Chapter 86 Miwako is imprisoned

As the group walked out of the art museum, Takagi was sometimes happy, sometimes shy, and sometimes disappointed.

Miwako seemed to trust him a lot, which made her happy and shy.

To his disappointment, he thought Miwako liked Inspector Megure. He was puzzled: "Isn't Inspector Megure married? Could it be that..."

Thinking of this, Takagi quickly shook his head, trying to convince himself, "It's impossible, Officer Sato isn't that kind of person."

"Officer Takagi, what are you muttering to yourself?" Miwako was puzzled by Takagi's alternating laughter and tears.

Takagi shook his head: "It's nothing, let's go."

On the way to the izakaya, five police cars sped past them with sirens blaring.

Miwako smiled and said, "Officer Takagi, it seems they've all been looking for us!"

Takamoto was sweating profusely and didn't say anything, thinking to himself, "That goes without saying. Those people haven't seen Miwako for so long, I wonder what they're thinking."

To prevent them from being discovered and to protect Higashida's innocence, Miwako and Takagi put on a simple disguise.

It's not really a disguise; it's just wearing a hat and sunglasses. This kind of outfit is quite eye-catching, especially late at night.

After entering the izakaya and getting a quick overview of the situation, I happened to find that Higashida's colleague, Kitagawa, was also there. Kitagawa was smoking a cigarette and reading a newspaper, his face expressionless and very calm.

Takagi took out a small notebook: "Mr. Kitagawa was the first person to discover the body."

Conan was intrigued to hear that Kitagawa was the first to discover the body, as it wasn't the first time a murderer had impersonated the first person to discover a crime scene; it had happened many times before.

Kitagawa put down the newspaper, extinguished his cigarette, stood up, took out some money for drinks from his wallet, placed it on the table, and then turned and left.

Takagi and Miwako rushed forward to try and stop Kitagawa, but he disappeared after leaving the house, and the two of them couldn't catch up with him.

While still in the izakaya, Conan and his friends asked the proprietress about the situation of Higashida and Muranishi.

When Takagi arrived, Conan and his friends asked the two which team they supported. The victim, Ms. Muranishi, was a fan of the Tokyo Souls team, while Higashida was an anti-Souls team.

Higashida himself was waiting outside, not wanting to cause panic among passersby, so he waited for everyone to come out.

He was unaware that this situation had increased the suspicion surrounding him.

Seeing everyone asking these questions, Takagi felt a little embarrassed and apologized to the boss: "Sorry, we'll be leaving now."

It was already quite late, and it was dark outside. The detective team members only then realized the problem and prepared to call home to let them know they were safe.

Takagi let out a long sigh.

Everyone wanted to continue investigating the case outside, so they came up with the universal excuse—Professor Agasa!

Dr. Agasa answered the phone and, though somewhat surprised by the requests, agreed. With detectives Takagi and Miwako by his side, the children's safety was assured.

Professor Agasa poured himself a cup of coffee at home and said with a smile, "Tomorrow is Sunday, so I'll tell their parents that you'll be going to see the show together tomorrow."

"A performance? What kind of performance?"

Speaking of tomorrow's performance, Professor Agasa was very excited, his face beaming with pride: "The day has finally come for my invention to contribute to the town!"

"I named my invention Tropical Rainbow, because it produces seven colors of light when it explodes."

Dr. Agasa's words confirmed Kōsuke's earlier prediction that Tropical Rainbow would blow up the art museum tomorrow.

After all, making a contribution can't be limited to setting off fireworks.

Conan agreed and hung up the phone. Takagi asked about the result.

"The doctor agreed. He said he'll take us to see a performance tomorrow, which should be the Explosion Art Museum."

Miwako felt a chill after hearing this. If Mitsuyu hadn't unlocked the handcuffs, and if things had gone wrong in such a short time until tomorrow, Miwako would have ended up with Higashida in the art museum explosion.

Miwako turned around, patted Mitsuyu's head, and said with a smile, "Thank you, Mitsuyu."

Shaking off Miwako's hand, Kōyū pulled out two lollipops from his pocket, tore open the wrapper, and handed one to Miwako: "It's nothing, here, have a lollipop."

Taking the lollipop, Miwako smiled and said, "Let's go, Officer Takagi, let's go to the crime scene and check out the situation."

This suggestion was exactly what Conan wanted to hear.

Higashida is not allowed to see people right now, as he has not yet been cleared of suspicion. Miwako took Higashida to eat at a convenience store.

Firstly, Miwako was a little hungry, so she could buy some food for everyone. Secondly, she could keep an eye on Higashida to prevent him from escaping.

The original plan was for Ayumi and the other two to go with Miwako, but they insisted on coming along.

After getting the key from the administrator, the group entered the room of the victim, Ms. Muranishi.

When they came in, the administrator looked at them strangely. After all, it was late at night, and a man claiming to be a policeman was leading a group of kids. This lineup looked very odd.

Fortunately, the group had discussed a plan beforehand, which involved conducting nature education, observing the work of the police, and then writing a report.

Mediterranean caregivers at this age often have a special sense of trust towards children.

In their eyes, children are pure beings, and what they say is the most truthful, with few exceptions.

The administrator also praised Ayumi and her group for their studious spirit with a smile.

With Miwako and Takagi nowhere to be found, Inspector Megure couldn't help but feel a little worried.

The police officers were well aware of Miwako's decisive and efficient nature. The fact that they hadn't been in contact for so long had sparked a lot of speculation from Shiratori, Miwako's suitor.
