A single statement, devoid of sarcasm and merely stating a fact, caused a tremendous emotional fluctuation in Akira Morozumi once again.
"You're lying!" Zhu Jiaoming raised his head, his flushed face showing an expression of resentment.
He was very confident in his plan and initially thought it was his mistake that allowed others to find evidence.
But now, he has been told that even if his plan goes smoothly, it is known that he is the serial arsonist.
He couldn't accept it.
"Besides me, don't the others also have motives?" Akira Morozumi loudly announced the names of the other two suspects.
"So did I, and so did Liangzi's sister! Didn't they both have motives?"
Without showing any impatience, Officer Yukichi nodded, confirming what Akira Morozumi had said.
"Yes, those two also sold Genda the device containing the listening device, but they only wanted to eavesdrop on who he was communicating with."
"As long as you tell me something that only Genda knows, you can make him believe in your divination or feng shui."
"Then they can sell their useless stuff at a higher price."
"To put it bluntly, they just want to use underhanded methods to swindle more money."
The moment he finished speaking, the flush on Zhujiao Ming's face slowly faded, gradually turning pale, and he used his hands to rip his pants into wrinkles.
Ignoring Akira Morozumi, Heiji Hattori continued, "Also, I found out that the landline phones here were bugged when I was looking at the phone bills."
"When eavesdropping on phone lines, the phone will remain connected indefinitely, which is why the phone bills are so high."
"Then... why are you so sure I planted a bug in the landline?" Morozuki Akira asked, his head down and his hands gripping his pants tightly.
"Perhaps...perhaps it was two other people who tampered with the phone..."
Even Morozumi himself didn't believe this. Now that he was in this situation, he probably just wanted to understand why he had been caught.
"Why are there so many questions..." Kōyū glanced at Akira Morozumi, mentally complained for a moment, then covered his mouth and yawned.
He wasn't sleepy, he just felt a little bored, and after yawning, Guangyou felt more energetic.
But Ai didn't know that.
"Tired?" Ai leaned closer to Kousuke and whispered, "Why don't you go and rest for a while?"
"I'm fine." Kōyū lowered his hand from his mouth, tilted his head to look at Ai, and, sensing the concern in her words, gave her a genuine smile.
"Don't force yourself." Ai saw how energetic Kousuke was and knew he wasn't lying, but she still offered her concern in her own way.
"Hmm." Kōyū responded and turned back to continue watching the show, but his hand was somewhat restless as he grabbed Ai's hand.
Not only that, he also hooked his little finger and gently tickled Ai's palm.
"Don't move." Ai said calmly, without letting go, but instead tightening her grip on Kyou's hand.
This will prevent him from making those sneaky moves.
The room lights shone on her, and through the gaps in her hair, you could see that her earlobes were slightly red.
"Um..."
Taking in this scene, Kōyū nodded with a smile, then turned his gaze back to Akira Morozumi.
"They both clearly had a motive; it's possible that one of them did it..."
Looking down at the creases he had made in his pants, Morozumi Akira muttered the same phrase under his breath.
"Don't you understand?" Conan glanced at the time and guessed that the police would be arriving at the scene soon.
The initial plan was to have the police stake out the area beforehand, but since the exact time of the three people's arrival was unclear, it would be inappropriate to have the police wait there indefinitely.
They figured they were more than capable of dealing with the three, so they hadn't asked Officer Gong Chang to send officers over earlier.
Since there was still time, Conan thought it wouldn't hurt to explain it to Akira Morozumi.
"You should know that to install a bug in a landline phone, you would have to break into the house first, right?"
Looking up at Conan who had said those words, Akira Morozuki nodded.
"If it were those two, when they broke in, they would probably take the listening device out of the things they were selling, right?"
"If Mr. Genda discovers this behavior, I will be suspected. They haven't achieved their goal yet, so why would they risk doing something like this?"
These words made Zhu Jiaoming sigh deeply. He didn't say anything, nor did he grab his pants like he had before.
"I think you probably read Agatha Christie's 'The ABC Murders' before you came up with the idea of using this method to commit the crime, right?"
Seeing that Akira Morozumi had no intention of arguing further, Heiji Hattori spoke up, "But why didn't you notice it back then?"
"No matter how meticulously the criminal plans, the one who laughs last won't be the criminal, but rather that overly meticulous, mustachioed middle-aged man in the novel..."
Even without mentioning a name, such distinctive features made it clear to Morozuki who Hattori Heiji was referring to.
He has a mustache and is overly particular about neatness...
Isn't that Hercule Poirot from the novel?
"Yes...that's right."
When Morozumi heard these words, he lowered his head even further, placing his hands on the ground.
Silent...
"Officer Yuki, I'll leave this to you." With the matter resolved here, Hattori Heiji decided to go downstairs to check on the other two.
