On the third floor of the firm, Xiaolan was about to enter her room when she heard a male voice outside the door.
"Is anyone inside? We have a package for you!"
Immediately afterwards, the doorbell rang several times.
"Ding-dong~ Ding-dong~"
"They're here!"
Hearing the voice, Xiaolan was puzzled. She didn't know who sent the package, but she still ran to the door, pushed it open, and went out.
"Huh? Is nobody here?" Xiaolan pushed open the door and looked up to the second floor, but she didn't see anyone. She only saw a cardboard box at the second-floor door.
Judging from the shipping label on the cardboard box, this is probably the package.
Going downstairs and picking up the package from the floor, Xiaolan muttered to herself in confusion, "I wonder who sent it to whom..."
As soon as she finished speaking, Xiaolan froze. She could see clearly that the sender's name on the express delivery slip was Shinichi Kudo, and the recipient's name was Ran Mouri.
"Shinichi?" Ran was even more puzzled, and also a little curious.
She was confused because she didn't know why Shinichi was sending her a package.
She was curious because she didn't know what Shinichi had sent her.
Looking around, Xiaolan frowned slightly, as if she had sensed something, and said, "This couldn't have been left here by Shinichi, could it? Leaving it at the door without signing for it feels a bit off."
Conan, who was hiding to the side, suddenly changed his expression, but when he heard what came next, he breathed a sigh of relief and pursed his lips.
"It's probably impossible. He's not the kind of person who would do something like that." Xiaolan thought she was overthinking it. "If he were like Guangyou, then it might be possible."
"I did it, didn't I? Really..." Conan said stubbornly, but in his heart he silently agreed with Ran's words.
If Guangyou hadn't reminded him, he wouldn't have even remembered the holiday, let alone done such a thing.
"It was sent from Osaka..." Ran looked down at the return address on the shipping label and said suspiciously, "Shinichi didn't go to see Hattori, did he?"
"That guy..." Conan couldn't help but purse his lips and complain, "That guy really has a twisted sense of humor. It would be terrible if Ran called Hattori."
"I'll call He Ye later, but I'll check the tracking number first." Xiao Lan looked at the tracking number, didn't go inside, and stood in the hallway, taking out her phone to check it.
"Oh no!" Conan panicked a little. He knew, of course, that Mitsuyu had put the shipping label on the package to make it look real.
But this is just for decoration. If Xiaolan finds out it's a fake package, then he'll be exposed.
However, it turned out to be a false alarm.
"It was shipped from Osaka at eight o'clock yesterday morning..." Ran called Kazuha after checking the tracking number, and then walked into the office on the second floor with the package.
The call was answered quickly. "Kazuha, I want to ask you something..."
Conan, who was hiding around the corner on the first floor, swallowed hard when he heard the commotion.
The tracking number is valid, which is good news, but Xiaolan wants to call He Ye, which is bad news.
But he can't do anything right now, so he can only hope that Hattori can cooperate with him in putting on a show.
...
A few minutes later, Conan leaned against the door of the agency and breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, Hattori was helpful and didn't expose him directly.
"Okay, I understand, thank you." Xiaolan hung up the phone, feeling much better. The response she received was that Shinichi had been busy with cases lately and couldn't get away, so he asked Hattori to send the package to her.
Since the tracking number had indeed yielded the information, Xiaolan's last bit of doubt was dispelled.
"I wonder what's inside." Xiaolan opened the package with anticipation, only to find a folded letter. She was somewhat surprised. "It's a letter."
Conan, who was eavesdropping, felt his heart begin to race. The deserted surroundings and his slightly nervous mood made him faintly hear his own heartbeat.
I don't write letters often, but I have received quite a few, so Xiaolan's reaction is quite normal.
I wonder how Xiaolan will react when she sees the chocolate underneath the letter.
Continue eavesdropping...
In the room, Ran unfolded the letter, looked at its contents, a faint blush appeared on her face, and a faint smile appeared on her lips. She muttered to herself, "I wonder who gave Shinichi this idea."
Conan, eavesdropping outside the door: "...."
After reading the letter, Xiaolan subconsciously glanced into the box and saw a rectangular gift box tied with a bow inside.
"This is..."
Hearing the noise from inside the room, Conan outside the door felt a little nervous.
"Chocolate?" Xiaolan opened the package and was taken aback when she saw the heart-shaped chocolates inside. "What day is it? Why are you suddenly giving me chocolates, and the shape of these chocolates..."
Xiaolan took out her phone and glanced at the date. Her face turned even redder, but the curve of her lips became even more pronounced.
Ran then took out one of the pieces, put it in her mouth and took a small bite, then smiled and said, "I didn't expect Shinichi to be able to make chocolate, it's quite delicious."
Hearing this, Conan was completely relieved. Just then, his phone, which was in his pocket, suddenly vibrated.
"Luckily I put my phone on vibrate before I came, otherwise..." Conan was glad he had put his phone on vibrate when he came back, otherwise he would have been discovered by now.
To avoid Ran finding out, Conan deliberately went downstairs before answering the phone.
