"I'll go and say hello to Ran for you later," Kōyū said softly to Ai, not hiding the smile on his face.
Actually, he can keep his emotions from showing on his face.
For him, hiding his feelings was not difficult; it was very simple. He just felt it was unnecessary.
In front of Ai, he could completely let down his guard and there was no need for him to deliberately hide anything.
However, her occasional sullenness is quite amusing.
He also quite liked Ai's arrogant and haughty demeanor.
Even though Ai knew that her thoughts weren't hidden by her arrogant words, she would still say those things.
Guangyou would always cooperate with her, pretending that he knew nothing.
The two were fully aware of this, but they still enjoyed it.
"Mm," Ai nodded in response.
The setting sun still cast a faint afterglow, which streamed through the window, filling the entire room and falling on Guangyou.
From Ai's perspective, half of Kōyū's body is exposed to the afterglow of the setting sun.
The soft colors seemed to add a touch of warmth to the smile on his face.
Seeing Kōyū's smile, Ai couldn't help but feel that Kōyū was so easily satisfied.
Just staying here to sleep for one night is enough to make him smile like that.
Is it because you care too much?
Thinking about all this, a faint smile appeared on Ai's lips.
"Everyone was talking about me just now, but what about you?"
Ai, sitting at the table, propped her face up with her hand, seemingly nonchalant, but her gaze was fixed on Kyou's face.
If you look closely, you'll notice a faint smile on her lips.
"Me?" Guangyou didn't react for a moment.
"What else did you do today besides going to investigate?" Ai nodded at Kousuke and asked.
"I miss you." Guangyou blurted out without thinking.
"Seriously," Ai said calmly, but the slight upturn of her lips betrayed her true feelings.
"After we parted ways with you, we went to an izakaya (Japanese pub), you know that..."
Looking at Ai's upturned lips, Kōyū slowly recounted the events of the day.
Although the content was rather mundane, Ai still listened attentively.
She would occasionally make fun of him in her own way.
...
The two only stopped chatting when Xiaolan's voice came from outside the door.
"Kuyou, Ai, dinner will be ready soon!"
"Coming right away!"
After responding, Kōyū turned to Ai and smiled, "Let's go have dinner."
"Hmm." Ai stood up from her chair and followed Kōyū toward the door.
After washing his hands in the kitchen, Guangyou helped Xiaolan bring the cooked dishes to the dining table.
"Sister Ran, could Ai sleep in your room one more night?"
Holding the dishes, Kōyū said to Rin beside him, "We're going to the theme park tomorrow, so I thought I'd let Ai stay and sleep in for the night. That way, she won't have to get up early tomorrow morning and can sleep in a little longer."
"Sure," Ran agreed without much thought. "As long as you discuss it with Ai."
"Thank you very much, Sister Xiaolan," Guangyou said.
"It's alright," Xiaolan said with a smile.
After placing the dishes on the table, Xiaolan turned around and went back to the kitchen to help He Ye.
As Kōyū looked at Ai walking up to him, he said softly, "After dinner, I'll try on the clothes you bought me. I'll help you with the laundry tonight."
Upon hearing this, Ai knew that Kousuke had already spoken up for her. She nodded and said, "Yeah, by the way, if you feel it's not suitable, just say so, and I can return it."
"Okay." Guangyou didn't think he would dislike it, but he didn't say what he was thinking directly.
The previous statement, "I like whatever you pick," is no longer appropriate to say now. Ai has already made it very clear: if you don't like something, just say so so that she can return it.
If I were to say that now, it would seem like I was just being perfunctory.
All I got in return for the clothes I painstakingly chose was this one sentence.
From now on, just pick whatever you like; she'll like whatever she chooses anyway.
That's why Guangyou didn't say what he truly meant.
The two went to the kitchen and helped bring the dishes to the table.
...
"Thank goodness you came back early, Guangyou."
Sitting at the dining table, Kazuha glanced at the time and then at the food on the table, saying, "Or we might as well make too much."
It's a little past 7 p.m., and it's already dark outside, but Hattori Heiji and the others haven't returned yet.
"I'll call Heiji-nii later," Kouyu suggested.
He thought that Heiji Hattori and the others might not have returned because something had happened.
For example, evidence was found that Ryoko Morozuka was problematic.
Or perhaps they saw that suspicious figure.
After all, they couldn't have just stayed in the car and waited until now, could they?
"Let's eat first." Kōyū took out his phone and sent a text message to Conan, then looked up at the others and said.
"Alright, let's get started!"
...
The three girls didn't eat much; Guangyou ate most of the rest by himself.
"Guangyou, we'll take care of the dishes and the kitchen." Xiaolan stacked the empty plates and said to Guangyou, "Give them a call and ask when they'll be back."
"Okay, I'll call right away," Guangyou nodded in response.
