Chapter 88 Takagi's Relief

Fortunately, he didn't retaliate, otherwise one of his parts would have been broken.

Previously, Takagi had treated Kitagawa fairly well, but now, looking at this person who was still trying to argue despite the overwhelming evidence, Takagi felt a little displeased.

Takagi executed a back throw with a grab around the waist, clapped his hands, and said to Kitagawa on the ground, "Threatening a public official and then attacking him, I was acting in self-defense."

The three members of the detective team, who were watching the show, clapped enthusiastically.

"Tsk tsk." Kōyū also applauded Takagi's move. "Who says good people don't get angry? Kitagawa dares to threaten public officials. He must be out of his mind."

Lying on the ground, Kitagawa stopped pretending: "You say I'm the murderer, but where's the evidence? Do you think the police arrest people without evidence?"

"Evidence? Isn't the evidence right in your hands?" Ai looked at Kitagawa as if he were a clown. "You say you're not the murderer, so why is your thumb injured?"

Without giving Kitagawa a chance to explain, Ai continued, "The injury on your thumb must have been caused by accidentally hurting yourself while moving Ms. Muranishi's cactus, right? I'm sure if the police investigate, they'll find something."

To Kōyū's surprise, it was astonishing that Muranishi, a rather pretty woman, would be attracted to such a seemingly unattractive man. Kōyū felt that Muranishi was blind.

With the culprit caught, Takagi was finally able to contact Inspector Megure and his team.

Upon arriving at the scene, Inspector Megure immediately launched into a tirade against Takagi.

Takagi mustered his courage and shouted at a volume that overpowered Inspector Megure, "Inspector Megure! The real culprit has been caught! Please, I beg you, get Chief Inspector Beika to issue a certificate for Mr. Higashida's early release!"

Inspector Megure didn't react for a moment, then nodded: "Oh."

After a few seconds, he realized, "Where's Officer Sato?"

Takagi awkwardly recounted the whole story, having expected Inspector Megure to criticize him, and he was prepared for it.

However, Inspector Megure did not criticize him. Instead, he praised him, saying, "Brother Takagi, you were very decisive this time, and your actions were understandable. You should be more careful next time!"

"yes!"

The case was solved, and everyone arrived at the art museum to admire Professor Agasa's magnificent tropical rainbow.

Takagi went to the airport to meet up with Miwako, and Higashida finally caught the plane.

"Luckily, Mr. Higashida made it in time." Miwako laughed as she recalled Inspector Megure's face criticizing them for not trusting the police, and even imitated it for Takagi.

Takagi looked somewhat dejected and hesitated for a moment before asking, "Officer Sato, can I ask you a question? Do you like Inspector Megure?"

“I like him,” Miwako said without hesitation. “Because he’s like my father.”

Takagi had already become withdrawn, but hearing the second half of the sentence rekindled his hope.

Leaning against the railing, Miwako recalled, "My father used to be a policeman, but he died in the line of duty when I was in elementary school, so I often associate my father with Inspector Megure."

Suddenly realizing something, Miwako glared at Takagi: "Are you trying to say I have a father complex?"

"How could that be!" Takagi quickly waved his hand to indicate that he didn't mean it that way. "Then I'll go find my uncle, no, I'll go find Inspector Megure and get scolded."

After saying that, he turned and ran away. Although Takagi quickly corrected him, Miwako still heard it and blushed as she said, "Idiot."
