Guangyou had seen this sentence online before, but he couldn't quite remember if it was the exact wording.
However, even if it's not exactly what Kousuke said, it probably wouldn't be too far off.
Regardless of whether it's the exact words or not, as long as the meaning is correct, that's fine.
Judging from the smile on Ai's lips, she was quite satisfied.
Indeed, that was the case. Ai thought the sentence sounded sweet, very direct, and without beating around the bush. More importantly, she could hear the sincerity in it.
Good.
"Are you sure this is the first time you've said something like this to someone?" Ai hooked her arm around Kousuke's arm and rested her head on his shoulder. "I get the feeling you're very experienced."
In the past, when asked, Guangyou always said it was the first time, but as the two of them got to know each other for longer, she found herself increasingly less skeptical.
"What are you thinking, you little devil?" Kōyū reached out and flicked Ai's nose. "I've told you so many times, I'm absolutely brand new and unopened. You were the first one, and you'll be the last one."
While explaining, he also flirted a little, and Guangyou was quite impressed with himself.
"That sounds nice, but who knows?" Ai's words seemed to carry a faint hint of resentment. "I still don't really understand you. I only know that you live in the dark side, just like me."
Upon hearing this, Guangyou could only smile wryly and remained silent.
He didn't want things to turn out this way, but Ai didn't believe him when he confessed before.
Sigh, this is a bit tough.
However, it was Kōyū's silence that made Ai suspicious. In the past, he would have definitely answered her in this situation.
Even if I didn't want to tell her, I would at least let her know, and I would never ignore her question like I did this time.
Does he really have a problem?
If there really is a problem, what kind of problem would it be?
Won't...
The thought of this possibility made Ai's expression turn strange. She let go of Kousuke's hand and asked, "Tell me, how old are you?"
Could this person in front of me be a man in his fifties or sixties?
Sensing Ai's wary gaze and recalling the question she had just asked him, how could Kōyū not understand what Ai was thinking?
It's both funny and frustrating.
"You don't think I'm some kind of middle-aged man, do you?"
Kōyū looked helplessly at Ai, who was standing half a step away from him, and explained, "You're overthinking it. Do I usually act like an old man?"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Ai thought back and realized that this person was indeed not like those greasy middle-aged men; he was sometimes like a child.
Hmm, I guess I was overthinking it.
After dispelling her doubts, Ai slowly approached Kousuke and took his hand again.
Compared to before, she wasn't holding on as tightly this time.
"Don't worry, I'm definitely not an old man." Kōyū turned to look at Ai, a smile on his face, then suddenly changed the subject, "Because I'm past the age of being called an old man."
As soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere between the two became somewhat awkward.
Ai glanced up at Kōyū and saw a look of seriousness and worry on his face.
His earnestness indicated that he wasn't lying, while his worry stemmed from the fear that she might leave because of it.
This explanation is perfectly reasonable and there's nothing wrong with it.
Then Ai looked down at her own hands, which were linked with Kousuke's.
Caught in a dilemma, Ai stopped in her tracks, her face expressionless, but her heart was filled with turmoil.
Should I let go?
But I really have feelings for him. If I just let go like this, will it make him sad?
"Hahahaha." Guangyou couldn't help but burst out laughing when he saw her like this. "You actually believe that? How could I possibly be an old man? I was just teasing you, and you actually believed it?"
Upon hearing this, Ai immediately let go of Kousuke's hand and just stared at him.
Her behavior was completely different from other girls. If it were other girls, they would either punch their chests with their fists or leave him and walk away.
This was the first time Guangyou had ever seen someone so calm.
With no one to cooperate, Kōyū couldn't keep laughing, so he slowly stopped laughing and looked at Ai.
After he stopped laughing, Ai said coldly, "Was it fun?"
Seeing Ai's expression and sensing the coldness in her words, Kōyū panicked and asked, "What's wrong? Are you angry?"
His response remained indifferent: "I'm asking you, is it fun?"
Honestly, in this situation, only a fool would do something like that. Guangyou felt that he had a strong will to survive and was not a fool, so of course he would not say that.
So Guangyou decisively shook his head: "It's not fun."
"Why are you playing if it's not fun?" Ai looked at Kousuke, her tone still indifferent.
"I'm sorry." Kōyū bowed slightly, offering a very sincere apology. "I shouldn't have made that joke..."
Before he could finish apologizing, a soft laugh interrupted him.
"Hehe~" Ai changed her icy demeanor from before, not only did a faint smile reappear on her face, but even her tone became more affectionate, "You actually believed that? I was just teasing you, and you actually believed it?"
This sentence seems familiar; it's like the sentence I just said to Ai.
Well, it's been returned intact so quickly.
Realizing what was happening, Guangyou looked up, frowned, and glared, deliberately pretending to be angry, but the smile on his lips betrayed him: "Well, you little brat, you tricked me?"
"What's wrong?" Ai asked with a smile, walking back to Guangyou's side and taking his hand again. "Is it only you who's allowed to do this? Is this a case of 'the magistrate is allowed to set fires, but the common people are forbidden even to light lamps'?"
