After watching Ai pet the cat for a while, Kōyū got up and stretched.
I squatted for a while, and my legs felt a little numb.
Are we leaving?
Seeing Guangyou get up, Xiao Ai thought they were going to the supermarket, so she grabbed the cat with both hands and prepared to put it into the cardboard box.
"I haven't left yet. I just got up to stretch my legs after squatting for a while." Guangyou stomped his foot, enjoying the pulsating sensation in his legs, and said, "You can play with it for a while longer."
"Hmm." Ai nodded, put the struggling orange cat on the ground, and then reached out to scratch its chin.
Looking at the orange cat's eyes closed in contentment, and listening to the purring sound it made from its throat, Ai chuckled softly.
While Ai was looking at the orange cat, Kousuke was looking at her.
The surrounding noise seemed to be slowly fading away.
All he could see was Ai's face.
And, the perfectly timed smile on her lips.
Just like he said before.
Like a spring breeze, it brushed against his heart.
A genuine smile is the most touching.
That's absolutely right.
Looking at her smiling face, Guangyou suddenly had an idea.
Indeed, she is absolutely right.
Life hasn't completely settled down yet, and adopting a pet in their names would be irresponsible towards the animal.
They cannot be adopted.
but...
After making his decision, Kōyū came to his senses, squatted down again, watched Ai pet the cat, and continued to ponder.
I still don't understand what happened earlier, and I feel a bit uneasy about it.
"Cats don't need strict training; they just need to stay healthy and not bite."
He thought to himself.
This is something he just remembered.
As for what it was, he still didn't quite understand.
We can only guess based on this little bit of information.
Since we're going to open a shop, health and not biting are the most important things.
There's not much to say about that.
No rigorous training is required; aside from circuses, most places seem to meet this requirement.
It seems that all this information I have is completely useless.
Pet shops seem to fit these criteria as well.
The pets for sale must be healthy, and while they don't have to be exceptionally docile, they should at least not bite people indiscriminately.
No rigorous training is required.
Perfect match.
However… Guangyou was certain that he had never even considered opening a pet shop.
Upon closer reflection, pet shops don't meet the requirement of allowing pets to support themselves.
He decided to try a different approach and start with the types of shops along the street.
The types of shops on the street can be broadly categorized as: restaurants, clothing stores, entertainment venues, and convenience stores.
There are many subcategories in the food and beverage industry; let's put that aside for now and consider it later.
Clothing is out of the question; after all, you can't expect a cat to wear human clothes or act as a salesperson, since it can't speak.
KTVs are a typical example in entertainment venues, but it's impossible; you can't exactly ask a cat to sing "Meow Meow Meow."
Convenience stores are pretty much the same: purchasing goods, stocking shelves, handling payments...
And of all the services offered in Japanese convenience stores, none of them are suitable for cats.
Aside from being cute and getting petted, perhaps the best thing about it is catching mice.
Should I start my own pest control company?
Nowadays, most homes don't have many mice anymore, and people even train cats to catch mice. If you were to actually open a business like that, you'd definitely lose a fortune.
“There are so many categories of food and beverage.” Kōyū looked at Ai petting the cat, his thoughts churning. “Chinese food, Western food, Japanese food, buffets… these are all still main courses.”
"There are even more snacks," Kwangyu continued, "milk tea, takoyaki, oden..."
Thinking of this, Guangyou shook his head and thought to himself, "This feels like selling a cat to a restaurant. No, no, this idea is too dangerous."
Suddenly, Guangyou felt like he had thought of something.
"Besides main meals and snacks, what else do people use to pass the time?" Kōyū raised an eyebrow, "Coffee?"
He remembered everything.
In his past memories, there was a special kind of coffee shop with a simple and straightforward name: Cat Cafe, or simply Cat Cafe.
After trying to recall, Guangyou remembered that the cat cafe was a cafe mainly themed around cats—cats were the main focus, and drinking coffee was secondary.
Indeed, cats in cat cafes can work and earn money just like humans, supporting themselves.
There's no need for overly strict training for cats. Just a little simple training to get them used to using the litter box, prevent them from scratching people, keep them from being too introverted, and promote their physical health is all that's needed.
This is truly the perfect match for his requirements.
After calming down, Guangyou thought about it carefully.
So far, Kōyū has not seen any cat cafes on the streets of Japan.
To confirm this, he took out his phone and checked online.
Although the internet isn't very developed these days, if something really exists, you'll still be able to find some information.
Two minutes later, Guangyou confirmed that the concept of cat cafes was not yet known to anyone.
In other words, the cat cafe he opened here may be the first cat cafe in all of Japan.
I can't say for sure, but maybe somewhere in the world someone has already opened a cat café, it's just unknown to anyone.
The founder didn't dare say that he only came up with it based on his somewhat vague memory.
If it weren't for his past memories, he probably wouldn't have been able to figure it out even if he racked his brains, just like what happened earlier.
