Chapter 84 Oh no, the key is lost!

At dusk, in an abandoned building, two children stared at each other, saying things that were incomprehensible.

“There’s absolutely no mistake. She’s starting to realize your true identity. If you try to keep it a secret, it’s pointless and will only hurt her,” Ai said expressionlessly.

Conan was somewhat surprised: "But why are you telling me all this?"

“Because,” Ai turned her head away, her face still expressionless, “your eyes of justice may see through evil hearts, but they still don’t understand women’s hearts.”

"A woman's heart?"

"CUT!" Mitsuhiko, who was not far away, quickly interrupted their conversation. "Haibara-kun, you should have more feelings!"

Hearing Mitsuhiko's words, Kōyū, who was drawing circles in the corner, immediately stood up and walked to the group: "What do you mean? It's getting late, let's go home!"

Mitsuhiko was somewhat unwilling: "But this is a performance at the garden party! We need to take it seriously!"

“Since it’s a performance for the garden party, shouldn’t we, at our age, be performing some ordinary plays?” Guangyou’s face practically screamed jealousy.

In the past few days, Teitan Elementary School has been holding a school fair. Mitsuhiko suggested performing a skit, which Genta and Ayumi strongly supported. Initially, Mitsuyu was also very supportive, but after seeing the script and the characters, he began to resist. However, his resistance was ineffective.

Looking at Ayumi, who was also jealous, Kōyū said, "Even if we're going to do this, I think Ayumi should play Ai's role!"

Upon hearing this, Genta and Mitsuhiko shook their heads, very seriously: "No way!"

Ayumi, on the other hand, was filled with excitement: "That's right!"

Genta and Mitsuhiko exchanged a glance; they longed to embrace and weep.

Kōyū's jealous expression brought a charming smile to Ai's lips.

Conan broke out in a cold sweat: "How about we act out a police story? For example, a criminal escapes to an abandoned building, and then the criminal and the police have a shootout, how about that!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a voice echoed through the building.

"stop!"

Kōyū sighed and slapped his forehead: "Conan, is your mouth blessed?"

Just then, the door to the room where everyone was was opened, and a man with handcuffs on his hands rushed in.

Behind him, a familiar figure was aiming a gun at the man.

Conan was somewhat surprised when he saw who it was: "Officer Sato?"

Miwako's face was serious. She held the gun steadily in both hands, aiming at the man: "Put your hands up and stand still!"

The man hesitated for a moment when he saw Ayumi standing next to him, then directly hugged her and placed her in front of him: "Don't move! If you move, things might get complicated for this little girl!"

When Ayumi was taken hostage, Genta and Mitsuhiko reacted the most violently. If Conan and the somewhat rational Mitsuhiko hadn't held them back, Genta would have rushed up and fought the man to the death.

The man, holding Ayumi, backed away while talking, then turned and ran towards the stairs behind him.

With a hostage in his hands, Miwako couldn't bring herself to shoot. Watching the man run up the stairs, she had no choice but to continue chasing after him.

Miwako felt a little regretful, but she didn't blame Conan and his group, since they were the ones who had broken through first.

Following the man up the stairs, Miwako and Conan found that Ayumi had been placed on the stairs, with unshed tears still on her face.

Ayumi seemed to know what Miwako and Conan were going to ask, wiped her eyes, and pointed upwards: "That man dropped me off here and ran upstairs."

After hearing this, Miwako and Conan continued running upwards.

Upon reaching the rooftop, the man was using a ladder to climb to another building.

Once the man reached the other house, he pushed the ladder downstairs without hesitation.

Then, the man pushed open the door behind him and ran inside, while Miwako stood on the roof to observe.

When Miwako saw the drainpipe next to the building, she frowned slightly; she wasn't going to give up so easily.

Miwako bit the gun with her teeth, lunged forward and grabbed the drainpipe. The drainpipe was bent under the pressure, and the part of the drainpipe that was fixed to the building could not withstand Miwako's weight and broke off. Miwako freed one hand to hold the pistol and fired, breaking off the remaining part of the fixing point.

Drawing a perfect arc, Miwako landed directly on the exterior staircase of the building next door.

This maneuver left the group of people on the roof of the building wide-eyed with disbelief.

Conan was the same; he never expected Miwako's actions to be so sharp, and he was even ready to give up.

Ai, who hadn't shown any expression until now, suddenly had wide eyes and her lips were twitching slightly.

Kōyū rubbed his forehead: "As expected of the Detective Conan world, but I'll give this operation 82 points, and the remaining 18 points in the form of 666."

Takagi arrived on the rooftop at that moment, calling out Miwako's name with some concern. However, if he had seen what Miwako had done earlier, the one who would be worried would probably be that man.

Miwako had already broken the door lock with her gun and was about to enter when she heard Takagi's shout. She turned around and said to Takagi, "Officer Takagi, surround us from below!"

Takagi quickly agreed and turned around to prepare to flank Miwako from below, as she had instructed.

Conan was still completely bewildered and had no idea what had happened. Miwako had acted too quickly earlier, and he hadn't had a chance to ask.

As Takagi ran downstairs, he briefly explained what had happened: the prisoner had escaped while he was escorting him.
