguised alarm: Could it be that the person Miwako likes is Shiratori?
Seeing Takagi's panicked face, Kōyū couldn't help but shake his head.
Conan, who was also watching Takagi from the side, stared blankly with dead fish eyes as he watched Takagi's intense internal struggle.
After briefly understanding the situation, Officer Shiratori confidently stated, "I believe it's because Mrs. Masuo saw the robber's facial features or something, so the robber killed her to avoid being exposed."
Masuo Keizo, who was standing to the side, thought for a moment and said, "Oh right, I remember my wife mentioned something about foreigners yesterday."
Combining what Keizo Masuo said, Shiratori's smile widened: "Takagi, quickly notify headquarters that the suspect has been confirmed to be a foreigner!"
This line of reasoning seems reasonable at first glance, but upon closer examination, it is riddled with problems.
Conan stroked his chin: "That's not right. The bicycle is only about a foot away from the back, and there's no door at the back. How could this person have attacked Mrs. Masuo from behind?"
Officer Shiratori turned around and saw it was Conan. He looked helpless and said, "It's you again?"
As he spoke, Shiratori walked over to Conan and picked him up.
Watching Shiratori carrying Conan and talking to Miwako, Takagi couldn't help but let her imagination run wild again: Is this what it will be like when Miwako has a child with Shiratori? No way! What am I thinking?!
If Kōyū hadn't been searching for evidence nearby and hadn't missed seeing Takagi hitting his head, he probably would have started complaining again.
Guangyou looked at the bicycle and the bookshelf behind it, smiled slightly, walked to the bookshelf, and lifted the curtain to take a look.
Then Guangyou went to the other side of the bicycle, looked at the position of the bicycle pedals, and a smile appeared on his lips.
He glanced up at the knife on the corpse's back; a glint of silver flashed across its blade. A light seemed to flicker in Guangyou's eyes as well: "Just as I thought."
