The sky was getting dark.
Under the gradually darkening sky, Guangyou and his group walked through the forest.
They had been walking in the forest for hours but had not yet found a place to rest.
Oh, no.
In fact, they couldn't find a place to rest, or even a tennis court.
Fishing was an impromptu activity for them; it wasn't something that existed nearby, and naturally, there was no path leading to the river.
Previously, when they arrived at the river, they had simply walked through this forest.
Logically, they should have been able to get back to where they parked by retracing their steps, but in fact, they didn't get there.
They are still walking in the forest.
Achoo! Achoo!
After sneezing twice, Conan sniffed.
"Conan, are you alright?" Sonoko stopped and bent down to look at Conan, asking with concern.
"I'm fine." Conan looked up at Sonoko, smiled, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "It's just that my right wrist hurts a little."
"Your right wrist hurts?" Kōyū stepped forward, grabbed Conan's right hand, lifted it up and examined it carefully, and said, "It's nothing serious, just a sprain."
He doesn't know much about diseases, but he's good at judging the extent of injuries.
These are all experiences accumulated from previous injuries.
"As long as you don't move around too much or lift heavy objects, you should be fine after a few days of rest," said Kōyū, gently putting Conan's hand down.
"I think he must have twisted his hand when he fell into the river," Ran said, frowning as she looked at Conan's right hand, which was already slightly bruised.
"I think this kid is really unlucky." Uncle Mori said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood as the atmosphere became a bit heavy.
But the others didn't think so. Xiaolan turned around and looked at Uncle Mori, who wasn't anxious at all and was still joking, and said loudly.
"Dad! This isn't the time for jokes!"
"Yes, you're right," Uncle Mori replied weakly, looking at Ran who seemed a little angry.
"Let's keep going," Xiaolan said, looking around and then up at the sky with some concern.
"It's getting dark, and we still haven't found a place to rest."
"Let's hurry up then," Uncle Mori said, leading the way for the group. "I think we should find it soon."
That's what he said, but deep down he wasn't sure either.
He looked around, thinking to himself:
Where am I?
...
The group walked through the forest for nearly half an hour.
“Actually, if we can’t find a place to rest, we can just camp in this forest,” Guangyou suggested, looking around at the surroundings.
There are no ferocious beasts like jackals, tigers, or leopards in this forest that pose a threat to humans; at most, there are only small animals that are harmless to humans and livestock, such as rabbits, squirrels, bats, and rats.
The space they were standing on wasn't very spacious, but it was enough to meet the sleeping needs of several people.
The rain had fallen several hours ago, and the soil underfoot was completely dry; you could lie down and sleep on the ground if you didn't mind getting dirty.
If you think it's dirty, you can find something like fallen leaves to spread on the ground.
It's just that the conditions don't allow it; otherwise, Guangyou could use the materials available in the forest to build a hammock or a natural tent.
As for food...
We can only try our luck and see if there are any small animals like wild rabbits nearby, or fruit trees with ripe fruit.
Even if you don't have any, it's okay to go hungry for one night.
"Huh? Camping right in the forest?" Sonoko looked around at the completely dark forest and decisively shook her head in refusal.
"I think we should keep going. I don't want to sleep in a place like this."
"I also think we should keep going," Ran said, holding the clothes Conan had taken off earlier. "I'm worried that Conan's cold will get worse."
This is just one reason. Ran's other reason is the same as Sonoko's: she also doesn't want to spend the night in this forest.
...
The group continued walking forward.
"But what should we do next?" Sonoko asked, her arms crossed and her pretty eyebrows furrowed, looking somewhat troubled.
"Our luggage was washed away along with the car."
"My phone can't get a signal either."
As she spoke, Xiaolan took out her phone and glanced at it. Seeing the no signal icon on the screen, she looked up at the gloomy sky and sighed.
"As we walked, it got dark and it was almost evening."
"And we..." Uncle Mori looked around at the familiar scenery and said with a serious expression, "It seems we're lost."
"What? Lost?" Sonoko and Ran's expressions changed immediately.
"Wait a minute." Sonoko looked at Uncle Mori, her voice unconsciously rising. "Uncle, didn't you say we'd find a place to rest soon?"
"Didn't you know the way before you came?"
"No..." Uncle Mori's eyes widened instantly, and he explained somewhat embarrassedly, "I just felt I should go this way, so..."
"Actually, we're not exactly lost." Kōyū, who was chatting with Ai, overheard their conversation and said, "There's a way to figure out which way we should go."
"For example, judging by the density of the trees..."
He wanted to find a tree to demonstrate for the group, but as soon as he turned his head, Guangyou saw a ray of light.
