Chapter 738 My Family's...

Inside the restaurant.

The group ordered their food and sat down at the table.

"Kuangyou, what are you going to do?" Conan frowned, deep in thought.

"I'm going to eat first..." Guangyou said calmly.

"Hmm." Conan listened attentively to Kousuke's thoughts while pondering.

He felt that Guangyou must have some ideas, otherwise why would he have brought him to the restaurant to discuss them?

"After dinner, take my Ai-chan for a walk around the neighborhood, or we can go straight back to Beika Town," Kouyu said earnestly, a faint smile playing on his lips.

I was supposed to take her out to play today, but we didn't end up doing anything and just wandering around aimlessly.

The group kept their voices very low, so Uncle Mori and Ran, who were sitting next to them, couldn't hear them clearly.

But Conan heard it all clearly.

Upon hearing this, Conan's thoughts froze instantly, as if he were stuck in a quagmire.

The thoughtful expression on his face gradually disappeared.

"How cheesy..." Conan recalled Kōyū's words from earlier and felt goosebumps all over his body.

He wanted to complain some more, but then he realized the key point.

Should we go straight back to Beika Town?

"Aren't you going to go see who's being held captive in the attic?" Conan looked up at Kouyu, perhaps still reeling from what he'd just heard, and unconsciously scratched his arm as he said this.

“I don’t care who’s being held captive, unless it’s my friend who’s being held captive up there. I just want to check on the situation in the attic and then get the police to come and handle it.”

"I have done more than enough in this matter."

When he said this, Guangyou didn't feel any psychological burden.

This matter had nothing to do with him in the first place. He thought so much about it and told Conan about these discoveries simply out of his own conscience, and also to avoid certain situations from happening in the future.

If someone were truly imprisoned in the attic, the most likely outcome would be that they would be silenced.

This was a judgment made by Guangyou based on his own experience.

The other party might set the house on fire with gasoline, turning the imprisoned person and the house into ashes, thus disguising it as an accident.

If the actions are done cleanly, the police will most likely not find any particularly useful clues.

News reports often state, "A house in Xianqiao Town caught fire, and someone tragically lost their life in the flames."

It might fool the unsuspecting public, but Conan, who has been to the scene, might notice some clues.

If he finds out that this incident was not an accident, he'll be withdrawn for a long time.

If he really found out, the first thing he would say would definitely be: "If I had noticed something was wrong back then, maybe those people wouldn't have died."

He thinks that way simply because he is too kind.

Even after the murderer committed suicide after his identity was exposed, he would still wonder if there was something wrong with his methods and think about whether there was a better way to handle the situation.

To avoid that situation from happening, after discovering that something was wrong, Kousuke immediately told Conan, not only because of the reason he was changed, but also so that he and Conan wouldn't have any lingering resentment.

After arriving here, Guangyou was changed a lot.

In the past, he wouldn't have bothered to even look at such things, let alone spend time caring about them.

But things are different now.

There have been changes, but he hasn't reached Conan's level yet.

He's already done more than enough by calling the police, unless it's his friend who's being imprisoned.

"Are you sure?" Conan understood Kousuke's intentions and nodded. He was about to speak when he realized they were in a public place. He looked around, then lowered his voice and asked, "Is someone really being held captive in that lawyer Ito's attic?"

"Most likely." Guangyou nodded calmly and recounted what had happened. "When I was texting you, I heard sounds coming from the attic."

"A sound?" Conan frowned, pinched his chin, and listened intently.

“Yes, the voice.” Guangyou nodded and began to recall the characteristics of the voice, starting his analysis:

"The sound was dull and short, indicating that there was not enough time to build up power."

"Judging from the volume of his voice, he should be a professionally trained man."

"This means that the guards should be two or more adult males to ensure that the guards are safe and secure. They should also be equipped with offensive weapons, such as guns or electric batons."

Listening to Kousuke's analysis, Conan showed a thoughtful expression, nodding occasionally in agreement with Kousuke's statement.

"Anything else?" Conan asked as he listened, wondering what method he could use to rescue someone who was imprisoned in the attic.

Or should we move one of them away first, and then take them down one by one?

"I also found another woman's shoe print in the entryway. The shoe print was not arranged regularly and was somewhat messy, with varying depths."

"Considering the current situation, we can make a bold guess: I suspect this woman is also one of the people being imprisoned."

"In other words, I suspect that besides lawyer Ito, there are two or three other people in the house, and at least two people are being held captive."

These are all Guangyou's own analyses, and there is no evidence to prove his inferences.

However, Conan understood that this was Kōyū's way.

The two were discussing something so seriously that Kousuke didn't notice the change in Ai's expression.

Ai's gaze, tinged with tenderness, fell on Kōyū, recalling the words Kōyū had just spoken.
