"Just as Heiji-nii-san said."
Conan glanced at Heiji Hattori and said to Inspector Yumikaze, "They're all connected to Mr. Genda."
Upon hearing his name called, Heiji Hattori turned to look at Conan, his lips twitching slightly.
Using someone else's name to say what you want to say...
Forget it, I won't argue with him.
"If that's the case, then maybe there's some connection between Genda and that fortune teller?" Uncle Mori asked.
"I didn't ask for that much detail, but that woman really does have some issues."
As he spoke, Officer Gong Chang reached into his inner pocket and took out a sealed plastic bag containing a mat with charred marks.
"When Ms. Ryoko was found, she was clutching this small mat tightly in her hand."
"This morning I asked those three people to come to the office and ask them if they had seen this little mat afterward."
"Only the woman surnamed Gondo's expression changed drastically. After denying it, she left in a panic, as if she were running away."
After hearing Officer Gong Chang's words, Xiao Lan thought of previous cases and guessed, "Could this mat be a message left by Ms. Liangzi before she died?"
Kazuha, who was standing nearby, asked almost simultaneously, "If that woman is so capable, then why did you let her go back?"
"Because the arsonist has surrendered, and the woman has an alibi," Officer Gong Chang explained, "the police have no reason to keep her here."
"Of course, this is on the premise that the time of the arson you mentioned is correct."
"In that case, let's just ask again."
Pointing to the house to the right of the Morozuka family's house, Hattori Heiji suggested, "The one who provided the testimony is a little boy who lives next door to the scene, just a few steps away from here."
His proposal was approved by Officer Gong Chang.
So the group headed towards the little boy's house.
After asking around, the group learned that only the little boy had witnessed what happened.
To further confirm, Officer Gong, using his police identity, successfully led the group to the little boy's living room.
The little boy was watching TV in that room that night.
On the way to the room, Conan walked up to Kousuke and whispered, "Kousuke, you said you suspect Akira Morozumi, right?"
"Hmm." Kōyū glanced at Conan and nodded. "Yes, I do suspect him. Why?"
"I'm wondering, if he really is the culprit, how did he set the fire?" Conan asked as he walked forward, his hands in his pockets.
"Isn't this simple?" Guangyou said nonchalantly. "Just make a timer."
“I know that, but the police only found traces of lamp oil at the point of origin of the fire.” Conan asked again, “I was wondering what kind of timer device could leave no trace after use.”
“Actually, there are many such devices.” Guangyou thought carefully for a moment and replied, “Similar timers can be made using everyday items.”
While the two were talking, the group had already arrived at the door of the room.
Heiji Hattori, who was walking at the front, pushed open the door, and after entering, he glanced around and observed the room's layout.
My gaze finally fell on the curtains in the room.
"So, the horse's shadow appears on this curtain?" Officer Gong Chang stepped forward and pulled back the curtain.
The room opposite the window was the starting point of the fire.
Following the others into the room, Conan first glanced out the window, then turned to look at Kōyū.
"You just said that everyday items can be used to make similar timers?"
“Yes.” Guangyou nodded and gave a random example, “For example, wrapping flammable materials like napkins around an object with a very high surface temperature.”
"When the surface temperature of an object exceeds the ignition point of a flammable material, it can easily ignite..."
"And if we add lamp oil..." Conan didn't finish his sentence, his expression gradually becoming serious.
This method is highly feasible.
After regaining his senses, Conan wanted to check the scene, but remembering that Heiji Hattori was still there, he decided to call him along.
He walked over to Hattori Heiji and reached out to tug at the corner of Hattori Heiji's clothes.
"Conan, what's up?" Heiji Hattori instinctively wanted to call out Conan's real name, but thankfully he changed his mind in time.
He looked down at Conan with a puzzled expression, only to see Conan gesture for him to come closer.
Then, Conan shared his theory with Heiji Hattori.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go take a look." Hattori Heiji was already getting impatient.
"Um."
After greeting Inspector Yumigahara, Hattori Heiji and Conan walked towards the door.
As they passed by Xiaolan and Heye, they heard the little boy say, "Because when the lights are off, it's dark all around, like watching a movie, it's so cool!"
“But little one, you must turn on the lights when watching TV,” Kazuha said, bending down. “Otherwise, your eyes will become nearsighted very quickly.”
The little boy pointed at Conan as he walked past him and said, "Just like him?"
“…” Conan stopped and glanced at the little boy.
I feel offended.
He wanted to take off his glasses and put them on the boy's face, then loudly tell him that they were non-prescription glasses, with no prescription.
But to avoid trouble, Conan suppressed the urge.
Upon hearing this, Hattori Heiji couldn't help but chuckle twice.
He ruffled Conan's hair, suppressing a laugh, and said, "Stop dawdling, let's go take a look over there."
